  • is this in nairobi or where?

  • @Generalidibabu This is Eastleigh, Hampshire in the UK.

  • Dude that was my uncle gary there saying "there's nothing to do, nowhere to park, nothing to do anymore"..bahaha

  • what a shame

  • Eastleigh? what a dirty shit heap.

  • Eastleigh much better now. its way better than it used to be. especially with the new cinema multiplex thing which is awesome. all the shops that arn't there anymore weren't anything major, so yeah.

  • What the hell are you on about! No one wanted or needed the cinema. People thought it would increase traffic, but instead, it just puts distracts people from the other shops, and is WAY to vulgar for Eastleigh. And some stupid idiot decided to make it out of plastic, and paint it yellow. It looks more out of place than Green Day performing to the queen.

  • I love the way you think.

  • LOL thats pretty much right tbh.

Its just become a new chav hangout at the stairs and in the bowling bit...

waste of money because most people would rather go to town and its not as if people are gonna travel from town to go to eastleigh cinema

  • Well try telling Eastleigh Council that, the cinema has a rent free lease for five years from the council that the local tax payer is supporting..!! And you still have to pay to go in and watch what is no more that a video tv, NOT REAL FILM AT ALL.!!

  • im 15 and have lived in Eastleigh all my life, Eastleigh is in a decline at the momnet but with the new cinema multicomplex Eastleigh should be able to rebuild itself, i hope

  • It's such a shame really, hopefully the new Cinema and Bowling alley will help to revitalise the area.

  • I am originally from Eastleigh, its a prime example of a town being ignored by the council, they say that there isnt much that they can do and that its the governments fault, but its there job to do all that they can do to stop it. I am now in a band up north our new song clear and present is basically about Eastleigh

  • myspace/iamcasino in case anyone wants to hear it

  • arc, the record shop was called jack hobbs & it was near the mini diner cafe.

  • I'v Lived in Eastleigh for 19 years, and i remember it being a nice friendly place, but now its gone way down hill, theres more vilonce, I do go out nearly everyday, but its not as fun as it use to be, the Children and the Teenagers have no where to entertane themselves now, now about the shops, there are too many hair dressers and fast food places, we need to cut down on them and put more clothes stors in, i think thats what is more important these days

  • Thank you so much for taking the time to comment on this video. Thank you. Matthew.

  • Matt, I had to fly home last month. I went to the new cinema development. Mixed reaction I must say. I can see where budget has hit and things sacrificed. I was there for the snow. Had to come back at a moments notice for family reasons but it was good to be back even for a short time.

If you want to get passionate about something I think the airport expansion proposals should be challenged!!!!

I hate what they are doing to the town hall. Very crude proposal.

  • thats Eastligh!?

I loved it there as a kid ...yep scruffy old shops that were friendly and interesting to a little kid.

One day I'll go back for a look, but too heart breaking right now.

    love nanny

    xx

  • it sickens me. eastleigh was great when it was scruffy. now they've tarted the place up somebody has to pay & it's dead. only a fool drives there nowadsy, fine if you want to endure endless laps of market st & southampton road to fins a space just so you can pop into the ONE post office left in the town. Bring back Jack Hobbs records, The Regal cinema & Torbocks.

  • I remember that place, Torbucks was a toystore as I remember, above what is now Iceland I think. Regal was just before my time. where was that record shop??? You got me curious.

  • I'll be back one day. Wow, I am still in shock at how many shops are empty, I've lived in Eastleigh 26 years and it's never been that bad. The swan centre has gone through tough times but not the town. Common sense must take affect, rates are so high it's not worth getting out of bed for those people. If you have a chance to stick to Wayne then get a jab in their from me. Take care Matty

  • We have just top 18 shops closed as of this Friday, and three of them are in the Swan Centre. Bloody Eastleigh Borough Council have decided the best way to tackle the problem is..?? To put up Parking Fee's by 20%..!! Madness. Mindless Madness..!!

  • Matt, I'm really shocked!!! Had no idea it was that bad, well done for trying to speak up. Not sure what can be done, but at least you raised the issue. Good man. Cancer research UK has been there as long as I can remember, 20+ years!!! Shocking.

  • Thank you so much for the comment, if we had more people like you in the town then Eastleigh would be a better place for it.

  • Matt, I just finished my 4th year of architecture, now I have time I'd like to contact the council about a few things, hehe. Who is the most appropriate person to speak to??? You should have photoshoped some tumble weeds into some of your pics, haha. I shouldn't laugh, it's a serious situation.

I went to some of the public meetings at the council for the leisure complex. They made no attempt to consider the urban ramifications. I saw this happening in Aug 2005!!! They have no training!!
