@bannanaiscool ok, if two hydrogen atoms bond together for example, then the force of attraction is covalent ok, but if a bunch of hydrogen molecules come close or when these hydrogen molecules are in solid state, how then they are held ?
ok..if i am having a piece of Na and i want to react it with chlorine,
first the sodium atoms(before reacting with chlorine)would have lost its electrons.ok when i react it how then how it give to chlorine the electrons if it already lost them ..plz try to understand me and answer me!
very helpful but what happens when you have a molecule which has both polar and pure covalent bonds like CH2Cl2. Does it behave like a polar or non-polar molecule?
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU... my chemistry book loves to find the hardest way to explain something, but you just broke it down to the basics! i really appreciate it, it was a monster help on my test!
You my friend... are amazing. I have watched all your junior chem videos. They helped so much. I wish i knew about your orgo videos before I took the class twice. Keep up the great work and your unique effective style.
I love how you just start talking about chemistry and don't do a long introduction. Refreshing. Also, this will help me pass my chemistry exam tomorrow, so thank you very very much, I wish you taught my chemistry class. :)
Thank you SO MUCH. my teacher sucks.... makes you wonder how he got hired. hopefully i can manage to pass the regents with the amount of review i've been doing.
dude seirously whoever you are god bless you. this shows humanity still has people who are willing to help with nothing in return. you are a great teacher
I bet this guy teaches in a prestigious university. This is helping my out A LOT...I'm taking AP Chemistry as a sophomore in HS...making his videos VERY useful
Thank you sooo much! I'm homeschooled and so I have to figure almost everything out just by reading it, but this REALLY helped! Thank you so much! God Bless!!
Thank you Sir!! You're simply phenomenal. And I'm sure everyone else agrees with me when I say, you sure made me fall in love with chemistry. I used to despise Chem simply because I couldn't get the hang of it, but your videos are inspiring enough to make me die trying my best. Thanks again for posting all these videos.
I was very good in chemistry therefore I find these videos very interesting. The author is realy great at explaining it. Soon we will prefer our online teachers more than teachers at school.
Thank you.. Are you a science teacher?

Actually the correct difference in electronegativty to consider it a Ionic bond is 1.7 not 1.9 tehe just felt like stating that

plz answer for me this question:
ok..if i am having a piece of Na and i want to react it with chlorine,
first the sodium atoms(before reacting with chlorine)would have lost its electrons.ok when i react it how then how it give to chlorine the electrons if it already lost them ..plz try to understand me and answer me!
thanks.
sickcombos 1 year ago
@sickcombos No. The sodium doesn't lose the electron as such... the chlorine takes it away!
Chemguy
bannanaiscool 1 year ago
@bannanaiscool but i heard that metals(sodium) lose electrons in a sea of free electrons

What does the writing say about Electronegativity at 1.10?
AlishaChild 2 years ago
@AlishaChild
example: Na + Cl
EN of Na is 0.90
EN of Cl is 3.15
the different is 2.25 > 1.9 so this is a ionic bond
thaitanium2005 2 years ago
@thaitanium2005
I understand that part, I just couldn't decipher what the writing said that's all. Thanks anyway. :)
