  • This keyboard is basically the same as the Triton LE and TR. I wished that I would have saved my money and bought this one instead. Heck... it's much cheaper.

  • Can you do a demo for, if you have the sounds, fantasia, gospel organ.....please...

  • @enhabit77 Sorry, I haven't had my X50 since early this year. Sold it and bought myself a Roland Juno-Di.

  • baba

  • why did I buy the yamaha mm6 ,,, i could have have had this korg for an few bucks more

  • i like the music in the beginning :) dforrce all the way

  • How's your roland juno di doing? Any pros and cons of each? I would love to know! :)

  • @james07jamesjames I'll PM you.

  • @enthusia492 thanks man! :)

  • Can you do me a huge favor.....on the di board can you please oh please play the preset under synth leads called "Theramax" i want to hear it please? you can upload the mp3 online and give me the link in my utube inbox?

  • @shinnaraku2 Sure, I can do that. Ill record it sometime tomorrow.

  • @enthusia492 ok coollllll

  • Is this better than the Juno Di, pliz help can't decide which 1 to buy

  • @hillz84 It really depends on what you're looking for. The Korg X50 for one thing looks cooler, I know a lot of metal bands use it, and it has plenty of good sounds. The reason I switched to the Juno Di was I needed something more durable. IMO, the body of the X50 feels kind of flimsy. The Di felt much more sturdy for giging purposes. What you should really do is go to your nearest Sam Ash or Guitar Center and try both for yourself.

  • You sold your R3?! :O

    They're amazing though!

  • @RobulusPivot Yeah, the R3 is great but i needed something more practical for gigging purposes. Also, the R3 is purely a modeling synth, I needed something with more acoustic sounds.

  • @enthusia492 fair enough... i recently got an R3, and i am loving it :P

I really want to connect it to FL Studio 9, and i have done, but it doesn't give the same effect that i wanted... any ideas?

  • @RobulusPivot Im unsure what you mean by "not getting the same effect you wanted". Could you be more specific as to what you were and what you got?

  • The start of the music sounds just like the music in this flash game called "Boom Shine" :0

  • So much effort put in to the review visually, yet such poor audio. Or did you have an "AM radio" master effect left on by accident? :)

  • @kaizengarage nah, just shitty camera.

  • does the Korg X50 61 key synthesizer come with a speaker in it? or wud i need to buy a speaker or amp to listen to what im doing?

  • @UrActualDad The X50 includes 1/4" Stereo I/O jacks so you would need an amp, yes. Just a note, if you're wanting to get into synthesizers, nearly all synths over $200

    Need an amp hookup.

  • ok but there is a difference between r3 and x50 , the R3 has the vocoder. x50 more music synthesizer m while the R3 more electronic styles. but why to move to Roland DI, each one has its own features, the sounds of the X50 different from DI.

  • @khajub The Juno Di was more durable for me. Much stronger build for when I'm playing live.

  • @enthusia492

thanks for that , and happy to share, but still each one has its own sound am i right!!

or you can manipulate the sound ??

  • @khajub The R3 Is more of a "Modeling Synthesizer" in that you can more readily modify sounds with ease; it also has the same engine that powers the Radias.

The X50 and Juno Di are basically made for the same purpose, Playing live. They both have a wealth of sounds (Di-1064, X50-864?), they are both light and easy to carry, both have a very intuitive front panel for quick access to sounds while playing live, and you can get both for the price of $700.

  • @enthusia492 Also, all 3 have in-depth Editing Software.

    Thank you Google Translate!

  • @enthusia492 no me referia a eso. segun tu opinion,( X50 vs Juno Di) cual tiene mejores sonidos?

  • poor sound quality of this video...

  • COuld you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do a sample of some trance please?

  • @DannyMcFaddenisgay sorry, i sold my X50 last year. if you would like me to do a different video please comment in the moderator on my homepage.

  • @enthusia492 Okay, that's fine, thanks anyway, quick question:

Does the x50 have choir/orchestral choir patches?

  • @DannyMcFaddenisgay yes, i believe it does have a few.

  • @DannyMcFaddenisgay dont worry, any modern synth does trance well. heck, synths from the 90s excelled at electronic music, so that carries over to the new stuff.

what the old stuff didnt do well was 'acutal' instruments like strings and such, which the x50 does well

  • I couldnt hear shit.

  • Hi, I'm thiking to buy this model. Would be my first keyboard.

I like the design & layout. Maybe I'm wrong but it looks a little cheap.

Are you still happy with it ? Would you recommend it to a noob like me ?

  • @halo2pc depends. what genre are you looking to play? What features are you looking for in a keyboard?

  • @enthusia492

    Thanks for the prompt reply.

I'd like to compose things like Jean Michel Jarre did .. or techno / house style too.

It would be awesome if the keyboard was able to "create" exactly the tune and rythm that I have in my head. I feel like I explode out of creativity. lol

  • @halo2pcfor strictly synthesizer stuff I honestly wouldn't recommend this. its big selling points are live playability and it is mainly by Metalcore/Power Metal artists.

If you just want to create sounds i would recommend (for $100-150 less!) the Korg R3.

    It has: 2 Oscillators (osc1 8 waveforms - osc2 4 waveforms), 12 waveshapes, 2 filters (each with LPF/HPF/BPF), 3x EGs, and 2x LFOs. It also has a 16-Band Vocoder (comes with a mic).

  • You will need to use the included Editor software to change most of this. *see my tutorial video for editor tips*

its only downside IMO is it has 37 keys instead of 61.

  • @enthusia492

    Thank you !

Wow, that's gonna be really hard for me to decide.

A few months ago I found the Controller Akai MPK-61 pretty nice.

I quiet like the idea of using a keyboard without the need for a PC, which only a synthesizer can do.

Or would a masterkeyboard the smarter choice ? Hmmm ...

  • Well... You don't "need" the editor to get into those settings but it does make it alot easier. If you want you can assign most settings to the 4 dials on the R3.

  • I'd like to see some Techno stuff

  • bad audio to understand the real capacities of the x50

    :-)

  • do the organ settings sound good and fat like a real hammond? (Well somewhere close at least =P)

  • @yetiboarder Check out the video on my page demoing the organ sounds of the X50.

  • @enthusia492 is there anything I can use for symphonic metal? If you know of the band "Nightwish" That is what I am looking for!

  • @Escapist3434 sure. if i remember, the very first piano combi was a quite good piano/strings combination. it really just depends on what you want. i give the same advice to everyone who asks, go to your local SamAsh or Guitar Center and try it out for yourself.

  • pianos are really crap on this one.

  • Hi there - great vid - I have a Korg karma which is coming to the end of its life, unfortunately - is the x 50 as good for sounds ?

  • @oysterlovers unfortunately, i have never used a karma so i can't accurately compare the two. But im sure you'll find it does have some pretty good sounds for whatever genre you might need. really just depends on what you like. see if you can try it out at your local GuitarCenter or SamAsh.

  • mahn!!!i own one...its been 2 years now....nd belive me it alwayzz impresses me.....

  • actually there are more sounds after the GM bank that i discovered, if you keep going down the GM list

  • something really cool about it is the arp, you can use it to arp your other keyboards through midi its sick

  • can the x50 record sounds and then edit them into the song? im in a bid on ebay and need to know within 15 hours and 30 mins or else i lose the bid. plz hurry, but dont worry if you dont comment back ive put this on other videos too...

  • are there hardstyle synths and can i cobel it to my pc? :D - like in fl studio? ..

  • can it do techno and rave sounds like an microkorg?

  • absolutely! you'll find 176 in the program section alone!

    63=FastSynth

    39=Leadsynth

    38=Motionsynth

    31=Hit/Apeggiator

  • thank you very much. i'll buy one tomorrow^^

  • does it have a sequencer?

  • no. but the TR61 which ive seen for the same price as the X50 does have a sequencer.

  • Is this keyboard good for using in a metal band?

  • Did you read the description? Underoath, Dragonforce, and Firewind all use this.

look up the mercenary man video.

  • what about children of bodom, sonata arctica, dream theater, and nightwish?

  • I want know that too!!

  • hey.. does the x50 have a mic input on back?

  • Hi,

Since you asked, I would like to hear just the organ patches (jazz/blues/rock, not church / Deep Purple types)

Specially I would like to hear the Leslie on fast and on the last (upper) octave.

    Thanks for your time

  • ill try to make a video for that soon.

  • hi is this supposed to be better than the m3....how does it compare to a triton studio????

  • you cant really compare those with the X50.

The M3 and Triton Studio are really more for sitting at your desk and recording. the X50 doesn't have as many patches as the other two but its also MUCH lighter and very portable.

it really just depends on what your looking for.

  • imlooking to make my own beats in my desk....

weather on the keyboard or on my computer....

  • Unless you have a computer or sequencer Im not sure this is the best idea for beatmaking. You might want a groovebox like the Korg EMX1 or ESX1.

  • i would prefer a keyboard toplay piano and talkox.....so is the x50... like a triton without the sampler and sequencer???? doesnt it use the TRITION ENGINE??

  • yes, exactly. The X50 is a Triton without a sequencer or sampler.

one Keyboard I forgot about maybe for you to look into is the Korg TR61 which is basically a less portable, slightly heavier, and stronger version of the X50. It also has a 16-track sequencer. It has been discontinued but I've been able to find them for the same proce as the X50 at some places.

  • on ebay i seen x50 as low as 100 usually 200 average price....the tr61 is about the same price as a TRITON STUDIO on EBay,,,,, out of the triton studio and TR61 which would u prefer? or recomend?

  • I've never actually played a triton so I cant really give a good opinion about that but I have played a TR61 and it seemed very similar to the X50 (in the way it was laid out). Same simplicity IMO as the X50 but with a sequencer and stronger build.

  • i just searched on ebay and found the thing you saw. that wasn't an x50 for $100; that was just a camo skin.

  • ahh i thought it was the actual unit..my bad lol

  • I've been looking into the organs section more closely and unfortunately it seems you cant change the Leslie speed. I will try to do an organ patches video when i have the time.

  • Organ Video should be available in an hour or two

  • Why you sold it, I just bougt an X50 and want to buy a Radias or R3 next.

  • because I wanted an X50 and the only way id be able to afford would be to sell my R3?

  • great))

  • can you plug a guitar into the back of this and use the synth through your guitar?

  • You mean to use those effects with your guitar? no, Definitely not. You need a synth stompbox designed for guitars.

  • oh ok then, thanks, do you know if you can use it through a v-synth xt?

  • Never played a V-synth. Sry.

  • If youre talking about playing synth sounds with your guitar, you could get a Roland GR-20 guitar synth which comes with a MIDI pickup you can attach to your guitar.

If you wanted to use the sounds of the Korg X50, you could use the GR-20 to control the X50 via MIDI

  • Dragonforce!!!!!

  • Hello! Great video and review. I have some questions because i have bought one too. Does it have a sequencer to backtrack some stuff? I expect a No because i couldnt find it. Well in the case it doesnt have, what can i do to back sth to play live? Thanks!

  • 1. It doesn't have a sequencer but its arpeggiator patterns can sometimes be like a drum backing track. You can also edit the arpeggiator patterns.

    2. im sorry could you repeat this question? "back sth to play"?

  • Thanks, i imagined that becuase i could not find any sequencer. I was wondering what can i do to put some tracks on background to ound while i play something, (exanple some brass on background while i play strings) that is used to play live

  • it depends. Some combi's (combinations) will have a certain arpeggiator pattern that will be like a backing track. but like i said, it depends, you'd have to look through the combi presets ti find one that ur looking for. Another option if you prefer is to layer or split the keyboar and play your background part yourself. IMO that can prove to be a bit more difficult though.

  • Yes, that is true. I can split and layer to play simultaneously like 4 or 5 insturments, but its kinda difficult in some cases. Im trying to make an orchestra where i play the strings (or other insturment) while brass section and some voices are playing. I have another keyboard to playback some parts, but seems i cant connect it, because it hasnt a midi jack(casio ctk800). Some people told me that i can connect them via usb. Could that be right? Thanks for your time!!

  • it MAY be possible to connect the two keyboards you mentioned. if you buy yourself a "MIDI interface" which for a decent one goes for around $120-200 it might work. you need to see if you can find one that has a [1/4" phono input and obviously a midi out.] no guarantees though. I really dont have much experience with MIDI setups. try asking around in some forums.

  • Ok, so i would try to get a Midi interface and try sometihng. Meanwhile i will ask in some places, to get some information and opinions. I thank you very much for your time and help. I suscribed to watch more of your vids. See you!
