Assalam-o-alaikum Titli, I really love your cooking style. It's just to ask if the jelly sets at room temperature, as you haven't showed putting the jelly powder in boiling water as per the instructions, mostly, given on the jelly's packaging.
I never normally make my trifle with jelly as I wasnt sure where it was supposed to go and how it was supposed to be layered haha, (i normally add sherry to the sponge too) but thanks to you I can now make it with jelly and make it look funky on top :D
no offense, but that custard....at first, i thought it was macaroni and cheese lol. i never tried a trifle like that before. usually u see it with whipped creams and mousses and mostly really sweet things, you know...americanized. never tried one with jello before
I gotta say, my Triffle's better than yours, I always make my own cakes for it, and add a layer of milk jelly before the homemade custard, which also has thin slices of banana.
@TitliNihann the words you say at the beginning sound a lot like maltese. Is it latin or something like that? Cuz maltese (my native language) comes from italian, english and latin. We say it 'Is-sliem ghalikom' which sounds kind of like the one you say when you read it :)
@TitliNihaan yes I know that it's Arabic :P it's just that maltese is so much like it since our language is a mix of english, italian and arabic :P And I can't beieve you replied me hehe ;P
Titli, I've been watching for a long time, and I still cannot, for the life of me, figure out what you are saying at the beginning and end of your videos. I am mighty curious - care to explain?
@theperfectexceeder I have never had a problem with jelly and tinned pineapple. The jelly sets fine. I am told that fresh pineapple prevents jelly from setting properly.
Auntie Titli! is what you call Jelly the same thing as what we call Jell-O here across the pond? I'm guessing it is, but just want to be sure...thanks
Titli I have been looking for a recipe to prepare the Triffle, but I have observed that some people add wine, how different could taste it with? which one recipe is considered the most Typical British? I found your recipe very easy to make. Greetings to Scotland
I <3 that you enjoy choking birds; I had fun once throwing cough lozenges at them at the beach this summer...they actually fought over them and ate them like crazy...also, thank you for signing the calendar you sent to Chicago! :)
@sumli4eva Use a couple of big spoons and a bit of care. If you treat it like mashed potato it'll end up looking like mashed potato. If individual presentation is the thing you are into then make several individual trifles.
@cecilyantigone I am slowly working through my old videos which have the old theme tune to avoid any potential copyright infringements for the tune in the future.
Titli - I'm sure I've read somewhere that using pineapple (or kiwi fruit) with jelly prevents it from setting - but I don't know if that's just the cube-type rather than the crystals you're using here. Obviously you're not having a problem, but have you experienced this in the past?
; u ; the trifle my granny makes has no custard or cream, when i was little i couldnt even tell what the soft part was,...it had allot of fruit, sometimes alcohol.. *my mother always put too much alcohol in, so i prefer my nans* and jelly, and these jelly soaked sponges that had such a heavenly texture. xD i used to eat it so much i got a tummy ache...
Oh, I love trifle and my Granny used to make it too! This is beautiful! The way some people make trifle here in the US makes me sick! Now this is the real thing. Thank you for sharing that with us!
I guess a self-baked sponge cake would do the job too... =)
