  • Only a legend can cover a legend..and with no flaw i might add

  • i shot 9 people who disliked this song

  • @walter4092 I shot the disliker, but I swear it was completely deliberate!

  • hi baby ali

  • ha ha ha ha ha ha

  • did it as well

  • no disrespect to Bob Marley but this version is better

  • @Disturbed1821 I to like this version better because the vocals are better and so is the instruments. It just makes me tap my heel and gently rock my head back and forth better than Bob Marleys version.

  • Eric Clapton did for Reggae what Elvis did for Rock n Roll and what Eminem later did for rap music.

  • @ThePrinceDhani I hope you make a top comment because what you just said is fucking right!!!!

  • @ThePrinceDhani Eminem?

  • omg

  • Eric Clapton really put alot into his songs ....Something you don't see in todays music !

  • So did Marley or Clapton shoot the sheriff, cuz the other had to shot the deputy...

  • @13MILLER21 In the Live version of this song off of the Crossroads Box Set, Clapton said: "Bob Marley did it."

  • @UndertakerMickieFan that means that Clapton shot the Deputy!!!

  • 9 people are sheriffs :)

  • @DBSkylinersFan Nah...maybe they were the deputy.

  • marley and clapton doing the same song... yea.......... :)

  • 9 people missed

  • @Slushy687 hehe

  • great song !

  • I DID IT, I SHOT THE SHERIFF

  • the first time i heard this i was like WTF. the second time i heard this i was like XD. the third? well, its best to forget about that

  • R.I.P. the deputy

  • @otherranger he was just tryin to take care of a pothead

  • 9 People shot on the deputy.

  • 9 People shot on the deputy.

  • 0:08 - 0:10 don't act too bold because you might get shot...

  • 420

  • i disagree marley has soul but clapton has just as much and even more groove in this version listen to the breakdown just before the chorus one word somes up that Gold literally music to my ears no disrespect to marley its just like all along the watch tower bob dylan said it best that jimi hendrix did it better then himself but both version are good but it generally all comes down to one thing personal choice !!

  • @Cadderly1000 I like Clapton's version better too, but there is a good Bob live one. Great song so much groove!

  • @electric926 False, yes the version of Clapeton is so gooood, but Marley is the best !

  • yessssss squire..classic, i was just listening to EPMD strictly business, so i thought i would check out this and the bob marley version too!!!!

  • 1: Thank you marley for a great song

2: thank you clapton for making people aware of it thru an amazing cover & for your interpretation of the song

3: marley's version for those of you who are putting him down cant be that bad if one of music's greatest guitarists accepted the song and loved it enough to cover it

4: neither is better they are both diferent marley wrote the song and had the raw talent and voice to make this song HUGE Clapton's was better produced & marley's tells the story better

  • How sick would it be if Eric Clapton and Bob Marley featured on this song. Clapton does the chorus and bob song the verses

  • R.I.P. Dick Sims

  • I hate Eric Clapton as a person. But goddamn this is a good song.

  • .....I say...WHO GIVES A FUCK! They're both great

  • @ILoveVitas909 ... but Clapton IS better ;^}

  • Clapton really did this song justice. And it booted "You're Having My Baby" off the #1 spot on the US charts, which is all the more reason to like it.

  • How many different styles of music can u hear in this song? My band buddies and I sat around and counted about seventeen r so...

  • Sorry eric, but bob marley did it first and still better.

  • @loly1029384756 Trying to get a top rated comment. Failing. Clapton did this one better :P

  • @MartinCanMakeMovies no need for top comment to know that bob marley's version is better

  • The dislike button is the size of Justin Bieber's dick. Don't make it bigger.

  • Great Song!

  • a great cover of a great original

  • perfect GTA song.

  • i love bob marley and he is my favorite artist but his version is bad not because of him but because of the wailers. this version is very good. i also like eric clapton alot too.

  • @Microscopeification Took me a bit of a while to get used to the Wailers. It sounds like you're just not used to that style of singing yet. Besides, their vocals give the song a really stoney feeling. The original is amazing.

  • Bob wrote it so therefore you can't do it better than him

  • @ImClearlyCanadian GTFO RASTA WEARING WIGGER

  • @hankeybillfred It breaks my heart to see you tear up over my comment :(

  • @ImClearlyCanadian Not tearing up just fact.

  • @hankeybillfred first off I am not a rasta wearing wigger but I do like reggae and second I like classic rock and Eric Clapton so I have the right to listen to his songs on a public website and you have no right telling me to get out.

  • @ImClearlyCanadian No, your a canadian, you have no rights, GTFO.

  • @hankeybillfred how can somebody that comes from a country with free education be so stupid like yourself. American's are the most ignorant people in the world and know nothing about anything outside of the US and some don't even know anything about their own country.

  • @ImClearlyCanadian

How can someone that comes from a country with free health care be so retarded like yourself? Canadian's are the most self rightous people in the world and dont give a shit about the people down south. And dont Acknowledge their Conservative Prime Minister killing whatever rights they have.

    U MAD?!?!?

  • This version is better than Bob's studio version for sure, but Bob's live versions are outstanding. Wish they could have done a version together, now that would be perfect.

  • of course clapton couldve never done this song if marley hadnt wrote it...props to them both

  • Bob Marley was awesome, but Clapton did this song the best it can be done. R.I.P Bob Marley.

  • 7 people killed the deputy.

  • sweet song

  • Thanks for the studio version! This is so much better than people's cell phone recordings of the song from the concert.

  • Who cares about who's is better? Two great artists doing the same song.

  • @KashTheKwik

Full agreement. Both amazing artists, I love both versions. ^_^

  • @KashTheKwik Obviously a Marley fan this one. Myself I'm more of a Clapton guy.

  • Clapton's is 100% better !

    rip bob marley

  • Eric Clapton's was better.

  • NOOOO!

    Bob Marley is GOD!!!

  • Is it me or does Eric forgo

    t some of the lyrics ? :p

  • 6 people are dead sheriffs

  • way better than the bob marley cover

  • @seinfeldsandwhich You're adorable

  • @seinfeldsandwhich Bob Marley wrote it so his version was not a cover

  • @ImClearlyCanadian haha it's orginal version sorry but you are wrong

  • EPMD brought me here.

  • It's a terrible thing when people misunderstand exactly what you are guilty of.

  • thumbs up if bob marley brought you here

  • Sorry Marley, but Clapton did it better.

  • @electric926 no! Marley is GOD.

  • @KARLOSMTV1 I agree, but I still like Clapton's version better. Sorry to offend you. :)

  • @electric926 remember though, we wouldnt have this version if not for Bobby. I grew up on this version and didnt even know it was a remake.

  • @electric926 No.

  • @bronteelizabeth sure he did....marley sucks

  • @electric926 For sure...this is one of those times where the cover is better than the original ♥♥

  • @electric926 I'm listening both versions in parallel... it fits perfectly. must try. :D

  • @electric926 clapton would slap your stupid face for saying bullshit like that..

  • @posvibration21 well said!

  • @electric926 better tweaker? hahha!

  • @electric926 no sir

  • @electric926 No.

  • @electric926 marly did the main part better

    but clapton's chorus is orgasmic

  • @electric926 yeah its easy to do it better when you're aren't recording it with fucking jamacian ghetto tools that marley had. he fucking wrote that shit on napkins and had to live that life to write it and then clapton comes along and simply says, "i like it. ill do that song." you shouldnt be sorry, you should be fucking bitch slapped for not knowing what the fuck you are talking about little kid. Get the FUCK outta her with that bullshit

  • @electric926 Marley is the man, Clapton is awesome but the reggae is not only about the music, the feelings and culture that reflects are so meaningful and the original song tells the story from that point of view, so, sorry Clapton, but Marley had it in his veins

  • I really love this sooooooooooooooooooong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My cousin, my 2 uncles, my mother , all my family love Eric Clapton, hope go to his concert

  • I really love this sooooooooooooooooooong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My cousin, my 2 uncles, my mother , all my family love Eric CAlapton, hope go to his concert

  • R.I.P Bob Marley. Jah Rastafari. I also like this Eric Clapton cover of the song.

  • at last!! ive been looking for this version for ages but gave up!!

  • 6 dislikes..hope they are not sherrifs..

  • I Shot the DEPTUY!!!

  • @BladesPro

Just put on your cool face.

    Trololo

  • studio version is the greatest, thanks a bunch

  • Great Song!!!

  • It revived eric's career, it solidified bob marley's legacy! Im partial to Bob's original because you get the full meaning of 'being fed up wit the system' and the tables turning in the little mans favor. eric was just singing more of a literal version wit an actual sheriff coming after a smooth criminal.

  • Y U NO CROUD

  • i LOVE this song !!!

  • how come everbody has the concert videos of eric?

  • this song makes me want to do cocaine, and the cocaine song makes me wanna shoot cops

  • @GlobalLyricalIll

oooo, don't blame me, i only wanted to be funny! :D

  • listen to the 'i shot the sheriff' part when it sounds like girls are singing it.

now listen to ronette, chiffon and crystal singing 'suppertime' in little shop of horrors.

do you think you're thinking what i'm thinking?

  • i confess, it was me, i let the dogs out

  • Every time that I plant a seed

He said, kill it before it grows a plant of mary!!

  • Good job with the video and song, I'm sharing this version on my facebook.

  • i love this song its my favorite

  • Thanks for posting. I'm learning this for my band and needed all the versions to put my bass part together.

  • Absolute faggotry compared to the original song. I'm not sure whether or not to congratrulate Clapton for giving Bob more exposure though. Quite probably.

  • @k4yr4d I disagree. I prefer this version to the original but only because the original is ruined with the high pitched: "I shot the Sheriff".

  • so, who shot the deputy? sheriff?

  • marleys version >>>>>>>>>>>>> this

    a thousand times over.

  • @vex08 fuck you

  • @KaptainKwasnik you mad faggot?

  • @vex08 Clapton is FAR superior to Marley in terms of guitar.

  • @KaptainKwasnik bobby was more into his lyrics and words and eric is more into speaking with his guitar i think both are amazing since bob marely wrote the song and eric made it sounds good with an ax

  • @KaptainKwasnik I wasn't talking about guitar, but ok.

  • @vex08 Well that's like, you're opinion bro. If you don't like this version then why pollute it with comments like "HURR TIS SUKS!" while raising the view count?

  • @larewwedxhhh19 didn't say this one sucked or that i didn't like it.

  • @vex08 So why did you come to this if you didnt like it? OH YOU BE A TRAITOR TO YOU OWN KIND you bastard.

  • @FuzzyLittleBastard didn't say i didn't like it, you mad brah?

  • @vex08 Wasnt having a good day. I am sorry.

  • @FuzzyLittleBastard You're forgiven, God bless.

  • I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot the deputy(Bob Marley did it)

  • i prefer bob marley's version but this ones good to

  • this is good, good indeed! but the crossroads 2010 live performance caught me and never let me go hahaa

  • i shot my jizz at the sheriff when i heard this song

  • 2 people were tracked down.

  • Thknks for the studio version of this song. i think studio version is better than live because with live you hear the damn audience and it just doesn't sound as good as the studio version.

  • sorry i bumped the ke yboard

  • bgnm,.,mnbgvhjkl;

  • 2 people didnt shoot the sheriff but they did they did the deputy

  • @garron68 jajajajajaj I think like you

  • Thats what's awesome about Eric Clapton. He took an already amazing song and brought it to a much bigger audience. Its because of him white people in America started listening to Reggae. He's also done this with many old old blues songs as well, just a dude with a real love for music. I saw him live for the first time w/ my dad last year. It was remarkable, if you havent seen him live. YOU MUST!!!

  • 1 person didn't shoot the sheriff, but did shoot the deputy.

  • TY! for uploading. Takes me back to my youth. I have said a many of times, Bob Marley wrote but Eric made it famous!

  • i agree, few live versions hit the mark for me.

  • Love this song!

  • i like this song :)

  • RESPECT! Thank you for this..........peace and one love.

  • THANK YOU! I can't stand live versions.

  • YES! No crowd in the background! Studio versions always seem to be better. Thank you!

  • lol i finally found the non crowd one

  • This is what I was looking for. Thanks for posting the real deal.

  • THANK YOU , I like the studio version , all i could find was the live and i just want to hear the song not the cheering of the crowd

  • @ChickengoesBOK It's that American Idol Mentality.

  • @ChickengoesBOK

I almost always dislike the live recordings. So distracting from the music.

  • @ChickengoesBOK welcome... suggest more of songs that you want to hear the studio version

  • @MisterTigerwolf1 hank williams jr.-all of my friends are coming over tonight

  • @MisterTigerwolf1 Behind The Mask? Can only find live versions of that on here as well.

  • @MisterTigerwolf1 how about you do sultans of swing? Thats a really good song by the Dire Straits.

  • @ChickengoesBOK Well, really chicken, not like the crowd!?

  • @ChickengoesBOK Yeah I agree I somtimes like live versions but I prefer this one for sure

  • first time I heard this was on a K-Tel record when I was 7......been searching for THIS version

  • I'm glad Eric Clapton chose to cover this song. Love both versions, but Eric did a fantastic job.
