I appreciate you dont agree with this video fully now. There is so much to owning a horse, just in general care and keeping track of their daily health. I find many people think just since they learnt to ride that makes them ready to take care of a horse by themselves, which probably isn't the case.

anybody know whether I'd be able to own or more likely half-lease a horse at my barn? Coz udk if I'm good enough.... I can canter but haven't galloped ( we aren't allowed too), I can canter jumps up to 80cm (but I haven't jumped for ages), I can ride baareback a little, I can do collection in walk and trot, working on canter, I can almost walk-canter , I can do like turns on the forehand, leg yielding etc, I can groom, lead and rug horses and I know most symptoms of ill health... soz to bother

I still have her, and still love her just as much!! but horses are a BIG responsibility i keep her at my grandmas house and its hard... i do ALL the work! Plus, its also hard to get your parents to drive you over there.

I got my first horse when I was 11. But it's a huge responsibility even if you aren't paying the bills. I was out at the barn 7 days a week & I also lived next to the barn so I didn't have to rely on my parents for transportation. There is ALOT to think about before you get a horse. Don't rush into it.

Owning a horse and looking after some one elses horse are two completely different ball games and most people who dont know anything about horses are usually the ones who's horses end up leaving or moving again and it just isnt fair the horse a horse needs a place for life.

I am not saying this is you, but it just really bugs me how everyone is wanting their parents to buy them a horse , but dont actually know anything about horses You could have spent 6 years riding in a riding school and help out at a yard every day for nearly all day that doesent mean you know how to look after a horse.

@cassiemyclyde no.. but you do realize that no one is just born with the ability to know everything.. you learn as you go along... i have seen that if people really truly want to learn how to care for a horse they go all the way.. i for instince wanted a horse for so long, and as soon as we moved next to a riding stable i started to help out in the stable, in return the owner let me exersize some of the horses and once i rode hilary *my horse* it was the only horse i rode on.

Look, I know you want a horse (I do to!) but it's unfair to put pressure on your parents! One time, I said to my mom, "I wish I had a horse", and she said that she couldn't afford it. A few hours later, she emailed a local horse ranch that I used to go to summer camp at, if I could volunteer. We got a response saying yes and we got a print out waiver. So I pretty much work around 6 hours away and get about 1hr and a half of riding. I learned that you should just take what you can get.

i asked my mum years ago for a horse she said no :( but a few years later i asked her again she said shell think about it so then we talked about it and im paying for the brushes and bridle and stuff and shes paying for the saddle and were getting a horse for adoption my place is perfect because i live in country side :D but i mean you should talk to your mum or dad about this i was nagging for years and its paid off :P i hope ive helped good luck horse lovers ^^ because my dream has come true(:

i never had a pony or a horse , i had a mini once but she didnt seem very happy she seemed sad and depressed but we had to give her away cause my parents didnt think i was taking good care of her and they thought i didnt have enough responsobility, but i think my mini was sad because she was born with her back right leg twisted and it was hard for her to walk :((((((

i did have a horse ...but she was only on loan for a year ....it was 7 months ago that she had to go :'( ....my parents keep saying that i will get a horse ...but they arent doing ANYTHING about it ...im looking for one but whenever i show my parents one that i like , they say that they are "too tired " not that i dont love them i adore them ...but this is just unbelievable!!!!!! i think that you should have a pony EVERY horse lover deserves a pony !!!!!!!!!

waaaaa i sooooo want a horse in a field surrounding my garden but u can't get that in the city :( I suggest try getting A stars in tests then say can i get a horse please? but if it doesn't work when ur older try to be a vet(u can be with horses sometimes doing this, only bad thing is u have to inject it or something Dx) cuz it gets u really good money. then u could have it in a stable or move to countryside(which i want to do if i get a horse)

That was an amazing vid! i dont ride but my borther does and he talks about riding and buying a horse just like u did in the vid. i feel so srry 4 him and u cause i think that if ur a really good rider (not just some1 that wants a horse 4 no reason), r responsible, and r dying 2 get 1 then u deserve a horse. everytime i go with my mum 2 pick my bro up from a riding lesson it always makes me so sad wen all the riders r riding their own horses and my brother doesnt.i hope u both get a horse!
