Bruises usually involve pain, and trauma to a certain area of the body, i think the metaphor is that jose has sustained trauma to the heart and he is in pain and the metaphorical result are the colors red and blue.

So what, it sounds like humming to you, you see nothing of it. But to others, the way he plays and sings the song adds more emotion. And singing the way he does is A LOT harder than you think.
