I am afraid you do not understand anything about Shostakovich's music. So find out what ideas he had about war. Go and listen to military marchs, do not abuse other peoples music.
I have always had a soft spot for the Flanker series, (sorry don't know the Russian name for the aircraft) they are just too sexy, almost like the designers built them too look as good as they fought.
@Swertzer ...Yes, I do. The F-15, a design that is going on 40 years old is used as bait to lure the SU-30 within the range of an F-22 which promptly shoots it down before the SU pilot even knows it's in the neighborhood. Come to think of it, maybe that great Serbian hero Gavrilo Princip could have escaped after shooting Franz Ferdinand and Sophie if he was flying an F-15.....ya think? lol
Russian pilots do a horrible job at demonstrating Russian training skills and discipline at air shows, but a tremendous job promoting Russian ejection seat manufacturers.
@TheZleky ...Of course they are......their naval assets are sitting at the dock slowly rusting away while the air force can't get enough fuel to allow their pilots enough flight time to stay current and army troops go for months without pay. Yes....the greatest nation. Beautiful music though. Bravo for Shostakovich who wrote great music in spite of Communist efforts to stifle him.
I love this video,There is a god when men like these exsist, I want to meet peope like this, cos the next time I fly home to my home country, I pray by God that one of them are my angel!! <3<3<3 Love them
@wolfman383 Let me find a common point here: I agree that setting a military video to a peaceful intricate waltz is not a natural thing. Of course, had it been a march - that's another story.
Such an incredibly composed waltz choreographed to jet fighters taking off then exploding their ordinance on ground targets?? Shostakovich must be rolling in his grave.
@wolfman383 Why would Shostakovich be rolling in his grave? The fighter planes are Russian, and Shostakovich was a Russian patriot who wrote a lot of music to celebrate his country's suffering and victory over Germany and its allies in WWII. Defending Russia is just as important today, isn't it? I am sure Shostakovich would be proud.
The Slavonic March in B-flat minor by Tchaikovsky. In 1876, Serbia was at war with the Ottoman Empire. Russians sympathized with their fellow Slavs and Orthodox Christians and sent volunteer soldiers and aid to assist Serbia. Tchaikovsky referred to it as his "Russo-Serban March" which would later to be known as "Marche Slave".
i love how two entirely different kinds of people like this video for completely different reasons

Very well edited. I like how the shot of the tanker coincides with the trombone solo. Very clever and well done.

@wolfman383 What's your point? Are you a pacifist? Do you get angry when you see videos of your own country's fighter planes set to classical music?
Or are you specifically a Russia-hater and think that Russian composers share your hate for Russia? That's hardly the case. For example, Wiki says:

Dmitri Shostakovich, March of the Soviet Militia, for wind band, Op.139
Sergey Prokofiev - March for Military Band in Bb, Op.99
I am sure that American, French, British and other composers also wrote music for their military.
