Actually, they are AIC. And if you really listen to this band you'd realize that the other band members, particularly Jerry, were just as if not more important than Layne. Duvall is a great addition; not Layne but an excellent and versatile singer and more than adequate replacement.
People need to look at this like this; Its a whole new band with duvall, sure layne is better, but duvall isnt bad. Cut him some slack, its not an easy job to fill. Like i said, its a whole new band, i wish i could post this on every AIC vid.

I may be the first to say this, but I'll bet I'm not the first to think it.... No white man could have filled Layne's shoes. He had a timbre and thickness to his voice that sounded less like a rock singer and more like a soul singer.
My problem with Duvall generally isn't his vocal delivery (not counting this performance.... this one is bad), but with the fact that he's not particularly convincing singing songs about heroin addiction. He's much more convincing on the relationship songs.
duvalls voice on the chorus sounds pretty good, but i miss the awesome harmonies that jerry and layne had...duvall and jerry just cant seem to get that right (at least not in this vid)
This guy has a great voice but they should concentrate on new stuff. The songs from the past are so much related with Layne, that is impossible to make any sense of them using a different person.

Hell yeah right on man at least he WANTS to be up there ! Layne was great but the last years of his life he didnt want to do music (A.I.C.) anymore he had given up on it. Duvall is a beast up there !!! Funny how no-one bitched when Mike Starr was no longer in the band ...

I was a huge fan of Alice in Chains with Layne! And sure Duvall is a great singer! But i feel like AIC is a whole new band with Duvall! A great band, but never as good as old AIC..

Actually, they are AIC. And if you really listen to this band you'd realize that the other band members, particularly Jerry, were just as if not more important than Layne. Duvall is a great addition; not Layne but an excellent and versatile singer and more than adequate replacement.

People need to look at this like this; Its a whole new band with duvall, sure layne is better, but duvall isnt bad. Cut him some slack, its not an easy job to fill. Like i said, its a whole new band, i wish i could post this on every AIC vid.

layne's gone, no one'll be like him, but if the rest of the band is satisfied with will (IMHO he sounds ok) then that must mean something...

I may be the first to say this, but I'll bet I'm not the first to think it.... No white man could have filled Layne's shoes. He had a timbre and thickness to his voice that sounded less like a rock singer and more like a soul singer.
My problem with Duvall generally isn't his vocal delivery (not counting this performance.... this one is bad), but with the fact that he's not particularly convincing singing songs about heroin addiction. He's much more convincing on the relationship songs.

Damn I miss Layne... His voice had a sort of ethereal quality to it. Duvall just doesn't have it. I appreciate the effort though.

This guy has a great voice but they should concentrate on new stuff. The songs from the past are so much related with Layne, that is impossible to make any sense of them using a different person.

I think when jerry was looking for a new singer he wasnt looking for someone to replace layne staley. nobody can replace staley and he knows it more than any of you guys talkin shit bout duvall. he was looking for a compatible singer who could easily get into the new stuff jerry had been writing and join the philosophy of the band. i know it isnt easy to accept duvall as a new layne staley but hey, he isnt the new layne staley.

This is the first time hearing AGAIN with Duval singing. I didnt even think they played this with him. I just really hope that they play this when I see them. This has always been one of my favorite Alice in Chains songs, one of my favorite songs of all time PERIOD!
