@279mach No, the latest for me ice fishing here in Ohio was second week of March. There still ice (but UNSAFE) here on some lakes. I went fishing last Saturday for the last time. Still was 8 inches but at it;s height there was about 18 inches. BUT.... once when I was about 12 years old I remember ice skating during Spring Break, Which is usually the first week of April.
lmao! "ya finally got one over 3 inches"!!! i didn't catch a lot of big bluegills this winter......a few 8 inch gills but most weren't bigger than that 1st gill in this video! great video
@drmmr45: Well, as you can see in another video, an ax (splitting maul works best imho) to chop a hole. I recommend a rectangular hole...4 chops long by 2 chops wide. :) Make sure you cut down on ALL sides evenly and stop when you are just shy of breaking through. Make sure it's very thing on all edges before you chop the rest of the way through; saves you from getting wet from in the process. Don't chop if there's less than 3 inches or so can be dangerous. Lot of work, but it'll do in a pinch.
@rNdDynamikkDuo well we found another way....my dads chain saw lol it works better than an auger, i think an ax is worse is because it will spook the fish but boulth prob work
wow i aint never seen somone get so happy about a perch. here in maine most people consider them a nusence. if i spellede that right if not u know what i meen
@galexion: Well, we are pretty much rookies, love catching anything through the ice, and don't have such a negative view of perch in the first place. Go away; don't rain on my parade! jk. Thanks for the comment.
@FishboiFishboi: Well, I like meal worms best for sunfish, meal or wax worms best for perch. Regular worms work as well, but not as consistently in my experience...and their not as tough, which can be a problem when there's a lot of small ones nibbling it.
@AP1671: yes, I liked it, but not saying there aren't better ones out there. This project took maybe an hour and a half. Once you know what you're doing I'm sure it would take much less.
three inches is enough to fish not so safe at two but six we drive snowmobiles on the ice with six. rookies yes but you caught fish so well done. where u boys located don't they ice fish much?
@kendragreat Thanks. We were both in Northeast PA back then. We've both moved on to other regions now; school, etc. Growing up stinks! Haven't fished with this guy in a couple years now.
Pretty cool video, looks like you guys had fun! Gotta love the outdoors. I'm gonna try to get a turkey hunt on video this spring! I may even try to get it w/ my bow.. Anyways nice video.
You know all are sponsers will be upset since we didn't mention them in the end credits. I mean thats why they give us a six figure income. Best video yet!!
nice, catch and release thumbs up for that
