it seems to resonate with so many of us...just sent it to my lady...or should i say ex...we have made the same claim to each other....not there when needed...all that to say...this song makes me weep

Tage, I love Alan Parsons Project's "You Won't be There" ....Scarcrow's Dream by Dan Fogelberg is still my fav. but this is a close second by you >:))
This song bothers me even today... I expresses the feelings well of those who lost loved ones that decided to go thier respective ways even when bitterness didn't become the deciding factor.
@TheTonypizz never thought something I posted would be answered a year later. I was referring to a love lost to age difference. One day it was over and we both agreed. I was blindsided then and never looked back. We were both free of one another to go our seperate ways s friends. What a switch.
Yes...what a beautiful song. I can relate so well....don't know how long I can "hold on" to someone who doesn't want to hold on to me. This song has really touched me.
Very good and emotional. Some fans could not like it for the mental images from this song are quite personal, but I like it.
Intentional or not there are a couple of APP references: the wall with small window at 0:50 resembles the photo in the innersleeve of the album (Eve), we get ravens. Fav moment 1:18-20: "So if they turn off the light of the sun, why should I care?"
You hit the nail right on the head with all your comments; Urbania. wondering if you or anyone else knows if Parsons and Woolfson will ever get back together. I'm guessing they split up because woolfson's voice was beginning to show signs of age?
1. As E&A write on the expanded edition CDs, reunion is unlikely although not impossible. Indeed they worked together on those editions.
2. Splitting occured because Eric began writing theatrical musicals.
3. Eric's voice absolutely didn't give signs of age as it still doesn't now.. right now Eric publishes an album where he completes APP incompleted songs and sings on all of them with his voice of always.
nice. made me cry.

I know. I changed the title to try and protect it during the recent WMG purge in YouTube and never got around to changing it back.

Beautifully sung, arranged and written. Very eloquent and poignant.

Dave Townsend sings this. Does anyone know anything about him?

Beautiful, poignant - more so because I am separating from my wife. Gothic imagery perfectly reflects the state of my soul

@Rabinowitzstu : You're right, there's nothing like this song to pass thru a broken relation

Eve was APP's best album, I think. Nice work.

Still in reply to sonriseonceagain:
4. Even if Eric lost voice that wouldn't have been a problem, as his main roles were songwriter and keyboardist and APP had lots of vocalists.
