I have 7 different VHS packages for "The Wizard of Oz!" I'm a collector so the more the better! I also have 5 or 6 different laserdiscs and almost every DVD release, includng Blu-ray. I recently bought an Epson HD projector and the Blu-ray looks phenomenal when I show "Oz" 7 or 8 feet wide!
This tape has a fucking Downey commercial at the beginning (and it's Macrovision-encoded, to try and keep you from even copying that commercial!) Otherwise it's a pretty nice package though. I bought that for my mom which she still has, and I have the CED videodisc with a hilariously primitive transfer and about 4 different laserdisc editions. Haven't bought they Blu-Ray because I heard they did too much digital clean-up on it!
I had this VHS... but it's been destroyed, unfortunately... but the whole "will be no more" is just nonsense. We had too many VHS releases, 3 DVD releases (MGM made the first DVD before Turner transferred the pre-1986 films to Warner. SMART MOVE!) and 3 packages of Blu-ray. It's not like Disney where whey just release 1 version of the film every 6-8 years! (jerks!)
@FilmFTW1 I agree with you. I have the original WB DVD release (in that useless cardboard case) and the next release they did (yellow brick road cover with the remastered picture), but the other releases they did were overkill. Stick to the anniversary releases, please! :)
@FilmFTW1 I actually own the original MGM DVD and that's good enough for me. Sure it lacks many bonus features but ehh this is the type of film where that does not bother me that much. Maybe later in the future I'll get one of the more recent DVD releases. I refuse to switch to Blu-Ray. I even still have my VHS copy from 1996 which features the same cover as the MGM DVD.

Even though we have Blu-ray and this new HD Shit, I still love the classic grainy VHS style movies. I need to get a copy of the VHS for my VCR.

@APRIL62318 Thanks for the offer, I now have it on Blu-ray, though. It'll be the only Blu-ray that I'll be getting for this film.
