Hungerford was an artist who we lost too early, a victim of a drunk driver who deprived us of someone who could stand with the best of them. He was also a great photographer (!) who took the stills for NBC when they aired a special on king Tut's tomb. He was very interested in Egyptology, and his premature death was a great blow to many. I attended a concert where he performed the op. 111, and in the slow movement he cast a spell over the audience. I will never forget it.
Hungerford is one of the greatest (relatively) little-known pianist of our age. His playing is the pinnacle of sensitivity and depth. His reading of the the last four Beethoven sonatas can stand with anyone's interpretation. A great, great man, who we lost way too early in his great career. Thanks for posting this!

Hungerford combines intellect and robust expression. Beethoven does not lose his head but is very much Beethoven in this piece.

Incroyable qu'un tel artiste ait pu exister....et dire que je n'en avais jamais entendu parler...
Pourquoi cette omission??
