  • Actually I just sold my wrx and bought a 08 Tacoma and a crx. Damn crx is almost as fast as my wrx

  • @wrb2002bugeye im just saying take the same amount of money that you purchased the wrx with plus the 3 grand you put into it. put the same amount into purchasing and building the crx, and the crx will be wayyyy faster dude.

idk why your comparing the vtec and turbo. when the crx can have both, and poop all over your wrx

  • @BurtonDude05

no it wont. and besides, youre buying a crx, you dont have any money.

  • i have a turbo crx, and this video seems about right for a slighty built crx.

  • @wrb2002bugeye what a typical honda hater a bone stock s2000 smokes a bone stock sti...im not hating on subuarus i like the looks of em but there engines r garbage...oh yea and btw s2000's r all motor it takes a modded turbo subaru just 2 beat a stock s2k it really is a shame how slow they are 350awhp means nothing 2 me a 250whp honda could beat that for half the money u put into ur sti with buying it and ur ROM Raider tune etc etc

  • Bone stock, an S2K has a higher top end speed due to transmission gearing & lighter weight. That's all. WHP put down on a dyno is very similar. And Subaru's engines are far from "garbage".

All motor isn't all that when you take into consideration that the S2K's engine has to be at peak revs to get anything out of it.

You wouldn't think any STi is "slow" if you sat in one & got thrown around some corners, snow, or mud. And STi's gain more power from mods that an S2K does because it's turbo.

  • @DOHCEJ22E1 ive been in a stock wrx and ive also been in a built sti tht puts down just about 500whp ..im not gonna lie it was fast and i respect subaru for that but i expect a turbo car to be fast but getting beat by a N/A car is not anything subuaru should be proud of i realize the s2k is lighter but the baru has the turbo to compinsate for that "Turbo isnt all that considering most of subarus engines need a turbo to go somewheres" the sti is helpless without a turbo

  • You're comparing oranges & apples. The S2K runs with high compression & VTEC while the Subaru uses low-compression & turbocharging. Both achieve their power levels using different methods. A normal STi has TQ nearly all over the RPM range while an S2K only has TQ at the top of it's powerband, which does not make for a street worthy car. Though the S2K's engines are some of the best 4 cylinders ever built, the TQ it puts out is laughable. My GT puts out more TQ at about 3K rpms lower.

  • @DOHCEJ22E1 either way it still doesnt help it beat an s2k there trq maybe laughable but they still get the job done...u deffinatley seem to kno ur stuff about subaru no doubt about that ur gt still may have more trq but an s2000 would make quick work of it oh and i saw ur videos of ur gt it doesnt sound 2 healthy

  • The S2K would make short work of my car on a dry road because of its longer gearing, higher top-end bhp, & lighter weight not to mention it's a 5 speed where mine is a 4 speed auto with a 4.44fgr. However, I'd run circles around him in the snow. Once again, apples vs oranges :)

And since the previous owner did not care for it well, the 25D blew a rod bearing as will all engines due to extreme lack of maintenance. The block is being removed & the heads will be bolted onto an EJ222.

  • @DOHCEJ22E1 cant agree with you more there thats what subarus r best at

  • I've torn down a 1997 25D and a 1998 25D & guess what? There are no differences in between them so no, not every year is there a change made. The changes are made in a few years time. WRX engines (like the 205/255) have weak rod/bearings & start approaching their limits around 350-370whp. After that, boom. Scrap metal. STi engines have beefier rods & pistons & that is why they can take more of a punishment. I've personally volunteered in a tear-down of a 255 for a recall due to bad rod bearings.

  • EJ engines have parts that are mostly compatible. For example, I bolted on phase 1 25D heads on a phase 2 22E/2 block, hence my YT tag. And the new boxers are NOTHING like the ones before. They are called FB and I've only seen one in the shop, FB25 and it was in a few Foresters and Legacies.

  • All forms of the EJ are changed SLIGHTLY, addition of variable cam timing, transition from twin turbo to single, compression ratio changes, things like that. The most major change is the main bearing change from phase one to phase two & the block casting strength from the fore to the latter.

  • I don't know who you think you're trying to school but I know about Subarus and have for the better half of 5 years. So if you think you can school me, erase that thought immediately. I know how different or not they are. You see that Legacy on my page? It's engine is sitting in my basement in pieces due to a rod blown through the block.

  • Every year EJ25 is NOT different. Every application of EJ25 IS different & you learn this only by identifying the 5th initial where it says "Engine Type" on the plate in the engine bay on the driver's side. If it says "D", it's a non-turbo. If it says "7, K, or R", it's Subaru's STi designated engine. It it says "5" as in "EJ205", it's a USDM 2.0 EJ WRX engine. You get the idea. Wider oil journals & stronger internals are only in limited EJ engine designs, like the 22T, 208, 20K, 22K, etc.

  • Wrong. Early EJ25Ds are shit & they blow head gaskets. They're the only ones that do. And yes, if I had a 2.0 turbo swap or another DOHC EJ22E with boost & a good tune, I'd EAT GD+ WRXs since they have about 400lbs on my car with less engine displacement. GT BDs only weigh 3000lbs max fully loaded from the factory. GDs are much heavier. And by the way, the EJ25D was installed in 1996 & there are 2 types from that year to 1999, which is why the 96 ran on premium & the 97+ ran on 87 octane.

  • Oh and as for people giving hondas shit for not having the AWD - a good driver can drive in anything :p

  • This is a silly argument going on. I own a modded 06 Wrx. I love it. But I miss my old crx. I don't understand how you all are comparing them.

Spend maybe 6 grand into the crx, which you bought for 1500, and you have a Wrx KILLER. Your spending pretty much the same just to purchase a wrx.

Also for reliability, the boxer engines aren't good at handling the turbo. Wears down easy. Imprezas will last forever though, like hondas. But with hondas, even if something breaks, easy and cheap fix.

  • It's not just the car, it's the technology. If I put 6 grand into my 98 Legacy GT, which I bought for $1500, I'll have a WRX/STi killer as well. And the EJs are actually very good at handling turbos. They just can handle shitty tunes or raised boost w/no tune. And forget about adding a turbo to an N/A EJ! Hah! Talk about a time bomb! LOL!

  • @StarletGTTowner Sorry but you're wrong. Yea maybe a WRX but a fully built CRX and a fully built STi, I belive the STi would win...

  • @GreenBeret77 Hahahaha Man oh man, i dont think so, if you had the stock B16A CRX all you need is ten grand in parts and you can push 700- 800 hp. try and find parts that sheap for a brand new WRX STI. and even if you do end up being able to push that much hp, the rex still has the WRX in power to weight ratio

  • @joelerB16A

take the 3.0 from the h6 outback and toss in some new pistons and a gt35r = 600whp. full inerior etc.

look up sti h6 3.0 here on youboob iirc from perrin.

if we wanted honda shitics we would buy one. honda shitics are for the poor anyhow who cant afford a new car.

  • @slowbarugt Hahaha bro, these old honda's continue to compete with brand new cars haha. the B series engine has been around for a while, and subaru still cant make engines that are as good as honda's old or new ones. Honda is world wide known for there capability to push 1hp for every 10 cc, without any turbos or anything. the b16a= 1.6L puts out 159hp, show me a subaru that can do that. or even look at the s2000 2.2L 220hp impressive as hell

  • @joelerB16A

do you know what 300ftlbs feels like? going up a steep gradient with the engine doing 2300rpm practically coasting?

point? 2 different means. personally i like torque. i love the technology from honda dont get me wrong. i was just thinking about it the other day. the original type r has engine tech that ford/chevy wont use for another 20 years.

subaru is a small maker but has a big presence. check the vids out of someone being pulled out by a subie. tough and reliable man.

  • @slowbarugt yeah well I see what your saying about the Subaru, yes they are good cars, but as for me i dont see why i need to spend more money on a car when I could buy a cheap Honda and be able to keep up to whatever, you know what i mean. Honda is a great engine manufacturer, and look our for the K series because its the new B series, and its turning some heads

  • @joelerB16A Honda are nice especially the k series engine, but the thing about a Subaru is that you can use it all the time. You can pick up the kids from school then go to the track an hour later and hit hi 12's low 13, all while being reliable. No matter how much money you put into a civic you wont be able to drive in the snow/ rain the way a subaru can with there awd.

  • Drive a STi or even a wrx. You wouldnt want to go back to a honda.

  • @EddV91 I couldn't say it better myself man.

  • @EddV91 driven many from many different years and i drive an 08 Si now

  • @EddV91 your right, id get an evo :)

  • @bentley2006

    nonono,you will get an sti!

  • @784563 i dislike scoobys, see too many of them and they all sound the same, evos are more rare on the street and look a hell of a lot better.

    Scooby = Lads car.

    Evo = Mans car

  • @bentley2006

oh sry,Lads car. So there is any reason to ladies drive an 300hp car? i don't thins so. Nissan mirca=lads car,you have said a shit.

    Evo=plastic cheap look car.

  • @784563 theres nothing cheap about evos... and the rest of what you said doesnt make sence...

  • @784563 only thing that is cheap is u and ur words. shut the fuck up, EVO is an EVO!!!!

  • @bentley2006 not lots of kids r evo fan boys

  • @bentley2006 well said

  • @bentley2006 well said my friend

  • @joelerB16A this comment is wrong s2k is a 2.0 not a 2.2 and it puta out 240hp not 220 and a b16a2 puts out 160hp.....both of which are rated at the crank

  • @dandim23 depends on what year there is a f22, but ya what your saying is even more impressive.

  • @joelerB16A that is also true i forgot 2 mention that the new s2k cam with a 2.2

  • @StarletGTTowner

place a stock turbo untuned wrx vs a fully built shitic? seriously? thats a fair comparison?

last i checked shitics havent won anything anywhere nor have anything historically of value.

when is the last time you have seen a shitic jump a ramp on tv? win a race? do anything outside of dumb ass youtubbers quoting shit they dont own?

also. subaru has 5 star ratings across the WHOLE line up. shitics just disintegrate into bread crumbs.

  • Compass 360 racing won the 2010 GrandAm Street Tuner class with a Civic;

    Can't be all bad, hater.

  • @StarletGTTowner very well said couldnt of done a better job myself

  • Comment removed

  • @muscle2tuner people dont really get em for looks ya know. the hf weighs 1600 pounds from the factory good power to weight ratio with a motor swap but subie still better in my openion

  • haha subbies eat hondas

  • crx is a pos, subie will always be better! who the fuck would drive a crx tin can.

  • @muscle2tuner I thought CRX's were considered an iconic car that revolutionized sub-compact segment? Oh who am I kidding....I am talking to a person who loves to post controversial statements over the internet with no understanding of the milestones of car history.

  • @vman1320 haha you thought wrong lmfao crx doesn't symbolize shit, well it does. the car looks ugly in my opinion its not controversial its just how i feel. sorry if that bothers you! subie will always be better crx is cool i guess if you like fwd. the crx nothing great to offer in it's history compared to other cars. man your not going to get me to like a crx. 96-2000 em1 thats better lookin

  • crx wasnt turbo and they arent even racin a crx always beats a wrx stupid people not knowin cars

  • enter the matrix? :D

  • jajajajajaj!!!

  • that crx cant hang with a wrx lol

  • The little CRX is through.....

  • aha the crx got dusted

  • ahah wat happ to the crx it got left
