Remember, this is just a demonstration of the principals of heat > boiling water > steam production > generation of electricity. The boiler is heated in this case with 110 V AC electric, so obviously NOT a practical way to light a 3 volt bulb...but remember, just demonstrating a principal in miniature. The boiler "could" be heated with wood, coal, alcohol or other fuel if converted...but that is not the point.
@IndianaRog what about a big lense to heat the water..can't remember what they are called..but you can aim alot of sunlight into a very small area and get almost instant steam..run this all day..and charge batteries for night time...it's feasable.

That's exactly how an electric power plant works, steam drives the turbines that produces the electricity we need and use!
All we have to do is boil water.
