Thank you for your nice comment. I am sorry if the sequence offends you. We sing this as the composer arranged it. He probably was not a military person and probably arranged the song as to how it works best musically. Given all of that the main thing the choir and orchestra wish to express is our Thankfulness for the men and women that serve and sacrifice on our behalf.... God Bless!
I do thank you for honoring our military not many people do but when I joined we were taught that version. Personally I don't know why they changed it around because I've heard the CG song sung so many ways it's hard to know which one is the real one! but thank you and your church God Bless each and everyone of you!!
Hello..The lyrics you mentioned were originally penned by Captain Francis S. Van Boskerck in 1927. It is my understanding the words were changed in 1969 to the modern version. The composer of this piece obviously decided to go with the modern version. That in no way minimizes what Captain Van Boskerck originally wrote. It is just that this is the version that Prestonwood chose to use for this service. If you are a veteran, regardless of the words I wish to express my Thanks to You!
No offense but the Coast Guard song is: So here's the Coast Guard marching song we ding in land or sea through surg and storm and howling gal high shall our purpose be Septer Paratus is our guide our fame our glory too to fight to save or fight to die AYE Coast Guard we are for you!!!
Please be sure to check out the newly recorded patriotic song "Freedom 911" by new artist Joshua, feat. J-Kwon & Gino Green. You can check it out, right here, on The Benita Show. An awesome tribute to our Armed Forces and our Great Nation.
WOW!! Thank you so much for posting. I'm a retired and proud member of the US Military and have many friends who themselves continue to serve or have family members who are.
I want to express my personal grattitude on the uploading of this patriotic and uplifting reflection of the American spirit. It is truly one of my favorite and 'feel good' uploads of any of the ' us armed forces medley ' versions available online.
@usapropertyrights You are most welcome. It is our choir and orchestra who are thankful for the sacrifices that our members of the armed forces make on our behalf. This is but a small token in comparison to what they do. May God Bless You Richly Today!
It moves me to tears when I hear the piece with just musical instruments or with a choir with it. My late great grandfather served in WW2, my late grandfather and late great uncle served in Korea, an Uncle in Vietnam. I have a friends and family currently in the Navy, Air Force, Marines and Army, when I hear this I think of each of them and hope they are well as they are stationed throughout the world right now.
Thanks for your kind words. You may be correct as others have mentioned that before. This particular arrangement is performed how the arranger wanted it. He probably was not a military person. Most likely a grateful citizen. God Bless!
I'll say what ever I want squid boy! The two songs are performed by proper protocal beside each other. And unless you've served in war time like me...YOU are the one who should remain silent!
As a 16-year career Marine, I take offense to any US citizen telling another to "remain silent" because they don't agree with what the other has to say. A service member telling another to "shut up" is particularly egregious and offensive. IF you've fought in war-time you SHOULD be able to comprehend this. Perhaps find a more suitable means of expressing yourself. From the looks of the replies on your wall, it'd be a well-advised move.
@reconteske -i have expressed my views to many a soldier-all males i have met online about the war etc. I have been called everything but a white person by these same soldiers just because i disagree with some things.
@292x1 Thank You for your kind reply. As to the order of the songs I was not familiar with the order you mentioned. You should know that the choir sings the Salute the way the composer has ordered it. Perhaps the composer was not aware of this. I will pass your comment along to the music staff at Prestonwood.
If this has offended you please accept my apology. The song is meant to honor those who have served our country.
@292x1 Correction, order of precedence is Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard. Marines come before Navy because the Navy disbanded for about 6 months back in the late 1700's.
To the best of my knowledge all the gentlemen that represent the respective services retired from those services. I'm pretty sure none are on active service.
Thank You for your interest. I pray God Will Bless You Today!
@KLsemperFi7 if you think the military are posers then you can go to a different country because they dont give their lives time and families to protect people like you
@LTJGNJROTC i found out later that these were retired men, therefore answering my questions/doubts as to the legitimacy of those men up there. and get off your high horse thinkin your little JROTC, its a freakin joke, like boyscouts.... you dont deserve to wear any uniform till you earn it
Saved the BEST for last!

Dear Prestonwood you NEVER play/sing the Navy song without it being followed by the Marines Hymn. They are ALWAYS to be conneted. Never separated!
