DoD-Source was utter shit, THE DoD BETA WAS A TOTALLY different game! CounterStrike stayed the same but DoD got fucked bigtime when switching engines...

It's like when people say they loved a "classic" like "Baldur's Gate" or "Battlefield 2," and then you have to explain to them that the PC version was 1000 times better than the PS2 crap-version they thought was so good...They'll just never understand...

I enjoied both Day of Defeat and the Source version. I think that if Valve put some attention to it, it could be an awesome multiplayer game of WWII, BETTER than Call of Duty...

In My Honest Opinion some improvements could be: update of Source Engine to latest release, texture update to HD and more realistics ones, more weapons and so a class update and a better damage model.

You know I really do enjoy Source, but you know what I miss? Having weapons that actually did damage.

Seriously, I remember the betas feeling like one-hit, one-kill type gameplay that kept it fast-paced and tense like no other game, mod or retail.

There's no reason why it should take so many fucking shots from a BAR, an MP40, or fuck even a Garand to kill someone. Bring back the old damage model, Valve.

just for the people wondering what the heck this has to do with 9-11, this Beta came out about 2 months after 9-11 happened, after 2.0 there were about 3 versions then final 1.0 was released in mid to late 2002. Beta 2.0 bascially signified when DoD started going downhill, as it got more realistic the gameplay slowed down alot. i loved the fact the M1 Garand killed with one shot nomatter where you shot them, gayness on a stick it was called... i loved it back then ;)
