I do my best to respect all insect and arachnid life, but I'm sorry, a surprise insect is not a welcome insect :( When I see one of these that is easily three inches long scuttling up a wall or in the bathtub with all its legs... I can't help but be terrified :(
I saw one in my house and I have news that it hasn't been seen anywhere else in India. The one that I saw was black colored, had red legs, and REALLY big pincers. I had to go leave it outside because of my Mom.
very educational in the description...they are creepy looking but than they do play a good role so maybe I'll keep them around to control other pest...spiders I do like and don't kill them in my house
These little critters are beautiful and so misunderstood. They are mostly harmless to humans and are actually beneficial to have in the house as they kill many insects. I think they are adorable, but never handle one with bear hands, they have a stinger which resembles a leg and their back end, also they bit but that has no effect's on human's
And introducing first. Fighting out of the red corner... he is the leggy lowlife from Louisiana. He stands at 6" tall if splattered all over the bottom of a shoe.
ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE THAT THEY AREN'T AGGRESSIVE! HOUSE CENTIPEDES ARE NIGHT HUNTERS AND COME UP TO HUMANS AND PETS AND THEY SENSE WHEN AN ANIMAL IS ASLEEP AND THEY PENETRATE OUR SKIN WITH A NUMBING AGENT AND THEN TAKE FLUIDS FROM OUR BODIES FOR SEVERAL MINUTES WITH PIERCING, NEEDLE-LIKE MANDIBLES! IT TOOK YEARS TO FIGURE OUT WHAT CAUSED THESE HORRIBLE, ITCHY RED MARKS ON MY BODY! BEWARE THE EVIL HOUSE CENTIPEDE! KILL EVERY ONE OF THEM IMMEDIATELY! TOTALLY SERIOUS. There, I feel better now.
Today I found a huge one of these puppies in the downstairs cellar; when I turned on the lights it ran into a corner and froze. Now me and my friends have this thing goin where we find new and innovative ways to kill them each time lol. So I ran upstairs, got some Febreeze and when I came back down it was still there. I sprayed it for a good 4 seconds but all it did was slow down... so I wacked it with the bottom of the can and it split in half, the front half moved around for a bit then died xD
I once trapped one of these things on a plastic container. Then I didn't know what to feed it so I gave it a cockroach with its eggcase on its ass. 2 days later nothing but a shell was left from the cockroach.
Scutigera coleoptrata, guardian of the realm. I never kill them they are shy and mind their own business. That is, until the need to eat and they become the terminator of the domestic bug world.
@Tyranitar635 Eh, as long as they don't clean their antennas right ON MY FUCKING FACE!!!!! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
one of those fuckers just went through my floor right now like a fucking blurr. i always find them under my fucking bed and its disgusting. idc what they help just get them away
every time i catch a tick or a house centipede i place him the the toilet, pull down my britches and urinate and defecate on them...force them to live in the toilet for up to 24 hours, then masturbate on them, urinate defecate again before rescuing them and then forcing them to live in a bottle of my own urine and blood.
FUCK!! I just saw one of these things next to my freaking bed, on the wall. It ran away after I touched it with a broom... not getting any sleep tonight.
I always have to rescue these guys from my sink and put them outside. They have like 40+ babies in the spring and I see lil tiny ones hanging around here and their. I still get shocked when I see the big ones- but i've learned to like them. They are not interested in you or your blood- they actually kill other insects that's are interested in you.
SOB I hate these things. I get my gun out every time I see these things. I also keep a can of wd-40 and a butane lighter. FUCK A DUCK I hate these bastards. Every time I see these I jump and nervously pace to get a better position.
FUCK! saw one on my celing in my room last night, about 2 inches long!!!! obviously i paniced, paced around for about 15 minutes before finally being able to get rid of it.....it looks like a sick death metal band logo!!!! but yea.....didnt sleep in my room that night and have been avoiding my house since.........
to tell you truth i've seen these little guys for the past week all over my house, i grew to like them :) they are pretty cute actually :D sure loads of feet are intimidating but look at his little face:)
@TEENgirl92 lol same i keep getting shivers and looking at the floor something about these things that creep e out more then any other bug even earwigs..
These centipedes are very creepy looking, but if you have them in your house you will have a lot less other bugs. They feast on cockroaches, crickets, ants, anything smaller than them. They're pretty good natural pest control. But, as I said, I wouldn't want to wake up with one looking at me.
Silly things, there was one on my mousepad. First time I've ever seen one that wasn't in my basement. Must have come up through the hole where my ethernet cable goes through.
These things are pretty harmless and they feed on other bugs. They might look strange and I certainly wouldn't want one crawling on me, but they're okay.
holy shit...literaly lol Was taking a shit and something caught my eye. Of course turn to my left and 2 feet from me is a big ass centipede on the wall. Scared the shit out of me (I love puns) Moral of the story towel vs centipede towel wins
These things scare the living fuck out of me. I'm a 215 pound guy who works out and does MMA and it doesn't matter how big or how skilled you are at fighting, when you have arachnophobia, there's not a thing you can do about it.
I did step on one once and these suckers must be from an anime movie or something 'cause they've got like a gallon of blood inside of them.
@RG350MYE It's okay man, unlike other centipedes they're completely harmless. They eat silverfishes and cockroaches. And yes, they're everywhere, so there are some taking care of your pests as we speak.
@jedihunter176 Yeah, they just really creep me out. But I've lived in the neighborhood I live in now for about 7 years, and I've never seen one. The homes are only about 8 years old around here, and I know they spray land designated for new homes for cetain pests. Is it possible that a pesticide is keeping them away from my neighborhood, and that's why I've never seen one? Or do they just live in my attic or inside the walls or something?
@jedihunter176 Oh, okay. I've seen a few black widows around, and I may have scorpions, so those could be killing them off. Or maybe they're afraid of my cat, LOL.
@jedihunter176 I almost got stung by one while I was moving, too. Without noticing it was there, I actually placed my hand on top of it. After I felt it, I moved my hand to see what I felt, as I was already paranoid about scorpions, and there it was. My 2 year old brother was sitting on the piece of play equipment I was moving earlier, thank God he wasn't stung. That would be terrible. As I've said before, I'm in AZ, so we have bark scorpions, which are one of the most deadly in North America.
I see these all the time in my house. I KILL THEM WITH FIRE.
But seriously, first time i saw one, I practically cried, and then when i tried to kill it, it started making all of its limbs come off and start twitching around on the floor. O__O /mentally scarred/
I've seen only one of these, in my basement. My sis ran up screaming there was a huge silverfish. When me and my mom went down to see my sis didn't even have to point to it cuz it was so big. For once my mom said "uh oh, (calls my dad), this one I don't blame them for screaming about. Get the gun for me". Now I am scared out of my mind I might find one in my bed AAAHH kill me!!!
I'm in yokosuka and i saw one crawling outside one time. freakiest thing i ever seen. i didn't kill it, i was more curious to what it was and found out that these little guys actually help.
i went to stay in france with some guys, when i was little, and there were billions.. all over the house half were dead cos they got hit by the doors, but no one seemed to care so i just got on with my life, insects arent even dirty creatures they are like plants that move just tiny robots, but everyone thinks they are filthy and disgusting, you only ever see biologists catch them and study them up close like you would a dirty anus licking puppy covered in fleas and worms stickin out their ass
@pyroclasm32 What kind of sick bastard are you? These things are the most disgusting looking things i the world. they terrify me. Not only because they look like that, but also because they are FAST! If you give them the chance they will kill you. Alright, maybe not kill you, but they will most definitely scare the shit out of you.
@pyroclasm32 Naturally I agree. I grew up in a house with a lot of these guys, and they really kept the pest population down. My library would have been devoured by silver fish without their help!
lmao @ godof .. yeahh I hate these things to all hell .. I step on em like immediately when i see em ,. its like whaa? noo its u guys again .. omg there so f***in weird lookin n fast ... they can bite n they hurt .. my freind said one crawled straight up his leg halfway and bit em while he stood there n watched .. f*** those guys man lol
this is it! the fucking creepy thing I just killed this morning!!...My apartment got alot of this freaky insects I don't know where the heck are they coming from!!!.....
this fucking shit is the most terrifying shit i have ever seen in my house...there is a gigantic one in my basement somewhere -__-..it fking got away before I could even think of killing it...these motherfuckers are tooooo fast!
I used to have these in my house, so bad, that they would get big enough to see running across the floor in the dark. If I laid on the living room floor in the evening, they would bolt across the room at me, and burrow themselves under me. I would jump up, and they would run away from where I was lying. God, I hated them. Ortho Home Defense is your friend. Haven't seen one in years.
i would probably keep one of the bigger species as a pet but damn even then they creep me out. i really hate them but i let them dwell in my house just as i do spiders, the only difference is spiders don't scare me at all and when i see a centipede i get freaked but ignore them besides i think they deserve a chance they do take care of the cockroaches after all
Ok...i admit it...upclose this centipede doesn't look AS scary as it does far distance...in fact...it kinda looks...cute....just grooming itself.....but still, I can't help but to feel itchy all over and get goosebumps while watching this. I still will scream my lungs out if I see one near me...
So these basterds like water and help us out and for all this time I thought they were trying to eat me...I just killed one but at least they eat bad things
This is a House centepede AKA Glass centepede AKA Urshin from the planet Glaxxexx A425, These little insects are very cool and very fast. I had one as a pet for almost a year. If you really want to see something cool look at one under a black light!
These things are nasty! their called silverfish they like to craw over you well you sleep and it very scary wen you try to catch one and the thing in running across your floor with its nasty feet!
@kshaw98 My dad thought they were called silverfish too because of how similiar they look. But while silverfish have six legs, the house centipede has more than I can count.
I actually just googled "centepede like house bug" to find this video. Just found and smashed my second one in a week. First one crawled out from under my matress and bolted across my sheets at 2 in the morning, this one just ran across the carpet. I tried to catch it but the little fucker was WAY faster than it looked like it should've been.
I'm in a basement and it's getting colder. Had spider problems like no other but not giant centepedes. Now I need to learn to levitate when I sleep.
Dude if he got in your head you would have died. Like, srsly. DIED. Not only would you just, DIE, but you would have a headache in your grave, because the bug ould be in your head repeadetly going, HAHA! HAHA! HAHA! Ya, your life sucks nuts.
one crawled in my ear while i was sleeping and burrowed into my brain now i have severe damage and cannot function like people, I developed a terrible disease where i get herpes like bumps all over my face. I hate my life and attempted suicide 4 times but was unsuccessful. I blame all my problems on the BUG!
Yeesh I used to see these things when my Mom, and I lived at this apartment. You find them alot where there's water. When it's real quiet you can hear their legs moving, and rubbing togather it's damn creepy! {:P Although it's little beedy eyes are kinda cute! {:)
Don't kill them if you can help it! The other night I felt something quickly brush over my foot, looked and saw one of these. I let it continue running on its merry way. A few days later, I woke to TWO dead roaches! It was as if he left me presents for christmas! Go geji, go.
When captured, they eat fruit snacks! Very slowly.
I fucking hate these bugs they creep me the fuck out I woke up today with a shit ton of bites on my back and 2 on the sides I'm pretty sure it was this fucker because 1 minute ago is saw a little one running under my bed SOB lucky my carpet is tan and its dark or else I would have killed him.... This bug makes me feak out with its million legs and centipede look... I hope it does not bite me tonight.... Hahaha I kill them with lysol no joke the alcohol must kill them.
As soon as I no longer need to eat anymore I am killing all other life on this planet!

@pyroclasm32 What kind of sick bastard are you? These things are the most disgusting looking things i the world. they terrify me. Not only because they look like that, but also because they are FAST! If you give them the chance they will kill you. Alright, maybe not kill you, but they will most definitely scare the shit out of you.

joemoma90 1 year ago
@pyroclasm32 Naturally I agree. I grew up in a house with a lot of these guys, and they really kept the pest population down. My library would have been devoured by silver fish without their help!

It's not a silverfish; it's a house centipede. House centipedes eat tons of bugs. Silverfish eat paper & thread.

That's a "horrible creature" you shouldn't mind having around. As creepy as they look, they're harmless to people and eat spiders, bedbugs, etc...

This is a House centepede AKA Glass centepede AKA Urshin from the planet Glaxxexx A425, These little insects are very cool and very fast. I had one as a pet for almost a year. If you really want to see something cool look at one under a black light!

kshaw98 1 year ago
