  • I've been told by others much smarter about things that I should run my Onan two cylinder with flywheel @ wide open throttle to get best efficiency from engine. I'm sure that Onan and Deere engineers wanted it run that way. However, I'm one of those old people who drive their car @ 55 on the interstate. I'm in no hurry, if I was, I should have started sooner. Nope, as long as the governor doesn't keep opening, I will drive it @ a speed I feel comfortable with. If gov. opens, I'll notch it up.

  • Further explination of reply made about 1 month ago. Neighbor across driveway is city cop! Neighbor across street is a piece of work, Period! I can't push snow onto cops's property for obvious reasons, yet at all other times of seasons, his rain water can come onto my property, hench a new driveway installed to channel water along property line and away from house. We have city ordinance that dogs can not run loose, yet this cop is above that. He allows his dogs to run all over neighborhood.

  • DO THEY COMPLAN WHEN THE SNOW PLOW COMES THRU? JUST PUSH IT TO THE OTHER SIDE NOT ON THEIR PROPERTY. IF THEIR HOUSE GETS ON FIRE WATCH IT BURN. CITY PEOPLE

  • I've enjoyed this setup for a very long time. But this year, we are changing things around. Because of neighbor complains of pushing snow onto their property, a Buford Bucket was bought. Not that I'm anxious for winter and snow, but am anxious to use it. Probably a video for it's use in future. The snow will be removed to back of my lot. Have video of installing Buford Bucket. Search my other videos. Thank You!

  • Sweet! Looks like the ag tires and some weight are all it takes to get through the deep snow. Love your setup!

  • I don't like chains. We have had very good success running our tractor with about 400 pounds of suitcase weight on the rear plus my big rear. In ten years, I have used chains only twice and that was for just a few days each.

  • Does it work good without chains?

  • If they don't want their kids around, maybe they shouldn't have started their kids in the first place! I don't know everything. Not in my wildest dream am I that good, but I still remember the time when I finally realized that my son did things much better than I. He has much better skills than I ever could have imagined. I knew then that I had done what God had wanted me to do.

  • My son and I enjoy the time we have with our 318. Driving it is a pleasure not a drugery. The longer we can spend with it the better, i.e. we don't overdo it. This same philosophy extends into the mowing season. Have you ever noticed how many people using a riding mover of some kind have a smile on their faces? There is a reason! They enjoy the time they have by themselves doing a job.

  • @52361doug people dont understand what you are saying as they dont want the kids around

  • Push it! Give it some gas! Lets not take all day!

  • Have enjoyed this tractor and rig for several years. Only change would be if I had a real two cylinder motor, ya with flywheel, like Model A tractor. Loved those sounds. Onan not bad. Exhaust stack entention was necessary to get stinking smell away from cab. Whew! Everyone seems to run air cooled engines wide open. Never have myself. Like the half throttle setting most of the time. Caster mod works real nice for me. Since this video, I have installed thick rubber edging on blade. Really like it!

  • @52361doug These engines are designed to run wide open throttle for power ratings and cooling. As long as the engine is not overheating thats cool since it has lasted so long but you are not getting the full power of the engine when going half throttle. You do have a real two cylinder engine by the way and it does have a flywheel. It is different than the engines you are talking about.

  • its smoking

  • nice low tone out of that exhaust. onans have a nice low end

  • Have had good luck with mod. Each caster is cast iron, no rubber with weight capacity of 1k each. Attached where Deere had shoes. Casters are adjustable. Tractor in working order and driver weights close to 2k. Wouldn't trade it for anything else. Could send pictures and drawings of caster mod if interested.

  • interesting mod on the blade , seems to work very nicely .
