RIP Moat house roundabout (Harlow Essex) to Staple Tye

I used to go to Brays Grove school many years ago, a number of times there was a "crump" and looking out the window, a lorry has fallen over on that roundabout! Fun days!

It's a universally acknowledged fact: ROUNDABOUTS CONTROL TRAFFIC FLOW BETTER THAN CROSSROADS!! or whatever the fuck you call it.

another complete fuck up by the ever consistantly shit harlow council,,,,,,hang on ,,u get to a rounderbout ,theres nothing coming ,,so u carry on moving ,,,,,now,,u get to traffic lights ,theres no one coming ,,,,u stop ,,,,,causing more congestion,,,honestly i dunno wat harlow officials will think of next ,,,,,it took me a hour to get from staple tye to the moat house on a sunday afternoon 1 day because of this crazy idea ,yes on a sunday,harlow council,the worst in the country by far

the roads in harlow are shit,not a dual carriageway anywhere, avoid like the plague if poss, its gonna get worse with all the new houses being built and not a thought to the road network...the A414 at eastwick should have gone on to the M11 when it was made into a dual carriageway early 80s...its a shambles!!!!!!!!!!! schoolkids could plan better than the idiots who caused this..

Thank you for that. Born in Harlow (Westfield), I moved abroad in 1987 and now live in a new town in Hungary. I went to Stewards and hung around Staple Tye in the evenings. Lived in Bishopsfield too --- the Kazbah. Great memories! I guess it's getting on for 10 years since I went back and don't recognise anything - even though I was a keen cyclist all around the town back in the day. Cheers!

Thanks for your post was recorded usinga a Panasonic TZ3 Compact Digital Camera, love them just upgraded to DMC - FT1 HD.. You need good cameras to make it worth bothering really.

Every day I drive this route to Sumners. this is not a bad idea really in years to come people will look at this type of video in the same way you look at old photo's of years gone by and the changes around you.

I can understand recording something like this. If this were an old cine film from1974 or 1964 there'd be quite a bit of interest. It's often the mundane stuff that doesn't get recorded and although it might look a bit 'boring' now, it can only get more interesting as the years go on and things change. After all, compare Staple Tye now and how it was 20 years ago. I'd love to see footage from then.

well the every day just passes, and this is a way of recording it, things will change over the years the cars, the streets etc, plus some people grew up there and moved away, or abroad!. Hopefully you get the picuture! may I ask why you wached it?

but in answer to your question my mum and dad live overseas now and they have not been in the UK for 20 years so the reason I did it was to show them..

Yes I know that bit of road! I wnated to get some film of this road to preserve 2008, as the cars will change, the trees will grow, and one day I am sure they will make it one way or no cars allowed!!

I'd like a pound for every time I have driven down this road. Right at the start as you approach the roundabout with the Park Inn on the left if you had gone straight over, we did that one night and got done for speeding at 4 mph over the limit.
