Was this before the movie was released? Does it have any relation? I can imagine that there is a lot less red tape when your working with two franchises within the same studio. Freddy vs. Jason only happened because New Line bought Friday the 13th from Paramount to make Jason Goes to Hell. Then a lot of people felt it was inevitable with the ending where Freddy's claw reaches out of the ground and grabs Jason's mask for a vs. not to hapen

this toy line was way back in 93-94, based off the popularity of the comic books and Capcom video games really, all kick-started from that one scene in predator 2 where there is an Alien skill in the pred ship. The movie was being written then but it wasn't till 2004 when we finally got it.
