  • i want to learn punjabi now.. if the translation sounds so good, then how good the original would be?

  • Guru saab. Thanks for the translation. The Punjabi is very difficult for someone who isnt completely fluent. Its complicated by the fact thats a poetic form. So thanks for that.

You should consider translating other classic Punjabi poetry.

  • nice song and nice poetry i miss my home and family

  • This is THE best song I have ever heard. I love the poetry of Mr.batalvi and the amazing voice of Mr. nusrat fateh ali khan. both are unmatched. I am sure god is enjoying their poetry and singing right now...If india and pakistan come together they can create magic. why cant we just forget which coutry we belong to and just be only a human being and get along ...

  • any1 hu dislike dis vedio is a fool

  • Kosay kosay sanwaan dee jay karan main takore maeen sagoon sanoon khan nuun paway - Wah g Wah - Very Deep - We are lucky that we hear this great comnination of two great artist - Nusrat and Shiv Batalwi - Trust me - Both great humans and an example for haters want to destroy both nations India and Pakistan by fighting - REst in peace MR Shiv and Nusrat Sahab. ---- Love from Pakistan

  • really amazing song by my favourite writer shiv kumar batavli it is a heart touching song

  • the talent of( nfak and shiv kumar) waiting to see that magic again , i hope i will hear that in my life, i am 25

  • If I was a catholic I would have request that Shiv Kumar ...another coming of Bullay Shah...be declared a saint just like NFAK and Mehdi Hasan from Pakistan and Naushad and Kirshan Chander (late) from India.

How lucky I feel that I was on this earth to witness Shiv Kumar and Nusrat , one who could write like this and another sing like this. I didn't know human can come together for this kind of achievement.

Piay o mahal hai...jai de wich pakhon bena hore koi na raway...

  • ur kid not ganna think this way

  • Too bad we had to wait for NFAK to come along ...that we are able to appreciate Shiv K...another Pakistan born talent that went across the border to realize his true potential. Now we should repatriate all the Pakistani Bollywoood personalities and investors who have lead India in every aspect even if we could just Sindhi 's back we will bring back more then half the wealth of India :-).

  • be miss u 4 ever

  • what can I say, such a very very nice song, I pray for all the mother's, who are still alive in this world, and all who passed away.

  • @MrGularif it is about lost love.

  • @mhb7816 I hope you have a family now to love and share your family's memories with. Best to you.

  • @catsmew Many thanks dear...Yes indeed .....Allah bless you

  • Mashallah Bhai! My dear friend has just died and feel exactly like that right now....

  • There are good writers and singers....and then there is Ustad Khan and Kumar Batalwi...a class above them

  • The translation for the first lines should read more like this: O mother ,my songs are filled with the pain of seperation or O mother the pain of seperation suffuses the eyes of my songs........"

The poet talks about the pain suffusing his songs and not literally his own eyes....this is sublime poetry.

  • This is a match made in heaven.I don't think anyone except ustad sahib could have done full justice to Shiv Kumar Batalvi's bruising lyrics. Thanks for posting it here with translation.

  • awsome...........and unforgettable

    luv u

  • roo roo mein thak geya...................tere yaad nahi ande menu.. te pule nahi paya it been 3 year.......mein lagda ce tu ph kare ge but nahi...jado ve private number tu ph a nada mereya dil wich kush hunda lagda may be its u......i love te nahi kinda tenu hun per tere yaad kyo hun takh ande a menuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu fuck....

  • I believe centuries will pass but no one will be able write such prestige lines in Punjabi. These lines must be included in syllabus may be at Collg/Unsity lvl. What a superb singing matchless style & voice + quality grabbing heart ri8 frm 1st line. Behold

"bhay bhay sogandeyan ich banhan phahay chan-ni de tanvien sadi peerr na saway"

"I applied moonlight swabs after soaking in aromas yet it can not bear our agony"

  • i agree

  • A Outclass song by a outclass singer

  • reference to context of this song. does any one know?

  • listening to batalvi ji's (may god bless him with watevr he longed for) crations has made me read all his possible biographies.....and i still carve for him....so plz if u know bout any book on him do mentionit here....plzzz......and upldr thankx...great job

  • the english translation has a great room for improvement.

espacially a huge mistake i belive is made by using "him" when it is essentially "her" (in eastern poetry female gender is used to symbolise sorrow). but its still a good effort indeed.

    thaks for sharing this masterpiece.

  • Great! Thanks. long live Punjab east and west

  • Beautiful song, Hamid! Thanks for sending me the link. I think it's great that there's a translation into English. A very powerful song both musically and lyrically. I like that the translation seems a bit awkward when read in English, but the words are very deep and mournful. From deep sadness comes a yearning for love. It reminds us of our humanity. And that we need guidance and support to deal with hardship. Thank you, my friend!

  • u r d best
