I'm playing Baldurs Gate now for the first time and in my first battle I was killed by 2 wolf's right at the beginning.Man I feel like a bitch.I hope I learn how to pause in combat cause I need to learn how to play.
Very easy going song. I remember when my parents got me a twin pack of pc games long ago. Baldurs gate 2 or 3 which was a ten disc game.... played it and It was ok. I couldnt get into it at the time but now I enjoy the rpg.
that's why it's called strategy game... not slash and run... i'm disappointed with the way they made it into a console game... pause is necessary so you can determine where and how your party members can best defeat enemies... those people who commented about "not pausing"... they never played this game
Pausing is what made this game possible to be played to the full extent. Sometimes battles could be lost or won based on how your group was positioned. Goddamn i love this game.Believe its time to play it again.

Robe of Vecna, Amulet of Power, Staff of the Magi, Improved Alacrity, Chain Contingency, Abi Dahlzim's Horrid Wilting, Lower Resistance, Sunfire, Flame Arrow, Skull Trap, Mirror Image, Protection from Magical Weapons, Spell Immunity are just some of the weapons in the arsenal of a high leveled sorcerer, people need to stop accusing him of cheating, this is easily possible.
Ahhh Bioware. Always making a quality rpg. Challenging games too (Jade Empire was decent). Bethesda makes me feel like my IQ is below room temperature sometimes with how easy and run-and-gun their stuff is. Not saying they aren't fun, because they are, they just can't beat the masters of the rpg. Same goes for Lionhead.
Any wizard can cheese a dragon with time stops and nukes. Cluster them up and same applies with AOE nukes dropped on more than one.
Playing on Edwin, you could do this much easily or better still playing on a Wild Mage you could steamroll a dozen dragons if you luck out with the dweomers.
Try cheesing out 8 Amelyssans, Demogorgons or Balthazars and you would have definitely won The Game.
nwn 2 first they would have more succes also the chars like boo and misnc and other chars in baldurs gate have given much love and credit for baldurs gate and they did not in nwn and nwn 2 only in nwn 1 they made aribeth the palladin queen
btw bioware rocks but i have too say that they put too much love in this game because they made the other bioware games that came after especially nwn and nwn 2 those didnt had good vocal and background music and the graphics werent that very good but still good all but lesser i think if they made nwn and

remember the monk at epic levels? immunity to magic and normal weapons. Plus all the fighter special abilities you got...made the character very powerful in the end...

@russzkij no, the question was relating to how many spells he got off during the time stop since "With a regular one u can cast 3 or 4 spells tops." Take the amount of spells cast, factor in how long he paused, and it *looks* like an insanely long time stop.

A smart player takes the advantages he can get. In all cases someone using pause will perform better than he would without pausing. If pausing increases your performance than how is it noobish?

You are removing an ability that other players would use, increasing the difficulty of the game. In the tutorial for BG 2 the text says, if you don't pause you will make the game more difficult. Using time stop, improved alacrity, and bombing spells on dragons that can't hit you because you go invis, not entertained. I'm not sure why 42 other people agreed with you.

The only way you can physically play it without, is to send your fighters in and pray you do not get hit.
Otherwise, you have fighters just attacking which is fair enough. But you cannot have mages casting spells, clerics healing and buffing, rogues maneuvering to backstab and keeping everyone in flanking without pause.
Yes they're made by the same people, and more or less run on the same engine, Chars look the same. Lot of the same spells. Just different places in faerun :D

actually the controller was never designed for fps at all, and it wasnt until golden eye that fps was popular on consoles. fps will always be more popular on pc.

Try the PC version. You will find that any hypothetical fight against that many dragons is statistically impossible and has nothing to do with skill.

a. this is the pc version... baldur's gate dark alliance was for consoles and was a action/rpg.
b. fighting that many dragons is not impossible and their a far more difficult solo fights posted on youtube by other users.

no this game did not have a big online multiplayer content and is a more tactically slanted game then dungeon siege or diablo which were more hack and slash.
suprised this video is still getting attention, and reccently started playing this again so might try and redo this with tactics/accension etc on so its more challenging. Request any boss fights, combos etc and i will try em out with tactics on. Cheers!
Black Dragon, and no, Black dragons use an acid breath attack that not only deals a large amount of up front damage, it also deals considerable DoT. Also it is one of the most intelegent dragons, allowing them to cast spells, they also are resistant to Abujuration. White dragons are the weakest by far, frost breath is weak in damage and most races are resitant, or have spells to cure slow. White dragons have no spell-casting power. Also there was one red dragon, and two plot characters.
No I think it was a shadow dragon, especially considering the adventure itself. I do remember white dragons being the crappiest and most "animalistic" of the dragons.
I think he meant one of the weakest in the game? (I could be wrong) You're right white dragons are the weakest in the FR setting but since it's only red, black, blue and silver that are in the game black would be the weakest.
Actually red dragons are still weaker than black, less intelligence and dexterity, plus black dragons are the first evil dragon that has a possibility to cast spells.
According to Draconomicon and Monster Manual 3.5 Red Dragons are the most powerful Chromatic Dragon. You say "first dragon that has the possibility" so maybe black dragons are stronger at lower levels. A full grown red is stronger than a full grown black

Sorccer's get more spells per day than mages. That and this set up was probably just for this fight, also since he has no allies Horrid Wilting isn't a bad choice.
Is there any class that you are able to wear armor and cast spells, I know it's a mut point due to Ghost armor at mage level 3 which makes regular armor completely useless, except for the enchantments, but there are spells that have similar effects, as well as 'mage armor'. But still, is there one?
Well the classes are clearly defined in the bg2 game but in 3.5 mage armor is better because it increases touch ac as well because of its force effect.
I just started the series and I don't see how Dragon Age is anything like Baldur's Gate!

Its easy peasy... EVERY Dragon falls under the following combination..
Edwin + Vekna's Robe -> Stop Time, Acceleration, Pierce Magic, Greater Weakness, 2-3 times reduce magical resistance -> Death spell... over, every dragon drops ;)
And YES it's easily possible to make 8-10 spells during time stop with Vekna's Shield and Acceleration

he will wipe the floor of your caster and 8 Dragons, while sipping a cup of tea.
and Kangaxx the Demi-Lich is in this game,
killing dragons is a monks speciality, Monks are most op they 1 shot dragons naked ( true story, you can youtube it. )

Kangaxx comes from the original game, if you defeat him in the Original game at Original level (not TOB lvl (31)) i will be even more impressed
2. a level 31(Maxxed TOB lvl like yours) naked monk will 1shot those dragons (vs saveing throw) with Quivering Palm. gg
the monk does not have to be lvl 31 to do this either -_-.

Is this game even possible 'without' using the pause function? The combat is far too difficult and I agree, it is not 'noobish'.
It was a very well placed system to allow the freeflowing nature of computer games, with the turnbased nature of D&D.
Without pausing, tactics in the game would be impossible. You cannot micro manage 6 people at once in a 6 second interval :). No one is that good ^^.

I started of by playing Icewind Dale II as my first RPG and I found Baldur's Gate to be several times more fun than Icewind Dale II. Even though I loved that game.

The Chromatic Orb is one of the best spells in the game, the higher lvl you get, the stronger it gets.
When your lvl 20, it got a large chance to just instantly kill your opponent, even if he is a large badass creature.

Console games rely on a controller built for moving a guy around & is primarily used in thoughtless FPS games. In fact, the controller symbolizes the difference: the controller & games are designed to challenge 12 year old motor skills. FPS games can be fun, but they are dumb. This is speaking generally. Occasionally a console RPG is ported from PC but it is dumbed down to attract 12 year olds like you who like action and shoot'm ups.

Also I'd like to add to the man saying that a PC is pretty much like paying for a car. A car is definitely worth more, unless your getting those sidetrack cheapy charlie cars. Oh yeah and for the record you can get mods in oblivion for Xbox. Not to mention some modifications to games are to make them more exhilarating, such as when you feel the game isn't difficult enough so you go into the game and have it spawn level 20 and beyond creatures for your entertainment. At first I was like, wtf is this... then I realized it's BG for console. Consoles dumb their games down and make them easier for their 12 year old demographic.
Try the PC version. You will find that any hypothetical fight against that many dragons is statistically impossible and has nothing to do with skill.
Speaking of which, if you cheated to fabricate this scenario then who is to say you didn't alter your character stats as well? Of course you will deny it, but...ahem...

a. this is the pc version... baldur's gate dark alliance was for consoles and was a action/rpg.
b. fighting that many dragons is not impossible and their a far more difficult solo fights posted on youtube by other users.
c. in regards to cheating, why would someone post a cheated video? and me fabricating the scenario hardly lends itself as evidence of me cheating as anyone with a brain can easily put in debugmode=1 in the .ini file and do whatever they want, again what would be the point.

The Elder Scrolls was and is a PC game. As are the other games but their console ports are dumbed down. Not sure what your point was. Bioshock, Ass's Creed, Elder Scrolls were initially PC games that were dumbed down to suit your IQ (and the IQ's of millions of fucktards who embrace console games cuz they lack the wit to play in-depth PC games).
Console specializes in action, FPS shoot-m-up games.. i.e. fucktard 12 year old games (yes, frequently played by 20-30 year old fucktards as well).

No, all the games you mentioned are PC games that have been ported and dumbed down to console equivalents, as I said earlier. I am not denying that consoles have those games. They were written for PC and ported (i.e. some dude translated them into console cartridges/discs and in doing so made them easier, more attuned to the console tween demographic).
Please, I have PS2 and have played most of these games first hand. You don't have to think to play these games. PC rules forever.

Black Dragon, and no, Black dragons use an acid breath attack that not only deals a large amount of up front damage, it also deals considerable DoT. Also it is one of the most intelegent dragons, allowing them to cast spells, they also are resistant to Abujuration. White dragons are the weakest by far, frost breath is weak in damage and most races are resitant, or have spells to cure slow. White dragons have no spell-casting power. Also there was one red dragon, and two plot characters.

According to Draconomicon and Monster Manual 3.5 Red Dragons are the most powerful Chromatic Dragon. You say "first dragon that has the possibility" so maybe black dragons are stronger at lower levels. A full grown red is stronger than a full grown black

Is there any class that you are able to wear armor and cast spells, I know it's a mut point due to Ghost armor at mage level 3 which makes regular armor completely useless, except for the enchantments, but there are spells that have similar effects, as well as 'mage armor'. But still, is there one?

Well the classes are clearly defined in the bg2 game but in 3.5 mage armor is better because it increases touch ac as well because of its force effect.
