  • yo how do i set up my rotary knobs?

  • also what do you set your bars to in recycle?

  • i'm a fan of your work... any advice at all? i'm wondering how you played a melody out so easily....

  • The first who has sampled that melody back in 1999. was Croatian producer Koolade for group "Tram 11": /watch?v=9suYrzyvg8o

  • @MakaveliTheDon22 Actually DJ Bazarro sampled this even earlier in '97 for "A Soldier's Story" for Brain Dead.

  • What software you using to chop up the sample? I'm a mpc guy I got reason but never got around to using it

  • @seemose recycle

  • I have been sitting on this sample for a long time. I would have never chopped it up the way it was done here. I am glad I didnt mess with it I would not have done it justice. Nice job!

  • man you aint no 8 years old lol

  • what software are you using?

  • imho you could use this shit or you could use real traditional instruments (and get similar results) or u could just use this shit and sound like a robot ur choice bitches.

  • Are you just using reason or anoither program too?

  • hey I just picked up the mpd24 and my question is...How do i cut up the sample in recycle and put them in the pads on the mpd24 with reason? like what your doing here. Can you give me a quick rundown on how this is done? Id love to get this going now that i got everything i need. If you could that would be chill bro.

  • sampling is the shit, dont let nobody chats shit bout sampling, if you know how to sample then thats a way of making music, if you really know so much about music then you should be able to appreciate any kind of music, then you will understand that sampling is not ruining music taking the composers piece of music and turning it into ur own style, WHY DONT YOU HATERS TRY TAKIN A FUCKIN SAMPLER AND SAMPLING SOMETIN THEN WE'LL SEE WHOS RELE SKILLED!

  • Hey sup! Love your work man!! One question, I guess you work on mac, right? what program do you use??

  • @KillaCityMO

I'm not an amateur, I dont put my shit on youtube for you little boys to steal my shit.

  • @cdsplaya

Of all the talented creative minds I've met, the only ones who obsess about not showing their process; are the ones who can't adapt with nothing more to offer.

  • @JimmyXXL how am I obsessive about not showing my process? I have better things to do other than set up a camera to put a video of myself on the internet.

  • chill out i'm only 8 years old

  • @cdsplaya wow. Thats cold

  • k listen mr.fucken master producer or wat ever. you obviously dont no too much about MUSICAL PRODUCTION hahahaa or music let alone hiphop. music is selective man you cant tell someone that kinda shit. you just look like an ass. i love this kinda shit man. you probly like that new school hipPOP shit with nuthin but synths rappin about money jewlery and hoes. sampling is where its at my man. DRE kev brown 9th wonder j dilla alchemist and little kids like us. REAL HIPHOP

    SICK FLIP THO

  • @antonioWiseGuys

I'm not even going to say anything other than if you think that this garbage compares to Alchemist, J Dilla or 9th Wonder -- you are retarded. You forgot to mention the best producer of all time Peter Phillips aka Pete Rock.

  • RZA's the best producer ever. period.

  • @Trajiq187

I'd like to retract my earlier statement, DJ Premier is the greatest producer of all time. I would agree that Pete Rock/RZA could be in either 2nd or 3rd place....

  • sorry, not agreeing. Rza produced more tracks than Premier and Rock together... The artist Rza signed became more famous. All of his beats are more craziest than the previous one. Rza will always suprise you with a new broken sample over a grimmy as shit drum. Rza's the backbone of the biggest hiphop group ever, The Wu-Tang Clan. Ain't nothing to fuck with, since 93. Peace

  • @Trajiq187

What do the artists he signed have to do with the beats he produced. Any producer that knows a nickel from two shits knows that DJ Premier is the best producer of all time. THERE IS NO ARGUMENT... From the standpiont of producing Hip-Hop, there is no better than DJ premier, and there is nothing you can say. Saying otherwise proves you know nothing about hip hop.

  • I love RZA/Mr Boddy Digital and Permo, But what about Pete Rock, 9th Wonder. Lets not forget Dilla and Madlib and Georgia Anne Muldrow these are all original producers.

  • @antonioWiseGuys

You obviously dont know much about anything. Considering you do not know the differences between the words 'know' and 'no.' Until you prove that you can read/write at a 5th grade level, please dont talk to me.

  • just quit well your ahead mr. master producer school teacher now. your a fag man end of story lesson for the day quit your net arguing man i was just making a valid p;oint and you had nothing to say about it cuz you no im right . so then you try taking shots at my spelling. you are truly a fag and probly someone most people have a hard time getting along with. dont even reply because your an idiot and dont no too much about mutual respect. peace

  • @cdsplaya WTF are you calling this a shitty sample? LMAO, so youre saying AOTP doesnt know shit about music? Youre telling me Shuko doesnt know shit about Hip Hop?

You saying this sample is shit, knows nothing about hip hop. Because some awesome beats have been made using this sample.

Ignorance.. is gonna be the downfall of this world for sure.

  • @rockatheman1

When did I ever say this sample was shitty?

  • @cdsplaya You seriously need to shut the fuck up. Yeah, this isn't that great, but I don't see him claiming to be some top fucking producer and bragging about all his shit like you have so kindly implied. Go up your dosage of ritalin and get back to practicing on your dad's electrical keyboard.

  • @cdsplaya shut up dick head

  • @cdsplaya

dude stop being a fucking hater...let the little man do his thing for the love of hip hop...

  • @cdsplaya obvious troll is pretty obvious actually

  • shawty redd sampled that for Young Jeezys trap or die mixtape a few years back. I think its the Air Forces track. its a great find tho, keep it up

  • I have an mv8800, fantom s, tascam 1884,and krk rokit 5s for sale. cheaper than ebay. If anyone is serious, send me a message.

  • FIGHTING IN DA CLUB-I-20

  • Nice UA pressing. Peace.

  • what thing did you use when you press the buttens whats it called

  • is setting the mpd24 up with reason hard?

  • hey i was wondering if u can map each slice to diff pads on dr. rex and also load multiple samples on it like nn-xt like slice 1 on pad 14 for example. thanks.

  • Thas class man

  • thats dope what did u use to cut your sample up with

  • that's recycle. its by propellerhead.

  • what a sick fucking sample..

  • The Lonely Island used the same sample on its track "The Heist." Peace.

  • what program is that?

  • its reason and recycle bro

  • fl9

  • goood shit son

  • you need to replace the battery in your smoke detector. dope setup you got there

  • HOW DO U MAKE UR SLIDERS WORK!?

    vid. plzzzz

  • in reason or fl?

  • Nice drums, nice sample, nice chops!!! Peace

  • D O P E

  • @nytvshn Done Or Perhaps Ended? :P

    ah, just kidding (:

  • Okay, you sold me. I'm getting a goddamn sample pad for my music laboratory.

  • sick

  • just got my mpd and it's ON!! great video. learned a few things...

  • nice job

  • WTF! that song was meant to be sampled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    very majestic beginin

  • AOTP - battle cry

  • Electric Light Orchestra - Tightrope (Remastered Audio)

  • Whats that sample called? I've been looking for samples like that, like with a dark side thing :p

  • I wanna know the set u have using the mpd 24 with reason 4.0. Is it better to have a Mpc 5000 or a roland mv8800. Would the mpd 24 do the same job as the mpc and roland, practically. Far as chopping your samples and slicing um. Sending the samples to your pads.

  • how did you pitch ALL chops at once up ?

in dr. rex you can only pitch every slice for its self ?

  • klingt nach sido goldjunge ^^

  • Hey Bud..How do u "hold a sampled note" in Reason. Like when u press a pad or key down with a sample loaded into it, keep holding it and the sample still stretches and holds that one note (sample). And keeps holding til u let go of the drum pad or key?? I am using Reason 4. Can this be done with Dr. Rex and NNXT sampler???!

  • love the sample, got this on vinyl the other day, dj kechup used it along time ago, cant remember the name of the track though

  • which knob u used to pitch all slices? and u use nnxt or rex?

  • yes check your midi control options and change the velocity. that goes for a midi keyboard as well

  • thats some nice shit bruh.... check me out !!

i sample with ableton an reason

  • this goes heavy

    mad props

  • rex is the programm to slice it up right????

  • Yo that shit is mad raw lol, I'm really thinking of getting an mpd24

I got a question tho and sorry if you had this question before, what program did/ are you useing to edit.. cuz i got a mac too and i'm tryin to get something els then garage band.. lol

  • yo how do you put it where you dont have hold the button down to play the part it just plays by tapping it?

  • on the dr.rex, in the lower right hand corner, you will see amp envelope. now there's level, "a", "d", "s", and "r". the "r" is your release, if you raise this up, it will raise the release so that the sample will play without you having to hold the pad down on your mpd.

  • thanks dude i appreciate it ive been trying to figure it out for a while now ha

  • 1shot- thats what its called on logic

  • do you sometimes sample mp3s??

  • not to meantion Sandpeople used this on Picture Perfect, ELO have some dope tracks to sample, always worth diggin through the tracks of theirs you arent familiar with

  • the beat is nice i like it. Stay up word. I have the mpd 24 and reason 4 and the same audio key you have but the mini 1 and m audio monitor speakers. I didnt even open anything yet. All these items i have in my closet for about 2 months now. Im waiting for my macbook in about 2 weeks to come in. Than i could start working on my stuff. You should see me soon on you tube brooklyn my nigg Peace

  • AOTP used the same sample :D

  • can you tell me how you set that slider to mess with the pitch? i can not figure that out...

  • only works with dr/ rex player when you have the mpd set to the 'Reason' preset

  • dope !

    what should i buy :

    - akai mpd24

    - korg pad kontrol

    - m-audio trigger finger ????

  • mpd. i heard pad kontrol is almost better tho. mpd's are solid still

  • amazing :O

  • Do you need recycle to create precise chops on the md24

  • naw there are different methods of chopping and mapping to pads, but rex allows you to have all the chops in a contained file instead of chop1.wav, chop2.wav, chop3.wav, etc.. its just chop.rx2

  • what do you like better about rex than nnxt for sampling if you're not looping? O_O

  • rex. i find it much easier to setup than nn19/xt

  • question - when you push the knob thing at like 4:25 to pitch up the sound, is that connected to reason? if so what are you tweaking in reason to pitch something up but not speed it up as well?

  • yea. its usb. the reason preset on the mpd automatically sets the mapping for the knobs and sliders. each patch does different things (rex, nnxt, nn19, subtractor, etc..) and F4 (slider) on Dr Rex is set to Tune.. so i'm changing the speed as well as the pitch- not timestretching.

  • dope, nice vinyl collection

  • yo memorecks, been peepin your sh... for a while. nice beats. yo. do you ever timestretch. if you do what program do you use?

  • time stretching sounds weird. i tune

  • So did you actually sample from that ELO vinyl you pulled out at the beginning? Or was that just for show? If so, wouldn't it be easier to just download an MP3 of the song? I've just always been curious about this when I see people digging through crates for sample their stuff. Obviously a lot of tracks you can only find ON vinyl, but this record for instance is pretty popular and already available in digital form

  • its the vinyl. sampling off vinyl is cooler than mp3. for technical and social reasons. analog>digital when it comes to hip hop hip hop.

  • I totally agree. I prefer analog myself and have a fair amount of vinyl. I just thought that when you record an LP in to your computer it stops being analog at that point, thus defeating the purpose. Now that I think about it though I guess you wouldn't lose anything unless you converted it to an MP3...I guess I'm not smart enough for the technicalities, but I do agree that it's important in a cultural respect. The pop's n clicks you get are pretty dope to.

  • the very beganning of the video, your house makes that same exact noise as mine!!!lol

why does it make that noise ??lol

  • smoke alarm needs new batteries

  • thanks for sharing your knowledge mate...i learned so much by emulating what you do...soon ill be doing my own stuff...big thanks

  • This has been used countless amounts of times. Most famously by AOTP on "Battle Cry" which is a sick song. Ive also heard a German hip hop group use it.

  • i know that sample ... its a song fro the game called *gettin american money easy*

  • the local Pittsburgh group called GOV used that exact sample except they didnt freak it at all...just used the beginning first couple bars as ann intro then looped the next xouple bars. its still hard tho lol. you did a good job too tho

  • Hi can u please hel I rember using my midid keyboard with recycle on my old computer but now I seem to to cant use it with my new laptop I cant rember how to set up my midi controlls in recycle please help THXs

  • you cant use midi controllers/keyboards with recycle

  • hey man nice beat can you help me im stuck with my mpd

i use reason and i wana know how to program my mpd drumming pattern in the reason sequencer?? i push record and i start drumming but wana i play it back it sounds bad plz some body help me

ps i play my drums from a drum loop from dr.rex

  • play it right and record it. if you cant play it, then sequence it in redrum or go back to fruity loops or something

  • What programs r u useing?

  • reason and recycle

  • Thanx.

  • i just looped it...found it easier that way

  • I dont know whats up with all the negative feedback this shyt was cool I didnt think AOTP even chopped up that song it sounded like a str8 up loop. Quick question tho do you think reason is easier/better to sample and use with the mpd then flstudio??

  • i agree with most people about this not being that great. i just wanted to point out how some people just loop the hell outta things. i coulda came way harder with that sample. check out my new vids still

  • BOOOOOOOO!!!!

  • alright flip. check out sandpeople

  • say what are you running your turn table through on you laptop?? the only ones i know of are the kind that convert the track into a mp3 which are like 200 something dollars. But yours looks standard.

  • Don Cannon Used that sample for a Young Jeezy Song Also.

  • thanks for the headache..

  • damn homie you cant use this sample

be original taking shit from Army of The Pharoa's battle cry.

    nice try kid...

  • aotp wasnt even the first to sample this. also, aotp looped the sample.. there was no flip. so its not theirs to take from kid!

  • Could you post a video showing in detail how chop up a sample and load into the pads on the machine.

  • In Reason, can you raise/lower the pitch of a sample w/o it altering the tempo?

  • Good Job!!

But how did you program the mpd to get control of the pitch with the controller

    F4???

  • just right click the control you want to be moved (in this case either the osc. pitch or the pitch bend wheel) and click on "Edit Remote Override Mapping" from there... click on 'learn from control surface input' in the mapping window... move a control on your control surface and it should automatically detect the surface your using and the control. just push ok and it should stay that way!

  • Is there a way on recycle to chop a 4bar sample in 16ths like an mpc or u have to manually draw in each slice??

  • yeah take the loop or sample you want and use the grid make sure you move your right and left locators to the size of the sample then draw them in but they will all be the same size

  • What you mean by the grid man? how does it put it into 16ths?

  • if you go to the recycle videos on youtube it will show you all about the grid, its an option to help you out, but it doesnt always work with every sample its mostly for choppin up drum samples, and making them into one hits

  • Thanks my dude

  • Same sample as Battle Cry - Army of The Pharaohs

  • change batteries in ur smoke detector yo

  • woow

  • Yo, when you hit the trigger with the release all the way up, what do you do for that sample to stop playing with you hit another trigger?

  • set polyphony to 1

  • thank you! :D

  • ELO is good shit son..nice choice...check out my beats

  • hit the 'one shot' button. (or it might be called 'single shot,' but it's something along those lines.)
