I love lentils and cooking them in a pressure cooker is awesome. People have no idea how much time they could save using a pressure cooker. I use mine every day. The electric ones are awesome and are excellent for those who are afraid of traditional ones. You don't have to watch them either.
@21durres I cook Lentils all the time.. and its the easiest thing to cook.. You must either not be using it right, or have a bad Pressure Cooker.. People should not be discouraged.. Its the easiest way to make lots of healthy foods.
All of your recipes are very nice. Even though I am vegetarian, I still watch all of your videos. Please try to post a few more vegetarian recipes too!
Thank you for posting this. I learn something new every day. I love Lentil soup, I usually make my soup with brown lentils and rice. What a wonderful technique with olive oil and cumin (I have cumin but it would never release the flavor) I'll try your technique . Have you ever tried Grape seed oil? It is great for dishes that you don't want to use olive oil, you can cook at high temp, or room temp.
Oh really did i know barack obama can cook dall??? the house nigger uncle tom also knows to kill a thousand muslims a week in pakistan the country that invented dall as a dish! so whats the relavence who gives that a shit what that mongrel half breed nigger can cook. Niggers dont have any cuisine anyway
Hi Sheba, olive oil is healthy with salads (uncooked), once olive oil is heated, it produces some toxins which is very unhealthy. Canola oil does not produce the same toxins as olive oil when heated.
btw pressure cooker exploding is not a MYTH. it exploded in our kitchen when i was 10 and the food was pasted on cieling, luckily no one was in the kitchen (probably thats why it exploded lol)... so guys do pay attention
it happened with me too.... but unfortunately i was in the kitchen but dint get hurt ... but the explosion was immense..... from that time i have a pressure cooker phobia.... :))
thank you thank you thank you! I'm a fan of Indian food, and I've been wanting to know how to cook Indian dishes for awhile. I'm going to make this very soon.
The taste will be slightly different as the two are different lentils. You can definitely use the same recipe with red lentils. I plan to do another video using red lentils. Maybe a while before I get to it.
Your videos are great. Tried this recipe tonight and it was delicious. I loved the cumin seeds. Realized I bought yellow split peas instead of yellow lentils. Are they similar in taste? Thanks again!
Do you have a recipe for "RAITA?" I am sorry if I did not spell that right but I just love eating with just about everything. I of course do not know how to make but I do have a friend who shares her "Batches" with me. But I need to learn my self!
You do have a good friend who shares with you. RAITA is a very simple dish. There are several variations - I like the Loki RAITA the best.
250 Grams of plain yogurt
200 Grams of Loki
Pinch of cummin seeds
1 table spoon of oil
4 to 5 mint leaves
Salt to taste
Grate loki and boil in 1/2 cup water. Mix the boiled loki, Yogurt and salt. Fry the pinch of cummin seeds till they start cracking. Garnish with hot oil and cummin seeds. When ready to serve add Mint leaves on top.
Actually Sheba is right! Cooking with a pressure cooker reduces cooking time, which means less electricity or gas, depending on which kind of stove you have. Electricity is mostly made from burning coal (in the US), which releases CO2. So does burning natural gas. So, using a pressure cooker does reduce global warming :)

Nope because it reduce the time she can eat faster and get hungry sooner and she pass gas and shit so damn much for obvious reasons that she gotta leave the fan on. using a fan uses electricity which in turn creates CO2 more - out the power plant and uot her asshole
I like the way you explain everything. You ease my mind on using a pressure cooker, I have considered going today and purchasing one this afternoon. Thank you very very much!
I really enjoyed this recipe. I had never made lentils before. I always liked them at a restaurant. The way you show how to cook is so very healthy. I have also tried your Roti. Excellent recipes. Thank-you.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Good idea to add cooked peas. I have done that too. Not sure whether you blended it. If you blend it would be a good soup.
thanks for posting your pressure cooker tutorials. this vid stops at 4:04 for some reason :/ it might be youtube...will try again later.

Cool recipe but - Why add spices without frying them first ?
(It is advised they be added after frying to extract their flavor/aroma otherwise they remain inert and give a "kachcha" after taste !)

Looks nice. Could put it a can of diced or ground tomatoes so it won't look so yellow. Don't fill the soup bowl so much! LOL.

Split peas are Channa Dal. Yellow Lentil or Thoor Dal would be Arhar Dal. The taste is different. Split pease usually take longer to cook.
The recipe can be used for both. I will post another recipe for the Split peas but it may be a while before I get to it.
