Literally, the only interesting part of the ENTIRE movie, is when the killing starts, you know...the ONLY ACTION that appears? (besides them kissing in the shower) I loathe how Gus Van Sant always makes his movies awkward and they're always so fricking boring because he always makes his actors talk for a long ass time before the action starts. I went into this movie with great expectations but it was horribly disappointing. Half of it is just a camera following people walking down the hallway. All this suspense is built up to a very boring ending. The movie itself is just soooo slow and boring. The acting is ridiculously bad and I know that they were trying to make it seem like they were just high school students, but that's not how high school students talk to each other. Don't waste your time on this at all.

It just could have been so much better if it had built the suspense up way more, Actually had an ending that was significant, and wasn't so repetitive. I admire the concept of telling it from different angles, but Citizen Kane did it way better. I just wish it had more of a purpose, more connection to the characters. When people were killed I didn't find it sad, because I didn't know them, they were just strangers.

@bounty93 Before you slam the acting in this movie, you should realize that none of the students in this movie were actors and all of the dialogue was improvised.. Furthermore, the purpose of this movie isn't to understand motives or to answer questions as to why they did what they did, but to have us experience this event. It doesn't win the Palme d'Or for being a bad movie. The concept is just going over your head. Once you're out of high school this movie will mean a lot more to you.

This was one of the most offensive piles of dog shit I've ever seen. It's obviously inspired by Columbine, yet he called it a piece of fiction as to avoid dealing with anything meaningful. This film is so cliche-ridden, I'm surprised there wasn't a scene of the two young killers listening to Marilyn Manson. There is no insight to be gained by watching this film.

I've red that the title refers to an old legend from India, which says about a couple of old, blind men and an animal...They were all touching the elephant but each of them could "see" something different: a tree (elephant's leg), a snake (his loooong nose), etc...

If your one of the guys that thought it was boring, wel the whole point of the first half was to get you to know the school and to get to know some of the kids at the school so that once the shooting comes, you actually feel something because you've connected with the students. And also, thrughout the whole film, you know what's gonna happen, so like the other commenter said, you get more and more uncomfortable as the film gets closer to the rampage scene. So Scary
