I was on a tug boat USS Mazepata, we missed the CVN70 coming under the gate as we were leaving Alameda NAS at that time, we did see it moored near the Bay Bridge.
Wasn't able to attend and see my daughter come in on the CVN 70. Welcome home baby girl and a HUGE thank you to all the men and women aboard this awesome ship!!! BRAVO ZULU!!
Thanks for the video. I missed the passage under the GG bridge by about 5 minutes because I had the bright idea of taking Muni that was 45 minutes late.
@ppppccs It's been stationed in San Diego since last year. From 1997 until 2005 or so, it was up in Bremerton, WA then it was in Virginia for 4 years while undergoing an overhaul/refueling. My uncle was on the CV from 84 til 89 and I lived on TI myself for a bit. I still remember the Big E from back in the day
@ppppccs The Big E has been stationed in Virginia since 1990. The CV was commissioned in 1982 and was stationed in Alameda from 1983 until they closed the base down in 1997

Getting into TI is easy, but getting back on the Bay Bridge to SF is a pain though since you gotta go from a complete stop to 60 in a very short time

I was there on 10/8 at the Pier 39 and saw the carrier entering the bay. It was an impressive scene.
I wish I had this guy's camera/camcorder.
