I sang this song years ago in a church( Victory outreach amsterdam) and there was a man in the church , a visitor , who wanted comitt suicuide. When i went home a member called me and she told me about that man, But becoz he heard the lyrics of this song , instead he wants to commit suicide, He gave his live with tears to Jesus,
I thank God and Jon Gibson for this wonderful song.
Jon GIbson is back! He has encouraged and blessed us over the years with his music, and now he needs our help! Here's his message: Help me to launch my new CD. Go to kickstarter web site, type 'jongibson' and make a pledge. I've only got until March 14th to make my goal as kickstarter works, if you don't make your goal on the deadline, it all just goes away! This is the difference between me having a CD out this year or not. Thank you so much & God bless you, love Jon Gibson
When I first heard this in the EARLY 90's I thought that Stevie Wonder did a gospel song. THen I remember hearing that it was Jon Gibson an ,Awesome singer. I believe in an interview he admitted that Stevie Wonder was a great influence on him. This particular song I think we wanted to do it in this style as a tribute.
Its such a touching song. It really caresses my emotions and takes me away in the love of God.
I often wonder.... Has he been bought to Stevie Wonders Attention? :)
I remember when I came to see Jon Gibson at Dove ministries in Las Vegas over 20 years ago. I sat there and shook my head over and over again, goin "he's white?" He has been a blessing in my family's music collection for years and years and God has blessed us tremendously through him. May there be a new upsurge in his music, because it really is timeless.
Oh my gosh I listened to this song a hundred times when I was younger... I learned lots of singing from ya Jon... I did go to see you in OH.. took a pic with my oldest that is 21 now... you held him in his arms.. I love your songs and voice..thanks for what you gave and what you give.
man this brings back fantastic memories of younger days! got through some tough times singing this song! gave me strength i never knew i had! thanks jon gibson you rock!!
I had a friend that lost his life.. recently sad to say.. He loved Jon Gibson may he rest in peace.. No offense life's too short to hold grudges let them go and let him in and if you lost someone may the peace of God rest on you.. I know h'es resting in peace.. Amen..
Love this song sooooo much as well as "there for you"!!! Truly amazing, uplifting lyrics. Jon you have a gift!!! Thnx for teaching me how to play overjoyed!!! It impresses people every time. :)
grew up a friend, and big fan of Jon's when I was a little kid, he was signed to Frontline Music Group the label my dad Jim Kempner started and ran. what vocals Jon has!
This is one of the songs that really ministered to me when I first got saved back in the day. haven't heard it in a while, since the KFSG days in L.A. He sang it at Victory Outreach "Chino/Ontario" not too long ago... Awesome blessing. He also did That song that goes, "it's the same old story you've heard it before, but this time it's gonna knock ya to the floor, you can't live without Jesus anymore..."
You can order this directly from Jon's website. Jon also has new stuff posted for his fans ONLY. . . get on the mailing list. Jongibson(dot)com Visit my blog: spinthat45(dot)com
@Losassaman Says Forbidden - You don't have permission to access on this server :( Try again tomorrow I guess... Brilliant singer / songer writer tho - Trying to change all the tapes I have to CD's now...
I love this song, if you got somebody that needs a lift give them this song. Cause we are called to minister daily... Find a way to share his love. For someone needs it everyday.
@dandvc I know what you mean, I looked and looked for it on itunes, and never found it. I did finally find a copy on cd on amazon, so I then put it on my itunes account, and have the mp3 copy right on my desktop to remind me of the feeling this song gave me back in the late 80's.
Heard this at 2 in the morning on an AM radio station when I was 15 years old and falling apart. I didn't know there was any such thing as "Christian Rock" or whatever. Just flipping the dial. I was already a believer, but something deep happened to me ... it all goes by in slow motion in my memory.
When people ask me about important spiritual moments in my life I always think of that night first. Man, I can still remember the exact feeling of it. Nice to hear it again.
Jon you rock!! I remember discovering his music back in the late 90's and was hooked. If you get a chance listen to his song entitled "I found a home" and it will bless you soul. Thanks for the post.
Me too! One of my favorite Christian songs of all-time. It says this song is from 1988, but I could swear I remember hearing it in early 1987. Must have been another song that sounds like it.
