Anyway, Vic Fontaine has about 1000 links on Net. Quite enough for a TV character
comming from 20 years old show. He shall be virtually alive for a long time, till someone invents first (Panasonic) home holodeck. I will buy one with Vegas program. Cheers!
@Buuuuuutch That episode with Nog constantly in the holosuite (I don't want to spoil the story, if you or others did not seen that episode yet), was very interesting...i understood why Nog wanted to stay, but Vic ha...nevermind... ;-)
Am i the only Trek fan that hates this crap.............Why was this even in any episodes of Star Trek.................If i wanted to watch crap like this I'd watch the next Dirge Simon Cowell is releasing!
Honestly guys, how are we supposed to ever BELIEVE that WORF likes Vic Fontaine music.................He likes Kligon Opera!
@Camelsarse It's escapism! Just enjoy. If you want to question everything then the Universal Translator wouldn't work in sync either. Moving faster than the speed of light is a myth. Relax, it's Star Trek not Science or the Gospel!!
@Camelsarse "how are we supposed to ever BELIEVE that WORF likes Vic Fontaine music.................He likes Kligon Opera!" He Also likes Prune juice!
@thebluemaggot LOL! How could I forget. Prune Juice. Perhaps thats why he likes Vic Fontaine...........Both good for movement of the bowels............. ;-)
@leeham991 Worf didn't hate Vic... he made Vic sing to him so he (Worf) would hate himself more (almost like a self-punishment deal). I think Worf secretly liked Vic
I kind of remind myself of Odo. I'm suspicious of people, to myself, quiet, Take everything too serious, and also seeking romance with a woman. Odo loved Kira a lot. I love a woman too but she cant be with me because she belongs to another guy. I remember when Odo would see Kira with an other man it eat him up emotionaly.
Of course Enterprise needed one, and Dr. Phlox was going to be it, but being an aimless series up to the last season, Trip took the seat of most endearable character, not because of his problems with humanity, but because of him stealing the show. So they killed him off. Really mature guys.
Odo is a good character; all Star Trek series needed a bystander, someone to try to be human. Spock, Data, Odo, Doctor. In the new movie it was all forgotten, Spock again, but he's just like a spoiled brat in that one. Annoying, not interesting. What made Star Trek interesting was it's deep probing of the human psyche and contemporary issues. The new movie had none of that really. It didn't have heart. That's what all the Star Trek TV series had.
thank you for keeping playing the film at the normal speed. a bunch of other videos like this are sped up a tad, making everything sound half step higher
It was a daring experiment to add a character like him to the series. But it was worth it! Vic Fontaine is an awsome character. To bad he was added so late in the series! I wont ever forget the times i had "onboard" the DS9 :-)
Great video, I enjoyed it. But I'm confused again-isn't this a copyright violation? There's lots of stuff I'd like to post if I thought I could get away with it; what am I missing? And by the way, do you have the video of "I'll Be Seeing You"??
To be totally honest, I'm not sure if there's a copyright violation or not. As you can see, I mentioned Paramount Pictures at the end, and I'm not trying to get any credit for the show or the video itself. It is, of course, of public domain that Star Trek belongs to Paramount. If you wanna upload something, I advise you to mention your sources and the owner. But be careful with any kind of content that belongs to Warner. They will hunt you down if they find something on YouTube.
Lol... sorry about that... I was kind of sleepy when I read your comment. I'm not always this slow. Anyway, thanks for watching Fred, really. Maybe you'd like to check out my other vid and my favorites. You'll find a lot of Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica, I bet you'll like it.
Well, I really like Star Trek, but you see... I'm no good for Science. I mean... I really like it, but Physics and Math just kill me. I'll try to go to college in the end of this year, get a degree in International Relations here in Brazil, because History and Geography are really what I'm good at (excluding English). Anyway, thanks again. I'll try to post something soon.
Then you've proved my point with your StarGate example - Drama! As far as BSG ending with the 4th season .. I think that's sensible ... afterall how far can the producers drag out the "Search for Earth" ?
Stargate is funny, and it isn't nearly the drama BSG is, sleeping with 'the enemy' while holding a high ranking position, and not even being sure if the person you 'sleep' with actually exists.
It's just far more dramatic then it needs to be, and isn't a good a show. As to finding earth, Stargate made defeating the Goa'uld take at least 7, and BSG obviously switched gears for a bit when it landed on 'New Caprica' or whatever.
Now, i'm curious about that, pal! That's something i really didn't know. And i'm a star trek/ frank sinatra fan. That's really impressive. But... what else can you tell me about it?
He starred in an episode of this (I don't remember the title, it was like 'Companion' or something), and was on Family guy, he actually sang it's ending theme.
It started out okay, but by mid-second season it became just a Sci-fi variation of a soap opera, not to emntion for a Sci-Fi it lacks heavily on technology, we still see White boards, cars, classic phones, guns, as if this is are own time-frame with some elements thrown in.
The white board was on the President's ship, so was one of the phones I was talking about, and cars were back on the home planet, not to mention we see old style guns all over the place. The fact that Galactica is an old ship is irrelevant.
Also, the point remains, it's a soap opera in space, way too much drama, especially when it comes to personal relationships.
Completely disagree. But like I said - to each to their own. I can't stand the continous and lame Star Trek script of: "We're all going to die - but if we re-route the plasma conduit trhough the EPS deflector.. then we might live." Then as if by a miracle everyone is ok.
You can disagree, but it's the truth, it IS a soap opera, and it IS lacking on technology. If you can still like it, fine, but don't try to deny what it is.
As to Star trek, I don't really care, DS9 is pretty much the only series I like, and for three reasons:
1. Vic Fountaine segments.
2. ship to ship/Fleet Battles (the thing that originally attracted me to Star Trek at the start, needless to say, DS9 is the pinnacle of this)
3. The Quark and Odo interactions which are a laugh a second.
You're right it is a soap opera. I've never said otherwise. But the global tv market is being successful because of the drama elements SCI-FI. Star Trek and it's spin-offs are nolonger around - because the market is stagnant with the typical Star-Trek scripts. People are bored with it. And because Star-Trek and it's spin-offs aren't around is because the tv producers have taken it as far as it can go (eg there is no room anymore for it in the market) and drama sci-fi has taken off.
... No, it hasn't taken off, BSG is going to end in it's 4th season, just like Enterprise did, and that's pathetic.
The most succesful Sci-Fi series right now is still Stargate, despite that SG-1 has been taken off the air, if BSG can be beat by a spin-off, then that's also a sign to say it just ain't that good, or at least it's not meeting audience approval.
... what about it? It's the longest lasting Sci-fi series, but far from the most succesful, the '9th' doctor just left the show after one season, not a good rep to have.
Did anybody know that when James Darren was asked to do this, he was so excited and honored, that he asked Dean Martin's widow if he could borrow Dean's shoes to wear while playing Vic Fontaine?
Terrific! It's Star Trek moments like these that make me miss the 90s.

universe - is maybe 100-150yrs ahead of earth. As as far technology is concerned. Don't forget the Galactica is an archiac ship compared to Pegasus.
