(continued) Fans have to remember that while they may be the ones who buy the tickets, they don't own the property and only have the right to offer suggestions and feedback about what they don't like. The owners of the property have the right to do whatever they like. It's true for Epcot, it's true for Star Trek and true for any other entertainment franchise that has fans. Let go of the perceived possessionship of the property and enjoy what's been offered to you.

I honestly don't see what FigmentsFan has to be angry about. It's Goofy entertaining a crowd before park opening on a very big day for the park. Everyone brought their 'A' game that day, especially the Goofster.

The whole 'no characters in EPCOT' thing didn't last long at all in the 80's anyway. It's what the public wants and the characters "strengthen the brand".

Hey MakBot !, I hope that Figmentsfan will learn a bit of a lesson when they find My Reply to that comment. I have always been inspired By Disney`s Characters and The Disney Characters are what makes The Disney Parks Special.

But they are now extending the boundaries with their characters. Stuff like EPCOT Center, the Disney Hollywood (MGM) Studios, and Animal Kingdom all had their own identities. One was about looking into the future and the cultures of mankind; one was about exploring the wonders of how people make motion pictures; one was about realizing the delicate balance we have with nature and how to help it. Now, it's all about the magic, the little kids smiling, and Mickey Mouse.

I wouldn't mind seeing Mickey sometimes during the opening hours. But overfilling him and the gang into bigger, better concepts is what irks me.

Thank You, FigmentsFan. However, I am glad that Your Mickey and the Gang statements are kind of Fueling My Good Inspirations. I have 4 Words for you ....... Magic Kingdom NEEDS EXPANSION. Disneyland in 1955 IS NOT JUST Disneyland in 1955. I would Love to see more of The Magic Kingdom reflect a Spectacular Rendition of TODAY`s Disneyland " Magic Kingdom " Park. THE ORIGINAL PARK in CALIFORNIA.

Although I'd also love seeing some things come back to Disneyland (ATIS, PeopleMover, and MTTNW) and see it at least partially un-Disneyfied, you raise a point well taken. Maybe a clone of the long gone and forgotten Holidayland, or the moving of Star Tours to Tomorrowland, and the revert of ExtraTERRORestriel Alien Encounter.

Or, Mission to Mars. There's a laundry list of what can be done and what Disney is willing to do. Bringing the Subs back and ousting that play area will be an excellent start.

Amen about The Subs !!!! I remember riding that ride when I went to Walt Disney World back in 1983. I wish that I could go back there to be honest. God, I miss that place SOOO Much. I have been having A Return of A LOT of Disney Attacks for the last couple of years and this is one of the ONLY WAYS that I can feed it right now. I CAN`T WAIT UNTIL CHRISTMAS.

I never got to ride Horizons. Thank God that I have some music from that though.

There won't be too much extra space now. The new CEO has been trying to sell off as much land as possible that Walt stived to get.

Three words: I Love That! Another classic, like Horizons and WOM, that Imagineers tried to "plus," but effectivly "minused."

But that said, there's no way to ignore the fact that Disney owns Epcot, and developed Epcot and have every right to do whatever they like with Epcot. I understand there's a small community of purists that don't want any hint of Disney characters or movies to appear at the park, but I can't believe it's that important an issue to make you "vomit" (literally or figuratively). Please, Be careful for what You say about Disney Characters at Epcot, Moreover, when Your comments are placed in an area that can be seen By People like me who Love Disney Characters.

Did you note the key words "made specifically for EPCOT Center" in there? He's gone slightly beyond, but remained as a whole an EPCOT Center title. He was there from Year 2, made specifically for EPCOT Center. And he will always be. I have no problem with that.

I have always said I am a purist, and none of you can change that. EPCOT Center has been a place to discover the wonders of mankind and its various cultures, not to see Mickey and Goofy. And that's what I think.
