For those people who are so up in arms about Healthcare reform, I think that you should apply your "logic" to all "socialized" programs in America. Don't send your kids to public school. Australia has Medicare. Total freedom to have private healthcare. Private healthcare is reasonably priced and offers greater benefits. $8000 for 2 hours in emergency is a joke. People are always warned to take out travel insurance when travelling to the US because you can go broke if you get sick there because of exorbient costs.
Actually while I support universal and medicare in Australia it's not "total freedom". As a single person earning over $72,000 I'm forced to have private health or pay and extra 1.5% in the medicare surcharge levy. I cjoose not 2 have private & pay the extra tax because I dont believe in handing over cash 2 a private company when the govt should pay 4 it - besides the govt also then give the private HF's hundreds of $M's every year as well.

For those people who are so up in arms about Healthcare reform, I think that you should apply your "logic" to all "socialized" programs in America. Don't send your kids to public school. Don't use the Public library for anything. Don't use the USPS. No Medicare for you when you get older, No Social Security when you retire. Tell the government you don't want their handouts. You won't be paying for it when the times comes.
Don't be hypocrites. Put your money where your mouth is.

They are bankrupt because they keep increasing the payouts to keep up with inflation but they people they are giving money too didn't put that much in. They are also drawing money out for use in the general fund. The money is being pumped out far faster than it is being pumped in.
USPS is broke too. Even Obama said that while he was trying to say the government is capable of running a successful system.

The advent of email and the rise of UPS and FedEx has caused the problems for the post offices NOT inefficiency. Neither Medicare nor social security is bankrupt but the threat is that it can down the line and that is because the conservatives keep throwing wrenches into anything that they don't like which is just face it, capitalism. For example, could the government "take care" of it's citizens by forcing some go to on a diet?

Australia has Medicare. Total freedom to have private healthcare. Private healthcare is reasonably priced and offers greater benefits. $8000 for 2 hours in emergency is a joke. People are always warned to take out travel insurance when travelling to the US because you can go broke if you get sick there because of exorbient costs.

Actually while I support universal and medicare in Australia it's not "total freedom". As a single person earning over $72,000 I'm forced to have private health or pay and extra 1.5% in the medicare surcharge levy. I cjoose not 2 have private & pay the extra tax because I dont believe in handing over cash 2 a private company when the govt should pay 4 it - besides the govt also then give the private HF's hundreds of $M's every year as well.

Conservatives are just bitter about Democrats now because George W. Bush sparked so much hate to America and the Republican party from across the globe. In the past Republican presidents at least had some respect but Bush blew it and because every non conservative hated him, the Republicans are rebutting by hating the person that replaces Bush. In August of 1993, Clinton wasn't hated for trying to reform healthcare and fix the economy that was screwed up by 12 years of Reaganomics, just like in August of 1981, Reagan wasn't hated for the MASSIVE AMOUNTS of defecit spending he did.

Public support for the health care reform plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats has fallen to a new low as just 42% of U.S. voters now favor the plan. Check the Zogby and Rasmussen polls! These were the same polls that said Obama would win the election so the are not some pro right wing polls. People want true reform not the shit Obama is asking for!

When the people polled were actually given a concise statement outlining the basic healthcare plan being considered in Congress, the number of supporters went from 42% to 53%. It's cut and dry. The only reason people are so against actually getting reform is because they are being lied to and are being doused with scare tactics from Fox News while the rest of the media are not setting the facts straight.

There has been a poll where 77% want a public option. That's an important component. This makes sense on several levels, people simply declare bankruptcy with the inflated costs now. Republican lias don't want people to know the truth.

They are the SAME people who LOVE and would NEVER give up our Fire Departments, Law Enforcement, Court Rooms, Paved Streets and HWYS, Libraries, Medicare, Social Security, etc... How is creating an "option" to keep private ins or buy ins from our gov to help keep cost reasonable and ensure that all citizens can afford coverage somehow worse than the above social programs, right?
