  • I believe I have the exact same problem based on this video. Could anyone PLEASE offer some helpful advice to solve this issue? I have Logic Pro loaded and REALLY want to keep it that way if possible. For what it's worth, this just began out of nowhere after roughly 1 year of ownership, average to low CPU use and only used 50-100 times. ...I'm technologically retarded! PLEASE HELP!

  • Cool, now Windows users won't have trouble getting used to Macs.

  • dude it's supposed to do that...but it needs supposed to load faster.........what processor do you have

  • LOL what a speed :P

  • happens to me too

  • have you ever seen a bluesreen of death? i doesn't think! Install windows wait 1 day and than you must have over thousend bluescreens!

  • when you trun your laptop on,

at the screen with apple logo press,

    command+optain(alt)+ P+R

it reset the your ram and makes your strat up faster

  • omg your computer just needs more ram frig my compuer gets the blue scemreen of death on startup so I wouldn't complain

  • its something normal

  • wow macs are so SLOW

  • i bet you a mac can beat a pc to the (my computer, finder menu) by a mile.

  • i get that blue screen every time so don't be worried your computer is just loading

  • this happened to me one time I fixed it by reseting the ram

  • Interesting, what the the specs?

To be honest, that looks normal, if not *slightly* slow. Someone suggested clearing the boot cache, that'll only take one or possibly two seconds off though (in fact it'll add through the first few boots).

  • the blue screen is where the computer loads all hardware drivers. this process can become lengthy as you install more apps. you need to clear the boot cache and reboot the machine a couple of times. search for an app called "Yasu" in google its free. Its a mac system cleanup tool, takes care of permissions, temp files, and runs many maintenance scripts. Try that, Im pretty sure that should get your mac working fast.

  • Seems fine to me.

  • no its slow.

  • Well, my macbook hangs there forever, it hasn't loaded once in 3 months.

Can't take it back, havn't got the CD.

  • try reseting the ram!

  • A little weird, but doesn't seem THAT abnormal to me, If it's REALLY slow or you have a problem with it, Bring it to an Apple store and complain, it's THAT simple..

  • thats completely normal my macbook 13.3 in. does that too i think its the UNIX code or something only mine does three tones but its normal :D (and i do have the most recent update of leopard

  • It's only a blue screen - NOT the blue screen of death at almost ALL Windows PC users are familiar with.

  • tell me what happens to ur pc when you open up firefox itunes email and a game and application ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the pc basically shuts down what happens when a mac has to do those requests?,,,,,,,,,,,,,it does it with no problems so shove it up ur crappy pc

  • uhhh... not really. i usually have about 10 apps open in win xp at once and only have to reboot about once every 2 weeks.

  • @cjdanilecki my pc can handle all those no problem...

  • I just installed Leopard on my macbook a week ago.. the exact same thing is happening. in my case it hangs for 20-25 seconds...I checked on my buddy's macbook who has tiger and exact same configuration..it boots in no time. the startup progress bar comes only for 5-7 seconds after the dark grey apple..overall boot time is double compared to tiger.. my config macbook 2ghz core 2 duo, 2 gb ram and 120gb hdd

  • I get one that lasts maybe 30 seconds on my Macbook

  • nice. Keyboard is lit up too. VERY NICE!!!! wish my iBook did that

  • wow, i think your pc is kinda slow. mine just flies right by the boot screen. true on the comment its way faster than vista. more than 40 secs for sure, pray for no blue screen of death....

  • yer i get it with my imac its just loading up

  • Leopard isn't as optimized as Tiger was. I have the noticeably longer boot as well.

  • is your l key broken??

  • that happens with my macbook pro 15 in except my blue screen lasts between 8 and 16 minutes, i am going to take it in for service if i can not find a fix

    any luck with yours?

  • Getting a brand new macbook with it today...will report back to see what I have with it k!

  • at 00:30

  • That is not slow! Compare it to Vista!

  • @bwillwall god you are right my computer takes 5 minutes to start, GET A MAC! (i want to but i cant :-(

  • you just have to wait awhile it happened to my mac too.

    Just wait.

  • damn logiteck drivers not working wit leopard.

  • damn! it takes forever!

  • its just loading... shouldnt be a problem

  • oops!! wrong person! i meant roketjack

  • this happens to mine...must be a hardware problem in all macs., oh yea, responding to hottopic, apple does not suck, . without them, we wouldnt have movies like today...

  • by the way hottopic007 was defending apple!!!

  • yep. exactly the same as mine.. When you shut it down too.. on tiger it used to go to blue screen with the little spinning thingy before it shut down, but with leopard the desktop background jus stays til it turns off.. guess its the way it is..

  • you suck , thats the problem

  • Apple does suck though.

  • Wake up people! This is normal! The speed deppends on ram and how much is the hard disk full! search for "Mac Pro Startup time" and you'il see a Mac Pro, botting leopard in 15 Seconds!

  • that is flaw by leopard. It should take more than Tiger, it supposed to be an upgrade not downgrade. This SUCKS

  • And apple fan boys gave vista a bad time..

  • i have the same problem. have you figured it out?

  • I don't understand, is that not normal?

That's what my MacBook does when it starts up - I thought that was just Leopard?

  • come on people. it still started up my goodness.

  • I had this too ... seemend to have something to do with an old install of Application Enhancer. You should remove all APE frameworks etc. and reboot (do this using another mac and start this mac in target disk mode).

find more info on apple discussion forums!

  • That's normal If you notice with Leopard there is no loading screen like there was with Tiger. If you're concerned with the speed, the first thing I would do would be to run Disk Utility and repair permissions and check your disk health. Then try flushing your caches...

  • normal

  • where is the blue screen of death? Maybe your harddisk is full! be carefull!

  • I have the same problem and its not normal. Was working great until i had to knock off computer by the mains and then this happened. takes like 5-4 mins to load up, anyone have any info please can you let us know?

  • mine takes that long too. there must be something wrong. Tiger NEVER took that long to boot and there were no "blue screens of death" either.

  • I have a simular problem. However it stays at the start up with out opening my programs. I dont know what to press to see full screen alowing me to access any program or all. Can someone plz help>??

  • i heard somewhere that you have to do a archeve install to fix it

  • i heard somewhere that you have to do a archeve install to fix it

  • thats normal, no problems here.

  • thats normal

  • it sucks then. Cause it takes like 20 to 25 secs. more than Tiger

  • Isn't that screen normal? I get it for a split second even in Tiger.

  • yeah..for a split second. not 5 minutes(lol-exaggerating) but still. it takes way to long. and there was also a loading bar in the Tiger one. in this one its just a blank blue screen.

  • is it still there? or has it gone away?

  • I have the same situation with both an iMac Core2Duo and a MacBook Pro Core Duo 17"... both computers had leopard installed from scratch... With tiger this was not shown... Now ... why in the brand new ones with leopard... this blue screen is not there????

    HELP!!!

  • Figured it out, kind of. My Macbook did that in the beginning but as leopard is used more it shortens, now the blue screen lasts around a second.

  • not for me. and that doesnt make any sense. Leopard isnt alive. its a computer it does the same thing over and over unless you change it. maybe you changed something. but my boot screen has been like that since i bought it. and i dont see it "wearing off" anytime soon.

  • That's the boot screen, nothing wrong with it

  • Is this right you installed it. It does that right after an installation.

  • It does this every time I startup. From what I've heard on the apple forums it's perfectly normal.

  • almost normal mine lasts all of 3 secs. and i have a slower mac than you.

But that replaces the "Starting Mac OS X" screen

  • its normal my ibook g4 does it these no problem there just booting up

  • @hairypsalm It IS normal.
