I notice that you are talking and after you talk you can keep counting 1, 2, 3,4... Is there a specific sound in this loop that makes you know its in the last bar so its going to start again? I can hear a small different "drum" sound. Or is it just inside of your brain counting because of ur practice? If I stop counting i get lost.

@westoncrew123 try practising just letting go on the 1 of each bar and getting your tracks in beat and holding them there. once you are more experienced and further on with your mixing skills then you can phrase the mix to perfection. ideally its 32 beats, depending on the style of music, but thats once you have mastered beatmatching. if you cant beatmatch reasonably well yet, dont worry too much about counting bars.

@djtaz122 i suggest when learning ignore the bpm or you will get used to going off of it and it will become a crutch which fucks ya all in the end, example: classic vinyl, your fucked if you don't have a mixer with bpm readers on both channels.... also its not really mixing if you are cheating eh' ;)

In both cases, I was only like a 7/10 for the first cut out, but by the second cut-out in both cases, it was more of a 9 or 10/10. I guess it's just taking me a little too long to beat match.

I attribute some of my fail to being cheap and only having Virtual DJ (not looking at the bpm). I'd imagine a real slider would be easier to manipulate than with a mouse. :P

it's easy to beatmatch the bpm because all cd players have a bpmcounter! its hard to get it on beat!

well try without looking the bpm counter and then try to get them in beat. tha's harder but if learn like this you will be able to play with any cd player or turntable that has not bpm counter!

try mixing on vinyl, u have no bpm counter on that..

thats a bad way to learn too, i learned it the hard way when i was starting out, better to hide the counter and do it by ear, its alot more fun!

I gave myself a 10! House music beats are pretty easy to master but it's when the singing starts and backround music effects as well as the speed changes within many songs so stay focused on that picth control AND your ears! :)
