I definitely agree that Jaco was one of the best bassists in the world, but I lost respect for him when I found out he said "...I am the greatest electric bass player in the world". Pure arrogance...
this was also at a time when nobody paid attention to the bass. Jaco's arrogance brought attention to his genius and he was also the first to recognize those players he was influenced by. jaco was a true originator.

Yeah-obviouvsly so!
But he changed from an anti-alcoholic-person to an alcohol / drug-addicted-person in a short period of time !
He was out of his his mind in his last years and had no proper medical/psychiatory advisory !!!
