Doug"s sound continues to amaze me. That sound is so thick and heavy it's like honey dripping off a Swedish girls tush in February! So close to sounding like it could be in a metal band and so sonically pleasing to the listener.
His tone is killer, not to mention is playing as well... The only pedulla bass that I've play was a fretless, it looked exactly like Doug Johns' bass, but in white... Those basses are extremely comfortable to play and they're well balanced and don't "neck-dive" when you're sitting with it... I need one of those basses...

Can't quite get the sound off of my pickups. But maybe if I raised them I could..... but could I afford to replace them?? Probably could with that cool sound and extra gigs that it would create.... DJ is GREAT!
you can always raise the hight of your pickups if u want to be able to hit them, unless u have fixed. you could also lower the tension of the trust rod
Echoing another poster, I cant believe I've never heard of this guy until now. A world class player who has his own unique voice on the instrument. Hard to do in this day and age with all the great bassists out there.

1) The tone from his style is sharp enough to cut through glass.

you can always raise the hight of your pickups if u want to be able to hit them, unless u have fixed. you could also lower the tension of the trust rod
