@wonderfultiger Dear friend, I am not American and I do not practice Physiotherapy (not Physical Therapy) under any regulatons by American CCE or American Goverment. Once again I am not a Chiropractor. Despite the fact that I have studied Physiotherapy for more that 5 years, I am not try to be or claim to be called a Chiropractor simply because I do not do what Chiropractors do. I admire Chiropractors for their skills and I find it very sad you assume that I hate Chiropractors.
@wonderfultiger Ha . . . Your wording it accurate "worse". What makes America hate Chiropractors is the fact that they call themselves "Doctors". I work for a federal agency and a friend of mine who is a chiropractor did not qualify for an entry level position because he did not have enough science. (All that is required is 22 semester hours!). If Chiropractors would just be honest and take out the "doctor" I think they would receive a better reception.
Chiropractic doctors "Adjust" vertebrae into proper juxta-position. Some osteopaths (majority do not manipulate but rather play MD) "manipulate" broad regions of tissue. For the sake of accuracy and validitiy the doctor in this vid needs to change the title to "Cervical Spine Adjustment".
I do not know what Chiropractors or Osteopaths do because I am a Physiotherapist, trained in Manipulative Physiotherapy. In Physiotherapy, "Spinal Manipulation" is simply manipulation of synovial joints in the vertebral column (facet joints in this case).
The proposed necessary features of joint manipulation are:
1. The applied force creates motion at a joint
2. This joint motion includes articular surface separation
@nimitris I am a chiropractor and our modern philosophical purpose of manipulation is to stimulate large diamater (1a) mechanoreptors and bombard the dorsal horn with somatosensory information. This has a few responses.
1 integration of information within the spinal cord to change sensitivity to ventral horn cells to future inputs
2 stimulate interneuron in tract of leusure to inhibit slower C fibre and thus spinothelamic tracts
@adswild 3 stimulate 2nd and 3rd order neurons in cuneate and gracilis fasciculus and areas of somatosensory cortex
4 stimulation of spinocerebellar tracts and homunculus in cerebellum
5 release of growth factors to decrease synaptic cleft space within the neuronal pools mentioned above and thus create neuro plastic changes
6 engage the autonomic nervous system to increase blood floow to the above mentioned tracts to increase metabolic fittness to sustain neuro plastic changes
I am not assuming that my patient is completely relaxed.
At a end-range position is not easy for the muscles to be relaxed (especially in the neck) and they are under tension (stretch). This will make the patient more nervous.
In this technique the neck is placed in a position close to the neutral. As you can see the neck is not placed in a excessive side flexion or rotation.
@nimitris I have been treated both ways as a patient...I preferred the quick clunk because it felt so much better afterwards. I dont care to spend 15 minutes discussing movies and politics with my chiro if their adjustments are crap
@lake122 If quick clunk made you feel better that's absolutely fine to me. Crap adjustment is the adjustment that FAILS to cavitate the painful or hypomobile facet joint. With the technique I have used, you can treat the excact facet joint that you previously have found -from the physical examination- that is impaired.
@nimitris Fair enought, my reponse my merely to indiate that they best chiro I have ever been to, that provided the most relief, was pretty fast in and out. The bottom line is the quality of the adjustment, as you indicated.
Is that it?

@zsmores244 you don't have to! i advise you not to watch these videos cause it looks ''tougher'' than it really is.
This video of mine it is quite ''soft'' though! I am waiting for your impressions of this first visit to chiro!

If you think what you think is RIGHT, then you have to deal with CCE and Gorvernment.
Chiropractors are called doctors of chiropractics by regulation of Government.
in the past, chiropractors did practice medicine without a lincense and some of them went to jail for that.
Right now story has changed. chiropractors are called doctor because they study over 4200 hours during 3-4 years.
I bet you are phyisical therapist or MD who hate chiropractors treating patient to get better.

i advise you to take this video out from youtube.
this is not well done adjustment and posting something like this by STUDENTS
will make DC profession look worse.

@adswild thank you. That's a very nice explanation of how joint manipulation works!
nimitris 1 month ago
you will need more impulse when doing that but u should share more vids
CAteen69 2 years ago
that's the point of this technique..
it's a mid-range manipulation and you don't need more impulse to achieve cavitation of the facet joints..
it is safer and the patient is more relaxed..
nimitris 2 years ago
@nimitris How do you know what relaxes each individual patient?
