great version, but i don't think the studio version is as good as the stage version. i think a song like this is much better stripped down, with just his voice and some simple instruments, not with all the extra orchestration.

I actually like the AI one better. The slower pace is what made it original, and is what gave it so much power. This faster paced version just doesn't hold the same feeling.

I swear...he should be the goddamn legend of this era. He has such an angelic voice but at the same time can go all rock and rough. His contrast is amazing, how he can go from soft and low to sharp and high in an instant, managing to pull back down and yet still sound absolutely unbelievable. Let's not mention his grand charisma, his gift to gain eyes on him, ability to put on great shows on stage and the fact you can feel his own emotions when singing :) Adam is definitely an incredible ARTIST.

The first time I saw & heard Adam Lambert it was this performance... gorgeous & a beautiful singer. Then I saw how he looked before this makeover... makeup takes away from his looks. Big time. p.s. live version is better

I won't even Go thru the who's version is better stuff. The guy is talented. This is actually a Karaoke performance to the actual Smokey & the Miracles track. I don't mean "karoake" in the Simon Cowell meaning of the word, I mean it literally. The sad thing is that 50 times as many people have heard the cover and don't even know about the original.

@culwin The point is that all contestants on the show are required to interpret some classic songs. He did this one and some others. He sounds great on this one, less so on some of the others... a matter of taste I guess. The practice of remaking songs is common, and not a universally bad one.

I swear...he should be the goddamn legend of this era. He has such an angelic voice but at the same time can go all rock and rough. His contrast is amazing, how he can go from soft and low to sharp and high in an instant, managing to pull back down and yet still sound absolutely unbelievable. Let's not mention his grand charisma, his gift to gain eyes on him, ability to put on great shows on stage and the fact you can feel his own emotions when singing :) Adam is definitely an incredible ARTIST.
