LOL! Man, I can kick from 40 meters...But when I started using these tips.....Well, I gained a good 2 meters Thank you! And the U15's squad say thanks as well :D
Is this how you guys do it rugby? jw because if its american football it would get blocked for sure. a t kicking camp they told us that you have 1.5 seconds from the time the ball is in the air to the time that your foot hits it or else it gets blocked
There is no way you can perfect the rugby goal kick. the only way you will perfect it is when you get it from every spot on the field and nail it on the dot. and people have different stepping tactics for their distance from the ball.
American football is way harder and the hits are harder to...europeans suck at everything...on sportscience they even said american football has harder hits, so suck it
Yeah they might hit a little bit harder but if you watched the rest they went on to say that football players only get an average of 1 hit per game and because of the pads it absorbs the hit so its not as bad. As for rugby they average 9 hits a game and they dont have pads so the force of the impact is not spread out. So go fuck yourself pussy footballer
sure they do. if you lived over here you would know. we have rugby clubs and professional soccer teams too. we learn cricket in schools. the only difference is that we have baseball and football in addition to mainly european sports.
yeah but the rugby player makes more tackles than a football player in a game. they tackle at least 10 times a minute. in football its 1 for 3 minutes
@jamesypie69 having played both I feel like football would be high school to pro level football would be illegal without pads. in rugby you have to pick them up and then slam them down in football you can SPRINT through the tackle which makes for a much harder hit
Hahaha stop lying to yourself. We'll have a football exchange aye. I'll go over there and play american football and you come over to NZ playing rugby union or to Australia and play Rugby league. I bet you havn't ever needed ice baths with all that padding on. At least safety belts won't be needed on the drive home after the game considering you cant even die in a car crash with all that on
@Scottyhutch1 Haha Im not lying to myself watch any hit video football hits are way harder. a good tackle is made with the pads in the person's gut where there is no padding. And me? I'm nowhere near good enought play at the collegiate at either sport. And by the way, in our HIGH SCHOOL weight room we have a built in ice bath which is frequented by players. Plus Football's atheletes are way better
We had many school exchange students from the states stating they were someone special in there high school sides and all that large mouthed talking all went out the window during warm up for the game. wasnt bad on the wing I must say, but when he was tackled and in ruck ball you could hear him pretty much call for god to save him. Anyone across the park could make a big hit in nfl but the thing is WILL it hurt with all the armour on?? I don't think so mate
This will be my last post, on this subject, since there would be no real way to settle it without having a game. Rugby is an extremely tough sport, So is football, I love rugby I simply think the Athletes are stronger, and faster in football. And anyone across the park (whatever the hell thats supposed to mean) could try to make a big hit in a High Shool game and would probably get run over. So just give football some respect, there is a Reason only a select few can play in the NFL.
I agree i played both sports and like rugby much more. But unfortunately the helmet allows for much more bell ringers. You havent had a hard hit until its you VS. the ball carrier head up smacking the crown of your helmet into his facemask, for a split second you become unconcious.
You are totally wrong dude, i played 5 years of football have 1 more to go in high school ive played 1 and ahalf years of rugby. I have received a knee injury in football but way more in rugby including another knee injury, a fractured nose, and a seperated shoulder. You can def. run through tackles in rugby dude dont make conclusions until youve played both
haha, American football is for pussies my ass. and yea, you take a hit from a middle linebacker, and then try saying that shit again, you prolly dont even play sports, u just sit on the couch eating your fuckign popcorn.
wtf you joke. rugby players are way fitter that any football player. and locks could fuck any player, flyhalfs have way more passing skills aswell, so you shut up and stop trying to play sports, because you fail at life, why dopnt you start sitting on the couch and eat popcorn, because youre going nowhere
Dude - do you really feel that Terrel Owens , or LT, or Adrian Peterson would not rule at this sport? They just grew up playing a different game. Why the hatred? I have played both - hits in American football are more vicious. Have two dudes who are 6+ feet tall, around 200-235 lbs, able to run a 40yds at around 4.2-4.5 secs, then line them up from 20yds out and t-bone each other at full speed with no pads they will both be either badly hurt or wishing they were dead.
there is no way american football players are bigger than rugby... Simon Shaw was 7 foot tall when he first played for England. A young number 5 debuted for England on Saturday and he is 6'9 and 22 stone. Of course American football players would be good at rugby but they will never play it and therefore we will never know...
I doubt american footballers woudl be good at football because the only thing the same with the two sports is that they have the same rufly shaped ball... the whole concept is different, and they wont be used to the batter and bruises.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
this dude sucks. im a freshman kicker on varsity. i kick a lot better than him. haha btw, shayne graham, cincinatti bengals kicker, went to my school :)
league players (like myself) tilt the ball forward so i can get the pointy end and for me it adds direction.. the way union platers do it i can barely get it from 35m out
thats different with me though, i play both codes during the summer, but only union during the winter. i tilt the ball nearly upright and off to the right, the ball seems to just roll off my foot and my record is about 40 yards on the sideline
yeah its just like a golf shot. Try not to boot the cover off the ball. I was taught to lean over it when kicking about 5 weeks ago and my kicking has improved drastically. I cna now sink 40metre place kicks and I've been doing them for 3 weeks.
thru my pre kick routine I just think head over the ball stright back follow through. As long as you dont try to kick the ball 2 hard and believe it will go over most of the time it will (wind and range pending)
biggest problme new kickers get is that they lean back after the kick wich=bad. a kick is all in the follow through, with keeping the leg straight and leaing into the ball. i saw a kid in a rugby camp who added 21 meters to his kick by simply doin this.
your dam rite their, making sure you kick through the ball is so important, when my kciking starts go a bit wrong in games i usually adress it by thinking just strike through the ball. i usually try to take a few steps past the tee after kicking.
I play outside half, check out my videos more will be coming soon and the debate about walking and running. Reccomened, which most proffesionals do is walk, with 1 step before the end quick acceleration ( this only should be used if you have no problem with ditance) if you are going for a longer kick, then change it to running, this decreased accuracy but will increase length. Thanks :)
the whole point the cupped hands are to get in a"state" of relaxation. but then u need to use that that to gain momentum, watching wilkinson or carter. the "bounce back" step Lol
no one does it Lol its to ensure a regular groved routine. Pete. stanners our england under 16 coach trains with dave alred, and says every kicker now in england squad does it lol
good job, but your feet must cary the ball higher, when the ball leaves it, it's to close from the ground, you have to get it high enough, but you got the way guys, just keep training and you'll be rewarded!
It doesnt matter ,if u run or walk up..I use a similiar kicking style to montgomery, and it works..Notice he walks thenn theres a quick step and then kick.
you do need to jump to kick mate. try jumping in tot he kick, and dont stand still at the back of your run up, momentum is the key. advise if you want it.
it looks far but only 10 metres jeez i should rethink being a goalkick next year

why do rugby players tilt the ball forwards on the tee? i try it on mine and it either doesnt hold or the ball just tumbles off. can someone help me?
murphdawg40 3 years ago
They tilt it on the tee so they can expose the sweet spot.
If you wanna kick like that, your gunna have to get a rugby league tee which supports the ball forward. Either that, or use sand.
Calcifer112 3 years ago
They do that so that ball will get forward spin, in football it gets backwards spin, which slows it down, which gets less yards.
