  • I destroyed a 997 only last weekend from the lights on my 600 ninja lol all this video proved is you need to be a touring car champion to beat a biker round a track lol

  • I'ts a fact - cars are faster on narrow tracks.

  • LOL

  • i murder porsche's every week on my 600 lol

  • Are you serious? Who cares when the vid was uploaded, at the time it was made he was a professional superbike racer with more ambition, talent and ability than you could dream of. Why is it so hard for you to accept the result? The fastest bike in the world got beaten by an average porsche. Truth is, if it wasn't from a standing start the porsche would have won by several seconds.

  • lol to this video. never seen him put his knee down and he was braking like this was a practice run around the track for the first time. never got his rpms up into the high pulling side of his powerband either

  • Fucking Clarkson is such a biased cunt. Top Gear always rig it so the car wins.

  • biggest crock of bullshit this video

  • I think that jeremy has never driven a bike...otherwise he would understand that the bike is faster, in this case it lost because the circuit was chosen to make the car win.

Put them into monza and you'll see.

I have a cbr600 rr and I never lost racing with sport cars into road

  • @bestpilot90 Exactly what i was thinking!

  • lol Thats funny. This video is for car fans, of course the Porsche won.

    I had a 900RR, and I could beat my boss`s BMW M5 easily(507hp)...

So this video doesnt show the reality..

  • so you need a 40-50k car just to keep up with a 1000cc 10k bike lol

  • This was Jeremy Clarkson's Motorworld.

  • LOL @ all you internet bikers. The guy on the bike is a 3 time Superbike champion, as if he wasn't trying and as if you know better

  • @agt155 actually. he has knee pucks on and anyone who rides bikes knows that if a real racer is trying he will at least get his knees down in the corner. i never once saw the rear of his bike pitch out for a corner which is a signature 1 liter thing for a true supermoto racer nevertheless a champion. if you watch the rpm gauge on the bike the racer is shifting at a comfortable rpm....that r1 hits its powerband at 10k which is pretty much where he is shifting. "internet biker" here

  • @GrassShadow ..and how many superbike championships have you won?

  • @agt155 None. As i said in my last comment??....Maybe you should have read through the comment before you got on here thinking you'd make me look stupid.the last time neil won anything was probably before you was born and the last time he raced was like...10 years ago.The driver of the car is currently racing. You tell me how it is fair to put a current racer up against a washed out old school rider that probably hasnt ever been on a newer bike?

  • @GrassShadow Oh dear...if you accuse someone of "not thinking" you'd better do your homework first. Then you'd have realised that this vid is approx 12 years old.

  • @agt155 lol actually the video was uploaded by the user in 2009 making it approximately 2 years and 3 months old. the show that the video is from may be 12 years old but as i stated and he states in the video the rider of the bike has no ambition beyond growing an avacado tree from a stone...doesnt sound like a racer to me

  • Car vs Bike comparisons are completely irrelevant, both require different types of skill to make them go fast and both superior in their own categories. Anyone who says cars are better then bikes or bike better then cars should be shot.

  • I'm disappointed in Top Gear for this scam..

  • @Gill1am this wasnt top gear...

  • @vinnie01 In that case I'm disappointed in the guy from top gear :)

  • On R1 Ride my grandmother...

  • its clearly fake, look at the end of the last corner, if the biker would have go flat out he would catched the porsche

  • 2012 yamaha fjr 1400

    1050 speedtriple

    zx10r kawie

and put a real rider on it

  • i want ben spies on that r1

  • Very tight at entry to cambell to let the car through

Would be right behind car through noble

Entry to goodwood car would pull away, but from mid corner onwards it opens up loads

Exit and towards church is more than enough distance for the bike to be back in front, dont get to see that bit.

R1 would be miles away by club, short of ramming him off through chicane, no way car wins imo

Even Minitwins get round sub 1.30

(guess Ians seen Plato in btcc and thought better of being in front of him)

  • lol BSB 125's lap faster than that hahaha

  • He was not even dragging his knee....Ian was totally sandbaggin' it!

  • bikes are still better tho

  • r6 would have beaten the porshe

  • @JeezyRyder agreed

  • 36 INCH NOSE OMG CLARKSON?

  • say something about the price diffrence, I dare you

  • @S01NOR LOOOL Good one Bro!!!

  • FAKE!!!!! THE R1 PILOT IS "TAKING OF THE GAS"

SEE THE TREZECOTO VIDEOS OR XKRUGX VIDEOS AND MALULAVI VIDEOS. ALL ARE VIDEOS OF R1 OWNERS IN BRAZIL.

  • that car is not even the 4s, imagine if it was the turbo with pdk...It would destroy the r1

  • try hayabusa.. :)

  • @19aziQ89, not on the corners. It can do OK, but it's forte ain't twisties.

  • @deepmelody1991 yaa..u right bout that..cbr1000rr (rabbit) can beat it..

  • im shocked i thought the r1 would have won lol nvm i love my bikes still

  • @hippo2k6 ofcourse the r1 would have won, if it was a real race instead of some top gear promotion..

  • we want a real race ....

  • I feel sorry for Clarkson. Nowadays he is regularly maxxing out half million dollar cars and he just seems so bored, chatting and stuff. THAT is why people ride motorcycles.

  • Haha, bike could stop much faster then a car. Race was bullshit, no one should believe this

  • glupota. Kierowca Motocykla wgl nie umie nim jechac,. Sportowy motor a kreci nim obroty jak na simsonie. Idiotyzm. Proponuje dac za kolko motocykla np hmm Rossiego??. Gz.

  • R1 had no chance

  • Propaganda, but what have you expect in a Carprogram. Call for Ghostrider !!!!!

  • a yamaha r6 or cbr600rr wouldve beaten the porshe with about 10 seconds between them

  • @noscopesnipa Are you saying the R6 is faster than an R1? You do realise the 6 is for 600 and the 1 is for 1000.. right?

  • @roulettered56

a 600 is the best balance between power and weight, 1000cc bikes are too heavy but yet have ton of power, but a 600 is light and has nearly same power to the 1000cc bikes

  • @noscopesnipa not trying to cause arguments here, but thats crap mate, ive had a cbr 600rr, i've had an r6, a ducati monster 620 dark, and a ducati 748, now i have an 2010 r1, its pisses on any bike ive ever had, yeah its heavier but it doesnt effect the cornering, in my veiw i'll out corner most bikes on the road now.

loads of people bang on about 600'd being better in the twisties, but whats their comparason too.. banits? harleys? hornets?

  • @noscopesnipa Your a little off, 1000cc bikes only weigh on an average of 30 more pounds than a 600cc. A1000cc has on average of 150hp and 75 ft lbs to the rear wheel. A 600cc has on average of 110 hp and 40 ft lbs of power to the rear wheel. Thats a huuuuge difference in power to weight ratio.

  • @noscopesnipa I'm not a bike person at all, but everything I have ever read seems to say that a lot of the modern 1000's are lighter than the 600's.

  • @pyk420biatch 1000's are never lighter than the 600 versions :), but the weight difference is getting smaller

  • @noscopesnipa lol do you realize that with todays current technological a 1 liter(1000cc) bike only weighs about 40 more pounds. so your telling me that a 600 has nearly the same power? i can see youve never rode a one liter bike. ive owned both a 600 and a 1000. theres a huge power difference

  • @noscopesnipa

10 seconds! thats redonk! If ur gonna upgrade the bike they upgrade the car try going against a Porsche GT3 and the bike will loose again :P

  • @noscopesnipa you know that the r6 is a smaler version of the r1 ?!

  • @noscopesnipa make less sense

  • My civic could beat you all. I got nos!

  • @FunBoy3030

I don't say I drive better than a 3 times SBK Champion, but I can drive ass good, to see and know, how it looks like, when you are driving on your and the bikes limits, and that isn't the case here.

First, you won't be able to pass a bike in the corner it self, like at 2:32, in adition to that, he isn't taking the corners very fast.

  • look for :

Abenteuer Auto offiziell: Audi R8 gegen Honda Fireblade

    Lamborghini Gallardo vs. Ducati 999

Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera VS Ducati 1098

  • @Raiden19891006 agree.......... btw it's maybe out of the topic but........... which sport bike is good to start sticking with....... to a beginner....... because i would not like to ride r1 when i do not have the tech to.......... any tips?

  • @insidemanXD

Well, I startet with 16 on an 125 cc (Derbi GPR), and was riding it for 24000 km, after this, I made the license for the big ones with 18. I bought an Daytona 675 and was driving 25000 kmon it until my 21 years with 34 ps, and then I took out the "throttle" (limitation on 34 ps) and I'm riding it from then on until now with 125 ps.

So I had already a lot of pracis when I was driving it with 125 ps.

  • I recomend you a 600 cc. Wich one you take, it's your choice. For the street, I wouldn't buy a R6, because it's engine is realy very bad on the streets, because you realy nead very much RPM to advance /accelerate.

Personaly, I prefer the 675 ( and ride it :) ) because it has a very good engine, it has already much power on low and middle RPM + a very good suspension ( Fahrwerk).

  • When you want do ride on racetrack, I recomand you the 675 (good engine, brilliant suspension) or the R6 (good engine for racetrack) good suspension.

But the best is, to ride them once and decide then. YOu also have to feel comfortable on your bike. You can have the best bike on world but when you don't feel good on it, you are riding "bad" and "slow" because you don't trust your bike.

Hope I could help you a bit.

  • doesn't even matter if a car is faster or better through corners, motorbikes are just so much more fun, you simply can not compare them in my view. And I'd say that it would take more skill to be the best rider than to be the best driver :L

  • godzillaisnuclea123 i would like to see a f1 vs a f-18 on a 15km straigth line...

so shut the fuck up if u dont have brain

  • Take a 2008 R1 out there. Better crank case, lighter and smaller body, new engine, YCC-intake. That'd be an easy win for the R1

  • if bikes where faster than cars they would all be shouting about the nordsliefe time but you never hear of a bike under 7 m 30 seconds. do you? just look at videos of of this track and bikes are always being over taken. mostly by really bad car drivers.

  • @boyimell - Reasons

    1. Bike racing/time trials (closed circuit) is not carried out at the nordsliefe anymore - too dangerous.

    2. Cars are specially prepared, driven by racing drivers on a closed nordsliefe to set their times that they publish.

    3. 7:30 times you talk about are boy racers in GSXRs negotiating traffic (v quick considering)

    4. short circuits = handling/braking> acc/power (nurburg = giant short circuit) that's why Radicals eat supercars on them.

    PS Watch the TT.

  • @mitchbigcannon

1.life is dangerous track driving where we are all going the same way must be 100X safer than the public hihgway so thats that ruled out.

2.plenty vids of GT3 RS carreras track focused but not specially preped for racing with talanted guys driving them sub 8 mins so that rules that out.

3.the 7.30 time is a fast time indeed but i cant see any bike under 9 mins,so that rules thyat out

    4. spa and monza power tracks and radicals eat supercars there too.that rules that out.

  • i would like to see a formula 1 car vs a racing bike.the f1 car would thrash it.

  • lol Niall Mackenzie's intro in this video is fucking hilarious

  • it didn't look like the bike was on full acceleration out of the last corner. he was only 10m behind at the exit and didn't make up much ground, where i believe it would've easily accelerated past. if loud mouth clarkson had set up a real race.

  • either the biker was paid or he was first time on that track... i lean on my SM like that...

  • @maradeanu I think Niall Mackenzie might just have seen Thruxton before. He was 3 x British Superbike champion as well as being a 250 and 500 World Championsip GP racer for more than 10 years , scoring plenty of GP podium finishes. To be fair though, with your talents you'd probably wipe the floor with him.

  • @DJMK3B i did't say that i would wipe the floor with him, just that he didn't look like pushing it to the limit :)

  • *Continued - / Would you push it to the limit with a chance a being bump or prematurely stopped in front of by a 2,000+ lbs wide bodied vehicle. Unless you were suicidal, Your answer Is likely know. They should have saved there film on this one. Terrible!

  • only fanboys here who dont even have a driving license and the only things they know about cars/bikes is from that they seen on their playstations.

you dont have to be a rocket-scientistto understand that a car is faster round a track than a bike, its because the car has four wheels an therefor more grip and stability through corners. surely on a drag strip a 10.000$ bike makes shis-kebab a 200.000$ car. for traveling the car is best(thats why u see 90% cars on road). bike is for ocasional fun

  • put it this way if the finish line was another 50 meters further we have a different scenario or ?

  • its a fair race -the r1 at the time was the fastest production bike in the world-the porsche was 1 of the base models-bikes are fast in a straight line, but as you know roads have things called corners and fact of the matter is cars are FAR safer, can be used all year ,in all weather-motorbikes are big boy toys-they are remarkable machines but,if you work, need to wear a suit and dont like turning up everywhere in a leather romper suit and covered in sweat, its not practical-in the porsche u can

  • @MrJosiebhoy I'm not sure that the porsche really won (it's a car magazine).

And you talk about everyday driving, I could ride an R1 everyday while a porshe would be super expensive to buy AND to maintain so I could only ride the week-end.

Plus, the porshe isn't a lot faster in the corners or at breaking. Even if it is a base model, it cost 70 000$, I'd like to see a 10 000$ car to corner and brake faster than an R1.

One last thing, if you drive the porshe like you ride an R1, it isn't safer.

  • @RaskVousSalue ofcourse it won-its on tape from topgear, and if its money ,then anyone can buy a hothatch-gtir -clio williams, modify it,eg nitro andand it could razz a r1-remember the worlds roads are not all straight lines

  • @MrJosiebhoy That's what I say, it's a topgear vid, I don't trust TopGear for a car vs bike BECAUSE it's a car mag. Your cars (modified or not) still more expensive than bikes, and less efficient than bikes.

I know the road aren't all straight lines but you need a very good car to out courner a bike, and those cars are expensive, and very few can be better than a bike, even in corners. I don't know if you're car passionate but bikes are faster most of time, live with it...

  • @RaskVousSalue its a car program m8 and the bike rider was a pro as was the porsche driver-the car can carry passengers in comfort and their luggage, and you can survive a crash in a car over 30mph,not on a bike-the porker kicked the crotch rockets ass-u deal with it-

  • @MrJosiebhoy Then I agree, performance for bikes, confort, luggages and safety for cars.

  • @RaskVousSalue ofcourse bikes are fast,it would be mad to say otherwise, but they are toys, not serious grown up ,year round transport-motorbikes are also-probably as good as they can get, while the new buggatti has been clocked at 268 mph without a rattle

  • @MrJosiebhoy ye it was clocked at 268 at a cost of a million pound, where as you can buy a european derestricted kawasaki zzr 1400 for little under 18,000 grand it clocked 238 mph not to mansion the new bmw s1000rr breaking 200mph barrier and 0-200kph in 4.5 secs its only classed as a superbike and to say there as good as they can get. i seriously dought it, if moto gp macanics can push 230mph out of an 800cc bike i can only emagine what sort speed they will get when it moves back up to 1000cc

  • @oTANDOORAo and another thing any nancy can diver a car it takes real balls to drive a bike.

  • @oTANDOORAo yes any nancy can drive a car but you can only ride a crotch rocket while dressed like the gimp in pulp fiction lol

  • @MrJosiebhoy this is a bit fairer and not done by top gear nob ends Ducati Desmosedici vs Ferrari 430 Scuderia have a look . dont get me wrong love cars but when it comes to power and exceleration out of coners thers no better buzz and felling of power that a car just doesnt have.

  • @oTANDOORAo they give it a fair chance man-i been on the back of cbrs an r1 and a gsxr n hayabusa-i wouldnt trust myself riding, but im a good driver and can make a car dance-what i mean is a bike isnt viable transport,to go to work etc, theres too much compromise,i know its fun on bikes but you can have crazy fun in a car and still take passengers-you dont need to wear leathers, helmets a bike is only good for sunny days, and here in scotland theres not many of them,in the wet its suicidal to ride

  • @oTANDOORAo what would you rather do 200mph in? a safe car or a machine that if you lose it at more than 25mph chances are you will die-also take a nissan pulsar gtir cost 3k put £500 of nitros in it and chances are it will whip a bikes ass,the bugatti does 0-60 in 2.4 secs no bike is quicker than that-as i said it would be crazy to say bikes arent fast but as in the video, the fastest bike will always be trumpted by a decent car round a track-facts are all in the video

  • @RaskVousSalue also in a car you dont get out dressed like one of the village people

  • @ifwere1021 GP bikes.... Race bikes.... those arent ROAD bike with ROAD tyres.

As someone who rides an R1 (2002 model) and owns an MR2 turbo (SW20 model) the bike is obliteratingly fast in a straight line and around open corners, but on twists and turns, where hard braking is needed, I go faster in my car.

Thats not a reflection on myself, it's just basic physics. Bikes are better at some things, cars are better at others. Anyone that argues one is ultimately better is missing the point.

  • cars sucks @2:27 rider close gas :-S

  • cars sucks

  • just type "crazy greek riders-last video" and u will realize that bikes are faster than cars...

  • the bike wasnt leaning even close enough to its full capability.

  • @Maksimka8 just shut up. it wasnt even a gr8 car. if everybody rode yamaha r1 we all would know what would me the mass murderer bike/ hitler.

  • @hawkeye1018 You don't make sence.

  • That track favors cars an open flowing track would allow the bike to annihilate a car

  • I'd race both. I'd prefer the bike, but I would definately race anyone on here.

  • Yeah... if you look it up, the motogp times around Thruxton are easily in the 1:15s... non-gp race times are consistently in the low 1:20s, high teens. So it's pretty clear that the bike SHOULD have won.

But, seriously, don't let it get to you, people. Just be happy with whatever you have.

  • @ifwere1021 i have a moped .....

    D:

  • i love how at 0:13 - 0:18 Jeremy stands casually when most ppl would fear being hit

  • bikes still cheaper than a porshe

  • WTF that guy cant lean for shhhhh to relax n bikes r way more fun then cars

  • what season was this ?

  • Crock of shit, a 600 can lap Thruxton in 1m 20s probably similar to the 1000cc times from 10 years ago, that was 1m 35s. Total bull shit.

  • Shut up Clarkson you pubic hair headed twat. Search for Porsche 91 GT3 v Ri Nurburgring.

  • most normal road-going cardrivers can't drive corners because they think the car will slide off the road before their bum slides of the seat.

  • this clip is redicules .. the bike would beat the porsche if it would have wannted to

  • three time british superbike champ? I can take those corners faster than him with closed eyes

  • put valentino rossi on the bike and the car has no chance

  • to all the bikers out there, SHUT UP!!! lol but seriously

  • thruxton btcc race lap record: yvan muller at 1m17.303 in 2002.

thruxton bsb race lap record: gregorio lavilla at 1m14.890 in 2006.

  • I see 98% of the commentours here DO NOT ride motorcycles.. I race both bikes and automobiles. Cars are faster around a track every time. Yes, my ZX-10R would a car in a straight, there is only so far you may lean a bike on a curve.

  • @Mewolobarth Sooner or later a biker will highside themselves. With a car you may lose the line or even the whole track. I recall an odd case where bikes were getting tossed off the track on a dry corner after going through a wet one. It had rained in the morning but the track was dry. Mostly. What seemed to be the issue was that getting through the wet corner there was water inside the bike body panels and then lean over in the dry corner and out came the water onto the rear tire. Whoops!

  • The homo talking in the video needs to nut up and shut up. Put that perm under a helmet and he would be crying like a bitch.

  • What a joke. From 3:31 to 3:35, the motorcyclist deliberately goes way outside the last corner, in order NOT to pass the car.

  • i think it is VERY obvious just how biased this guy is . . . from the get go he is down talking bikes and bikers. . . i used to like this show, but now not so much. i simply cant believe that a car with a power/weight ratio of 1:7.4 (1 horse power for each pound of weight) out did a bike with a power to weight ratio of 1:3 (its like golf, lower is better) . . . if there really are some dumb a**es out there that this cars are faster, do this race again, but with a BMW RR1000 S (ratio of 1:2.3)

  • clarification, 1:7.4 power to weight ratio mean 1 horse power for ever 7.4 pounds, 1:3 is one horsepower for every three ounds etc etc etc so obviously the closer to a 1:1 ratio the better

  • What a load of Top Gear bollocks!! The R1 only revs to like 7k in the video (Bear in mind peak power is at about 9 or 10k)! If Niall was allowed to let the bike run to its full potential, it would whip the Porsches arse!!! Face it Porsche fans...even an early model R1 will cream a Porsche 911, so longs as it's not under TopGear conditions, where the car HAS to win ahaha :D

  • old R1...

  • haha superbikes are almost as fast as f1 cars, this is a horrid video

  • That Porsche takes up quite a bit of the track. Wonder what the solo times are. I'd have fun running either.

  • the R1 didn't lose, the real truth is the R1 would sh&t all over the porsche but since the idiot host Jeremy is a car fanatic he staged it so the porsche would win, put Ben spies or Rossi on that R1 against the porsche on the track and i promise you the R1 would destroy the porsche, if a ducati was 20 to 28 seconds faster on the racetrack than a ferrari 430 then HOW THE FK can an r1 be slower than a piece of sh%t porsche, go watch the other youtube videos done by PROFESSIONALS not b.s amateurs

  • @exslang02

you call porsche "piece of shit"? It's one of the finest motor-engineering brands in the world. Drive that bike every day year-round and we'll see what "piece of shit" really is.

  • @XYZrock i do ride 365 . . . i still wouldnt trade it for that car . . . VituMV is right .. . a motorcycle that costs $10 was beaten by a car that costs $70k . . . i will take the bike any, and every day of the week

  • @chidogringo2 well it depends on where you live. I live in scandinavia and I never see a motorcycle during the winter season. But I do see a lot of porsches.

I don't doubt that the motorcycle would beat it in speed but a porsche or any other nicer car for that matter gives you a lot more than just speed. What you like depends on what you're after

  • This proves nothing ^^. Only that the bike owns and the porsche is rubbish and expencive.

It indeed wasn't a proper race, and anyhow, racing that bike would have been twice as fun.

  • at the end of the day bikes are always faster on the street where most people will ride.race the porsche against any 1000cc sport bike, even 600 sporsts bikes in traffic in real world conditions and the car will lose.

  • so a $10k bike lost by 3/4 of a second to a $70k car, wooooow

  • @VituMV You get more for your $70k than a ridiculous $10k bicycle.

  • @NLR884evr humm... ok so you completely missed out on the point of this test

  • @VituMV humm...ok so you completely missed out on the point I was making. Get a life queer.

  • @VituMV This is old carrera 4 221 KW and its cost about 30k and no 70k, this is really WOOOW

  • @VituMV bike should be fasterr

  • Well this wasn't a serious race. Only look how relax the bike is runing the corners. The R1 wasn't even trying to win.

Sorry but this is realy sh*t, to say that's a race to see what's faster.

  • @Raiden19891006 Aww, shut the fuck up and take your loss like a man.

  • @Raiden19891006 sure we al know that you can drive the bike faster in slippery conditions

  • @Raiden19891006 get over it. i don't think you're a better pilot to say the guy didn't even try.

  • ...... cont. i enjoyed that thou because the porche was a prey and the bike was the predator. see how the porche uses up all its power and in the process the porche was fumbling around the corners not in a relax way. like the bike.

  • apparently that was staged no doubt about it. sad how the whole world living in lies.

  • don't think i will ever be able to afford a car like this. glad my r1 was only a fraction of the price of the mighty porshe but also a fraction of a second off the winning line !!!!!

  • @jabbaba and you forgot to mention that a bike is more fun to ride takes more skills and feels way faster then a car.

  • @EvilBeasts ha ha, yes sooo much more fun. and as for skills i remember kevin schwantz once said that you can put a load of radio controls on a car and send it round a track. no chance of that with a bike.

  • ha ha clarkson owns... "I would drive the moto bike but I'm a heterosexual"... nice...

  • 'Jason Plato, his ambition is to win it"

haha! what a nasty little comment from clarkson! xD

  • @ dubmmonkey. That is a 98-99 (probably 99) r1. I hardly doubt he owns a time machine to get an 1198 back there form the year 2007.

  • setup!!!!!!

  • An R1 is hard a top of the line bike. He should have used a Ducati 1198.

  • niemals,oder hat die R1 34ps....
