@RichardMNixon I agree. Why he didn't just release this Atlanta show as his live "Glitter and Doom" album is beyond me. The version on NPR is amazing. And I am very sad I can't buy this version of "Hoist That Rag" online. The instrumentalists are perfect on this version.
I remember very well when I first heard this song (album version). Was very excited that there finally was a new Waits album. Listened to the first track and was very impressed. Then Hoist came around and I was totally blown away. Still am. And allways will be. It's Waits' masterpiece of masterpieces!!!
P.S. On my version of Glitter and Doom this song isn't included. Where can i get it?

In the soundtrack of my life this song was playing behind the comings and goings of the republican national convention, especially when the people in the stands started chanting USA and screaming like mad after romney pledged that radical islam evil and we will defeat it at all costs; yea war, hoist that rag!

Fucking genius ! ! !

Nobel Prize? It's not good enough for Waits. It's a joke. They gave it to Obama before he ever did anything worth commending.

The intro bass line makes me think the devil is in an elevator going down to hell about to host one hell of a party.

GENIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
why he doesn't get a nobel prize still puzzles me. If nobody's been doing shit in physics this year, just give it to tom! =)
the solos were amazing. the guitar playing was almost as good as the album solo bij marc ribot, and the piano & sax were also fabulous.
has there ever been a moment in his life where tom was NOT a genious musician?
TIP: read 'innocent when you dream', Tom's collected interviews!

@Methelin Thanks for the tip. I'm gonna get the book - always loved his interviews.
