  • And for those of you who say god said he will not flood the Earth again, don't understand that god isn't warming this planet, WE ARE! God does not mess with free will, By our free will we pump massive amounts of fossil fuels into our atmosphere. Consequently warming the planet.

  • As in residing on a land mass therefore not affecting the water level. What will be the number of gallons of water affecting the sea levels if it all melted? Lets see, 521,600,000,000,000,000,000. That won't cause a huge impact on the Eco systems around the world affected by the new extra 200 feet of sea level? Wow. With that being said. Most parts of Antarctica remain at a negative thirty seven degrees year round. But we've raise a half degree c in the last decade. We're getting warmer.

  • Ok now. You kids with the Experiment thing, Try one that will be more accurate, Get a glass of water filled to the rim, Suspend a funnel above to glass and put enough ice in the funnel to equal 1.6 percent of the water. Let it melt. Do you really propose the content of the glass will not change? Although mass has been added to the glass? There are an estimated 326,000,000,000,000,000,000 gallons of water on earth. One and six tenths of which are frozen on polar ice caps.

  • Ok peoples, Antarctica has a gigantic land mass underneath all that ice, So no the ice is not displacing the current sea levels at its current state. The land mass is. One ice shelf, the Wordie Ice Shelf along the western coast of the Antarctic Peninsula, has completely disappeared. Another, the Larsen Ice Shelf extending along the east coast of the Antarctic Peninsula, has lost a chunk three times the size of Rhode Island. Meaning what? It getting warm enough for ice to melt.

  • so, just build houses on elevated slabs or stilts, right ? more ocean, more fish, more beach. sounds good to me.

  • Theres not enough land ice...like in greenland,To cause concern either. If all the water under the land masses and all the water in the atmosphere were to fill the surface of the earth ...then we have a problem. But:God said HE would not destroy the earth again in that manner. He put His bow in the sky as a sign of His promise to us.The way in which the earth will be destroyed will be by fire and wind.

  • okay, the oceans are not rising! the ice melting doent make it rise, plus the ice caps have been shrinking and expanding naturally ever since the dawn of earth! also, if they are really melting THAT much, try this experiment: put three or four ice cubes in a glass of water filled pretty much to the top. next, let them melt, does the water overflow the glass? NO! plus, the ice is displacing the ocean water, if it would for some reason all m melt, nothing would happen!

  • one (actually two) word(s)... surface tension...

  • Too bad ice on land isn't displacing ocean water. Ever heard of Greenland?

  • why dont we just pump alot of the water into a big container like a ship or something and fly it into space?

  • ...wut.

  • so why are the oceans not rising at all like promised? Dammit I want beach front property. I mean really, only rich people will lose homes. This would do wonders for my property value. Hey housing market crisis solved. Then I can sell my shack in the woods to some Kennedy as having a wonderful ocean view.

  • Only ice in water melts! The edges of glaciers melting into rivers and streams is the CGI creation of an Al Gore-headed conspiracy.I've read books by scientists that say the opposite, that the oceans aren't rising faster than ever. I think the most interesting topic is the one on CO2 levels, as that one has more evidence to it.

he ice that melts tedns to be in the balmy

  • @striped321, Saying that Co2 levels rising has many more points of proof, while refuting the fact that ice is melting, contributed by the rising temperature due to rising levels of Co2 in the atmosphere is a little redundant don't you think? What does more Green house gases in our atmosphere mean? more heat. What heat mean? Higher temperatures, What does a change in climate in places that are used to it's niche for the past several thousand years mean? Things will change... Youtube scientists

  • non stupenda..

  • One way to stop ocean levels from rising

    watch?v=iHEXkkSPVmI

  • im not real smart when it comes to this stuff so i could be wrong.I was taught that during the past millions of years all the land on earth was shifting around. What if somthing under the ocean floor is pushing up,therefor rising water.like i said ,i dont really know what im talking about just throwing out ideas. The icebergs are not the cuase of rising.drop a good size chunk of ice in a bucket of water.where the water stops at after you drop it is where it will be at when it melts.

  • That could be a good idea. The thing is, ocean levels are different from animal fossils, so it must be harder to actually know what the ocean levels were like before, and so it must be hard to actual say that the ocean levels are rising faster than ever with evidence.

I've read books by scientists that say the opposite, that the oceans aren't rising faster than ever. I think the most interesting topic is the one on CO2 levels, as that one has more evidence to it.

  • As teh ice in the sea melts, sea levels will fall, as ice contracts as it forms liquid water. O level physics guys!

  • If it is floating freely unlike the situation in the real world.

  • Yes, only the ice in the water melts, so sea levels do not shift!

  • Only ice in water melts! The edges of glaciers melting into rivers and streams is the CGI creation of an Al Gore-headed conspiracy.

Climatologists and geologists that say seas would rise 65 meters were it all to melt must have not taken elementary physics. Proof that sea-levels were actually 130 meters lower during the last Ice Age is all planted by the liberal media.

Scientists at the U.S. Geological Survey: 0

YouTube expert JonThm: 1 You win!

    Now go disprove evolution...

  • The ice that melts tedns to be in the balmy sea water at 3 C! Of teh 8 major world glaziers, 7 are advancing, one retreating. It is the way it works! THere si no evidence that wordl temperatures are rising by 0.0001 C! Glob al WArmnig is a nuclear invention, you are giving backing to!

  • By the way, water expands as it freezes, so it con tracts as it melts! So if the ice caps melt seas will fall. In the late JUrassic no South Pole, and sea levles were 65 meters lower.

  • Floating ice displaces the same amount of water as if it were melted, thats why you can see part of the ice on top of the water. The main fear is of melting ice that sits on land, such as greenland and antarctica.

  • Water expands as it freezes! The ice whic hwill melt first is in the sea! At 3 C. Not in the air! So ses levels wil lfall if the ice melts! THe ice on the land will nto melt! God, don't you know any physics?

  • Ice on land and ice that reaches the sea floor is impervious to heat. O level physics guys!

  • Only the ice in the water melts - the ice in the air is in the cold. So sea levels would fall! QED

  • I'm not sure you understand what "QED" means.

  • It is Latin Quo erat demuctrandum I think - 'THat whic hwas to be shown'. Meltnig ice makes sea levels go down, anfd the land around rise with a 200 year lag. Luckily the sea falls first, so there si no way sea levels will rise!

  • I mean stating an absurdity "Only the ice in the water melts" then rewriting what you were trying to prove is an abuse of the term...

Not only do you ignore the science showing that during the most recent ice age (at its maximum about 20,000 years ago) the world's sea level was about 130 m lower than today

but also you dispute even the observable current trend of melting ice and rising sea levels?

You are the definition of that expression "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing"

  • Es una lástima que el efecto buscado solo se pueda apreciar cuando lo ves a camara rápida... te lo pierdes si contemplas la valla en directo... por lo demas solo puedo decir que es absolutamente impresionante. Enhorabuena al creativo.

  • Of course rising sea levels would actually be beneficial to many forms of life, as it would increase the estuary and shallow ocean areas used by waterfowl, fish, amphibians, turtles and some mammals (like capybaras). Simply put; more liquid water, more life. Of course L.A. would be lost...so Im not really seeing the down side.

  • LMAO! Amen. NY, LA, and Florida..... what a shame. /sarcasm

  • this just proves everyones bored as hell, this video is like a trip to the box factory

  • Cool

  • F it. Lets just drink

  • thats very cool!

  • Very cool! Thanks for explaining that. Excellent stuff.

  • I don't think this is real, is it? A rough computer simulation, maybe? The shadow wouldn't "rise throughout the day": it would lower until noon, and then rise. Also, unless the sign were located on - and perpendicular to - the equator, the shadow would travel across the billboard (matching the changing azimuth of the sun), not straight up.

  • The board respects celestial mechanics (Kepler Rocks!). It's perpendicular to the equator, with an unobstructed exposure to the west. The "waves" start at about 12:00 when the sun crosses the threshold above the board. The challenge was not the sun's azimuth, but altitude, which due to the Earth's tilt requires the scalloped awning's shape to be distorted so the shadow appears correct.
