Flag running is much faster and more efficient than just holding the damn flag stupidly and crawling your way across the map. So what if u let the enemy know where you are? The point is to move the flag fast enough so that even though they know where you are, they cant do shit about it. And doing so annoys and pressures the opposite team with the "Flag taken, Flag dropped". So this is a highly effective way of capping flags. =)

Actually, there's quite a bit of strategy that goes into flag-running in MLG games. For one, you usually need at least two opponents dead, and at least two of your teammates alive. Then, you need to have a side of the map locked down to control the opposing spawn. After this, you need to be able to move the flag quickly away from the spawning opponents while your teammates provide cover fire. Rarely does carrying help-- only if you're trying to sneak away. Tell me there's more strategy in that.
