Belew is wonderful. As far as the Hendrix and Belew comparisons, I always felt that when an artist(as Belew and Hendrix clearly are), their prowess is already a given and it's just a matter of who communicates with you the best.
god damn people comparing musician's are annoying.
your comparing these people is like putting a cake in a boxing ring with a pizza. and completely based on opinion coming up with a victor... stop being assholes and just listen to the music.
Adrian doesn't even try to hide how he's been influenced by Jimi Hendrix. I've met Ade a few times. Adrian has gleaned from several including Hendrix, The Beatles and Zappa. He's had a great education with the excellent resume he's compiled. He's also done quite well innovating on his own. He's got toys not available way back when and uses them with regularity. Adrian is a really great guy. If you ever have a chance to meet him, you should.
Holy crow! I put this up almost as an afterthought...imagine my surprise when I check it out after a year and find near 14000 views...sure makes me feel like a loser...lol...I can't get that many views ON PURPOSE for my music! lol
:(
Hey it sure is strange all these Hendrix/Belew comparisons...'different beasts' for sure!
@davidfinkledrums Not even in the same genus or species... I adore Hendrix, but he'd have had a lot of growing up to do, before he could EVER come close to Belew (or Fripp) in my book... He wasn't even in the same SOLAR system with these guys... C'mon... Thanks for the post btw, I freakin' LOVE Adrian Belew... You should check out the King Crimson, Adrian Belew, & Robert Fripp playlist on my channel, you'll love all of it I'm sure... Peace!
@SingingStarchild2012 Dumb ass who do you think they learned from? Hendrix is the master, all you stupid white boys as usual try and steal shit then come back and pretend your the best or the ones who create shit that you didn't/
I doubt if Hendrix would say anything of the kind - more like the other way round. Belew isn't in the same league as Hendrix, or a few others I can mention!!
I'm really proud to agree with you. Belew is DEFINITELY not in the same league as Hendrix... any more than Neil Peart is in the same league as the Little Drummer Boy. Belew rolls up Hendrix and smokes him every time he touches a guitar. Just because a guy is dead, doesn't mean he's a great guitar player.
@guitarosaur If you ever meet Adrian belew make sure you tell him about Hendrix. Those guys (adrian belew, satriani, steve vai, uli roth) many others, started playing guitar because of hendrix, I have a vid of adrian' saying hendrix was his whole reason to keep playing guitar..Ask them who is the most important artist of the 20th and 21st century they say hendrix, before the beatles.Hendrix changed music..If you play guitar learn1 (hole song) from(Axis bold love Andy aledort) He plays sloppy but
@arundel213 Huh buddy guy was a great blues guitar guy at the time,'' Lets see,''Hendrix took that and anything else he could come up with that was available 45 years ago..Hendrix got his licks from them, But none of those blues guys nor did the psychedelic bands of the time played music like ''moon turn the tides or, 6 was 9'' ' third stone from the sun'' Not to mention other artist lyrics were not near as colorful or expressed themselves the way hendrixs did back then, Castles made of sand?

"LOLZ," as they say. I love all the Hendrix-hating in here. I have a distinct feeling that very little of you know really what you're talking about.

This is very cool. It has nothing to do with Hendrix or anyone else. Hendrix is/was great too.
It isn't a race :P

Adrian Belew is allowed to do this because he's already proven he can play by the rules and win.

hendrix would probably ask to have some lessons from him instead of sounding like buddy guy ALL the time !

hendrix said so, when he first met king crimson, after shaking hands with fripp, he left saying, this is the best band on the world
