  • I was born in 54. Wanna trade your youth for my experience...think carefuly :*)

  • love all comments, and thank you for letting me be born too soon

  • Boyce and Hart wrote several songs for the Monkees. I was in the 5th grade i think when this song came out. I had a crush on a girl in my class. We fooled around a bit at school when no one was watching but couldn't get near her after school etc. Because of my parents and hers. This song would come one and i would sing the hell out of it with a tear or two running down my cheeks. Sadly, she moved and it took awaile but i got over her but this song is one that remains in my heart. I remember her.

  • @ElectricHellfire

Not only did they write for them, they teamed up with two of them later after Peter and Mike left to pursue other interests. Look for the album titled Dolenz, Jones, Boyce, and Hart.

  • @gamewizard Thank you, i am fully aware of this.

  • These guys were damned good musicians and this song demonstrates that.

  • these guys were known more for being songwriters. They wrote several for the Monkees that became very succesful

  • I think :)

  • Why did I have to be born in 96'?! I wish I was born in 56'

  • @TheRockandroll420 46 was a good year :)

  • @TheRockandroll420 I was born in 56'. Cheers

  • they were also on I dream of Jeanie and the Munsters

  • No wonder he threw away his tambourine,

it wasn't working,...just like the guitars.

  • these two were on Bewitched also with Sabrina.

  • Anybody remember when they were on I dream of Jeanie???? They wrote many songs for the Monkees as well!!!

  • This song is so damn catchy! I HAVE to listen to it!

  • Those years were really quite troubling; Vietnam, etc. Even so, they were great years for music. That music lasts today on YouTube.

  • Things were more subtle back then.

  • I was best friends with Bill Lewis from 1975 until Bill's untimely death in 2005. When Tommy shot himself we joined Bobby Hart at a special wake on the beach near Malibu, and listened to Boyce and Hart Songs. When Bill died we had a huge wake (which I catered). Bobby Hart and Larry Taylor amongst many others attended. Bill was a great frind and I miss him dearly, but it is great to see him and listen to the music here!

  • I think if you've were born anywhere from about 1945-1975 you were somewhere in the prime of great music. There may be a little bleed over into earlier years and later years depending on the parents of those born during those years...

60's, 70's, 80's were tops. Music turned to absolute crap around 1995 IMO with a sharp decline starting in 1988 or so.

Are there gems that exist still? Sure. (I like matchbox 20, maroon 5). People WILL NOT be reflecting back on Lil Wayne with nostalgia in 20yrs

  • @williejenkins666 I'll agree with you on all that!

  • @williejenkins666 I concur wholeheartedly.

  • Always loved this song....It was incredibly hard to find...took me over 20 years to find it

  • Great song and vid. White boys have no rythm tho.

  • What she's doing tonight? You should have said WHO's she's doing tonight.

  • Hate the vid but luv the song.

  • What TV show was this?

  • @jwmellott my guess would be it's the Mike Douglas Show

  • I love this song! I don't normally comment on videos, but 21 dislike this? A classic great tune, whats to dislike? Its not Kanye? You 21 need to get off the internet before you make it worse

  • We loved these songs throughout our youth, but I am finally realizing after all these years that we didn't love them enough! If your a baby boomer like myself, these songs can really zone you in on a particular month and year when these songs were hits. This song was popular in early 1968, I hear this song and think of my classmate Patty G. in my freshman year in high school. We never suspected the impact these songs would have nostalgia wise some 40 odd years late in life.

  • Such a great song - i love hearin' this shit on the radio !! atmospheric melodic - and they write great shit for the monkees too !!

  • These guys were great song writers for other artists. This is a great song. You don't hear many songs today that use a lot of horns like they did in the sixties.

  • I know Mike Nesmith did write "Different Drum" for the Stone Ponies.(Linda Ronstadt lead singer.)

  • Carol King also wrote "Pleasant Valley Sunday" and maybe a few others.

  • The Original Title Was " I wonder who She's Screwing tonight "...But the Record Company Would Have No part of it..

  • @luv2aptnz ~ My all-time favorite Monkees' recording (Daydream Believer) was written by former Kingston Trio member John Stewart. Stewart's brother, Mike, played with Bev Bivens and We Five.

  • @MrRonnieG I never knew that. Thanks for the info.

  • I used to wonder what Cynthia was doing while I was in Vietnam. She was having a good time with some other guys; which is what she should have done, because there was no guarantee I was coming home. Oh well. I came home and found another girl.

  • If it wasn't for Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart, the Monkees would never had such a claim to fame.

  • Another song from the best musical era ever-the sixties. And do I ever miss those times.

I hate rap crap so much...

  • @dahur I agree friend. How I miss those days too!

  • @dahur I love This Music..And I love Rap..If You Don't, Then Simply Don't Listen to it.

  • @KREEPNASTY1

Oh, I don't. When it comes on commercials, or the program I'm watching, I can't get to the remote fast enough.

  • Definte moonwalk by Bobby.

  • the sixties when i was young and didn;t even know where to play that on the guitar lol !

  • Were these guys cool or what? Take a very close look at Bobby Hart's footwork. I believe he landed on the moon and walked decades before Michael Jackson ever did his moonwalk.

  • Could someone explain to me why he doesn't exactly want to be with her in this song if in fact they are so close? Is it simply because he can't ruin a friendship? Or he never thought the girl was his friend in the first place... You think the lryics tranlates to he could love her or only friends forever?

  • @brittanyrenae100 She broke up with him. "Because a friend won't say it's over, and then just walk out..." File it under Duh.

  • My best years, honestly, were in this window. I can tell you that, when a Boyce & Hart written song came on the radio ~ there was not a still pair of feet in the joint!

  • Boyce & Hart wrote most of the songs for the Monkees group - did they not ?

  • @orbitring They wrote Last Train to Clarksville, but I don't know of any others. Most Monkees' songs were written by Michael Nesmith

  • @luv2aptnz I don't think Mike wrote any Hits for the Monkees...But I know Neil Diamond did.

  • @KREEPNASTY1 It's true that Neil Diamond wrote many Monkees songs, but if you google "Last Train to Clarksville" you'll find that it was written by Boyce and Hart.

  • @luv2aptnz I wasn't doubting that Boyce and Hart wrote any Monkee hits..I was referring to Mike Nesmith..

  • I have always loved this song...Somebody needs to get on the ball and start cleaning up some of these old classics. They are starting to sound muffled now.

  • @valerysgirl no, they're the same, it's just you that's getting older. you know, i'm not trying to hurt you, but it's probably you are starting to loose some of your hearing.... you know, from all those loud conserts you went to? ..... :) i think i'm gunna go listen to physcotic reaction while i still can. hear.

  • @m1kewithaone ....My hearing is fine...I wasn't even born yet when these bands wered playing. I think that some of these old songs need cleaning up...I am sure there are those out there who know what I am referring too...

  • @valerysgirl oh, yah about yesterday, i was just in a wierd mood. don't pay any attention to me. today, i'm in a different mood, and actually i see things totally different today. i'm sure it's my hearing that's waining a little, and you are probably right. i just can't hear what i'm missing, so it's all good i guess. and now, ... i'm having waffles!! oh sh*t i wish i would stop saying that. it sounds so stupid, but it makes me laugh!!

  • @valerysgirl you really freaked me out today, when i went to your channel and found "the bomber meddly" by james gang blasting in my face!! wow, i didn't see that comming!! oh, man. i saw them in 1970 and "canned heat" opened for them! what a concert that was! even though i was stoned on acid, i can still remember it, and i remember when they played the bomber meddley! amazing. i'm just so surprized to find a young person into james gang! and i take back everything i said about your hearing :D

  • @valerysgirl the issue would be, they were not released on cd; cd has a much 'cleaner' sound. a lot of these 'old songs' on youtube & other sites are being played from their original vinyl. those of us who grew up with it, understand that, accept it, & are simply grateful to once again be able to enjoy the music we grew up hearing. :)

  • dig the neru jacket....very 60s mod. had one myself back in the day .these guys had a couple hits themselfs but mostly wrote hits for others including the monkees.

  • thanks

  • I thank God for letting me live those years

  • @octoberprince

    Me too.

  • @octoberprince I was born long after a lot of these BRILLIANT artists/bands. Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong era!

  • @octoberprince - I join you in giving thanks!

  • well, in all these old videos, the first thing you notice is they're all smiling and happy. Not so much the musicians these days.

  • love Boyce and Hart!

  • Great Song Writers for the Monkees!!

  • Ahhhh the Nehru jackets.....:) yes, I remember that, along with the Yardley look...:)

  • Love it great song from a very influential duo who wrote countless hits back then. Talent at A plus. They had the ear for catchy music. Thank you boys thank you for being a part of my life!

  • Ah, Nehru jackets. LOL

  • Tommy Boyce may you rest in peace! always love your music.

  • All right Bobby, let's get 'em!

  • This song rocked in it's day

  • I wrote,"this is not a monkee's song"

  • Boyce & Hart wrote several of the Monkees' songs.

  • Real cool song!!

  • Alright Bobby let's go!

  • Tommy & Bobby, Bubble Gum Artists, no doubt about it !!

  • ,I'm glad that I grew up in the Sixties. It was great, happy sing along music like this that made the time so special. The irony is, it's a sad song if you focus on the words.

  • This is one of the greatest little pop songs of all time. I loved it when I was 12 and I still love it today. Peace.

  • These two were one of the best song writing teams we had. thanks for all the great songs. These guys wrote some of the best Monkeys songs as well.

  • ...you can't lose a friend you never had! because a friend won't say it's over, & go out just for spite...& now i wonder...what she's doin' tonight...

    Great Song!!!!

  • yes, boyce and hart, neil diamond and even carol king wrote Monkee songs

  • I was there too, and surely this era is the finest in all of music history. It can come back, though.

  • I was there too and I would not trade it in for today and all the garbage we have now.

  • Boyce and Hart wrote many of the Monkees songs many of which were hits!

  • Reverse time. Please let me help make Tommy happy. He mad me so happy..

  • Thank you.

  • stop deifying humans it makes us real GODS sick(i kid)

  • THE VOICES OF THE MONKEES....

  • l think everbody knows these two guys where the monkees for the longes time.they wrote there songs and sing them as the monkees only move there lips.

  • What a ridiculous claim.

Have a listen to I'm A Believer (written by Neil Diamond). Clearly Micky Dolenz singing. Listen to Daydream Believer (written by John Stewart). Clearly Davy Jones singing.

I know you can't help being ignorant - you could at least not let the whole world know it.

  • @cygnetUP Franky, cygnetUP, I suspect painblk meant that B&H WROTE many of the songs the Monkees sang.....

  • @summersrl . B & H did write many songs for the monkees, so neil diamond and carole king.

  • For so long I thought this was a Bobby Sherman song.... In the song,...they called out 'alright Bobby now lets go now...' Wow,..learn something new every couple of decades.

  • this would have been a good video, but that back ground effects was bad,

  • Tommy Boyce (on right) killed himself in 1994. Another victim of prozac.

  • Where would The Monkees be without their Songs? Today I wonder what Tommy and Bobby are doing Tonight with all their royalties from their songs?

  • I have this sudden urge to watch Scooby Doo.

  • @beachgrad98 get yer scooby snacks...lol...I know exactly what you mean...I Love Youtube...what a way to (presumably) waste an hour or two of daylight...

  • No, I think she offers them a lot of money.

  • shes working in anal porn tonight but praise jesus shes aint smoking that devils weed marijuana

  • Remember the Bewitched episode-

Serena: "my name is Serena and I've come to see Boyce and Hart"

Security guard: " there's no Serena on the guest list"

Serena: "Look again" (then a wave of her hand and SERENA suddenly appears on the guest list)

  • @gfm8959 Doesn't she kidnap them to play for her? I do believe they also wrote songs and some were for the Monkees.

  • R.I.P., Tommy.

  • Groovy Man!!

  • Great classic! Loved the group, the music and the time!

  • I saw them perform on a "Bewitched Episode" once. But they were mainly songwriters

  • Western Chicago suburbs, cruising and wondering! Thanks for a great post!

  • This sounds like it's from one of those old Filmation cartoons.

  • Great song by a great 60's song writing team. This was a terrific song from 1968 and I know at times, I wonder what she's doing tonight.

  • check out clips when they were on Bewitched TV show,Sirena ROCKS!!!

  • @Syzygy60 , loved serena at cosmo's catillion. pretty sure she got them to perform there.

  • I hear the Monkees wrote Neil Diamond and Boyce and Harts music...I'm kidding, was other way around :)

  • @Syzygy60 the monkees...they were a huge influence on the beatles

  • @FlyingIllini33 huh?

  • @boozer7574 haha its a quote from the movie Dumb and Dumber.

  • @FlyingIllini33 Oh kool. now I feel dumber.

  • @boozer7574 haha dont sweat it.

  • one of those songs that, once you play it again, it just sticks with you. i'll end up humming this all eveing and beyond. guess thats a tribute to the catchiness, the timing, the flow of the lyrics. terrific!

  • Youth was something.

  • Great classic cut! They wrote more songs for the monkees.

  • Bubblegum Rock

  • no end to their talents, wrote #1 hits for the Monkees and reeled them off themselves

  • I loved it when the 'psychedelic" camera effects were more important than viewing the actual performers. It drove me crazy then, still does.

  • Boyce and Hart-- just one one the best ever. How I miss them. Thanks for posting.

  • "All right Bobby Let's go"

  • Remembering back when this was released, I could relate to that verse" Wonder what's she's doing tonight" Thanks for Posting!!!

  • love this song. upbeat and fun. granted the videos back then were funky, but that's the time and the technology, or lack of it. but still these two wrote a lot of hit songs.

  • I think the reason is, that you are 'sissy'. "Trixie" is the name, of a whore! Why do people who are mentally incapable, try to 'act' like a 'real' person. Your parents, hated you, and so do most people, who are involved with your sorry life. Trixie, you are a terrible person! Boyce & Hart, had a great song, it reminds me of you "Fag stroll the grounds, because no man respects you,or is interested" You're probably the worse person,I've ever encountered.
  • While i love the genius of the late 60's music- the do whatever we want generation - (read statist) has parlayed itself into the govt owes me

And for anybody on this check out Love's Forever Changes masterpiece. But 65-70 was a great music era

  • It was a time of looking a girl in the eyes and knowing that it was cool. Hand holding and whispering was a great night! Staying up late and talking on the phone and not really saying anything to her. I still do all of this to my wife.

  • @mgardner3760 Good for you, and may everything get better between the two of you. Happy New Year in 2010, you are so positive:-)

  • Yes, the 60s were great. Compared to today, we had nothing, but we had FUN, FUN, FUN....I know, I was there...........

  • you got that right 100% and we had nothing man and what we had we made with our hands and hand me downs, i almost forgot that part,, cars, girls, clothes,ATMOSPHERE WAS MAGIC,i try and bring the same things today with kids, relatives kids and friends and why not, just so so much magic each and every day in those days, and to have a taste of what it was about is the most refreshing thing to happen to me anyhow, in this day and age!!!!!far out man !!!bring it all back anytime!!!!

  • We didn't have AC in the car, no power windows. We were lucky to have an AM radio in the car. I installed a second speaker and everybody thought it was fantastic. We didn't have computers or video games. We didn't even have calculators. I had to add in my head. Boy, was I in trouble.........

  • we had none of the toys that we have today...and yet, we were much happier

i think the unibomber was right...technology is killing america

  • OK, but please do not go off on the deep on this. Technology is inevitable...........

  • @brabon1 He was wrong brabon1, values like we were brought up on, are lost in the USA.

Thats whats killing your land, amigo.

Technology made America, and the World.

Hugs and a Happy New Year to you and yours in 2010:-)

  • values?

shit, people just hid all the shit that they did...now its in the open

trust me, i was much happier before computers

  • I hear you...some of us didn't have cars and had to sponge off our friends that did....but I hear you about the radio...my ifrst one was an am/fm transistor radio with a single ear jack...makes me feel so old...

  • It was a GREAT time, but you know what they say...If you can remember the 60's you weren't really there!

  • I'm not sure I know what you mean....

  • Juliebaby, that is...

  • @classic287 great? fun? We must be talking about two different decades.

  • @classic287 sounds like what i do today

  • @classic287 i was there too, and i don't remember seeing you? where we you??

  • such amazing music came from this decade

  • @xblinkx182xgm I agree. My personal belief is that back then people cared enough to master their music and thought less of the money than now. More care seems to have gone into everything from lyrics to arrangement to musicianship. It was about the music!

  • Love them singing as well as the video for the movie Where Angels Go.... I just can't understand why Tommy Boyce committed suicide?

  • It's hard to understand why anyone does that. If you've ever been really depressed, you could see how it happens, no matter how many good things and how much love you're surrounded by. The only one who really could say would be Tommy. RIP.

  • how many times have you wondered what she,s doing tonight??as a teenager back then we sure did,Love!!top song by a top pair of guys, sure was a bigee back then, nice to hear it today, just makes me want to go back to those days, sure does, not much doing these days, quite sad really,i guess you had to of been part of this era, warm, colourful, friendly, hip, groovy,go go dancing and so so much fun,and the chicks were so so down to earth as well, boyce and hart lives that,s for sure!!Great Post Matee!!

  • This sounds like something out of an old, classic filmation cartoon.

  • Man these cats are great fucking song writers

  • These guys wrote a lot of music back in the day. They wrote songs for the Monkees and a bunch of similar bands. Guess they decided to start singing them after a while. They really churned out the bubblegum. But it still makes me smile. Fairly innocent times and music to match! Makes me feel so old watching this and seeing the years this was put out. I miss my misspent youth!

  • Me too.

  • Great song one of the best from the turbalant 60s. this group was hot and this song a megahit. they left their mark. this doo wop/rocknroll historian can tell you this is a rare treat. they use their names in the song to get into the spirit. thanks guys. TOMK a man who knows great music

  • bubble gum song, but i love it

  • Good song but bad video. Wish someone could download a straight recording of the original w/o the ridiculous scene.

  • LOL on the Austin Powers reference :) Brings back memories alright...memories of a torn retina...

  • This sounds like it could be on a classic filmation cartoon.

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for posting, but what an incredible annoying clip! The director must've been on drugs. One camera that trucks in and then out, and a poorly executed chromakey. I think Bobby's shoes were pinching!

  • I agree...its hard to watch the video with all the other stuff going on but the music back then was so awesome... I miss those days... truly! (:
