@PlanTonto If there's a such thing as a "definitive" cover of a song, I'd say Johnette Napolitano's version is it, which is on YouTube...look it up...if there was a ever a subsequent rendition of a song that added enough depth to make it as significant as the original, in this case Patti Smith's beautifully haunting song that Todd Rundgren's bass playing also enhanced immeasurably, Johnette's has succeeded in reaching such a status.

What a Siren. Twenty plus years ago and waiting all night at Campus/ManRay in Cambridge, MA so that the DJ would play this song. The entire dancefloor would fill up and overflow at the edges and everyone would just lose themselves in this song.
