  • this is one of my favorite black keys songs. i wish they would come to Albuquerque

  • i need to look at your channel! tbk and zeppelin are in my top 3 fav bands ever! (along with nirvana) and grown so ugly is def one of my fav songs by them

  • 1:44 <---- blues/rock orgasm

  • I'm pretty sure that Pat HATES drums and he's just trying to kill them with his sticks. LOL. ... in a good way.

  • @kajidaxkenkaku. Your not Japanese. Shut up rob yoh like te black keys don't sass me.

  • I love this song but am i the only one who thinks Dan should embrace the momentum he as when he screams "he didnt look like you" ? Like instead of going back to the riff, pause, riff, pause, he should play something heavy and nonstop.

  • @theledstone neh, the pauses make it all the more awesome. one of the hardest things to learn in music is knowing when not to play. thats why metal sucks arse.

  • why are you guys talking about his beard. are you people fucking retarded?

  • Suck on this metal bands with your six guitarists and drum machine.

  • @IrishWarCry11 hell yea.

  • @IrishWarCry11 lol. knob.

  • @IrishWarCry11 oh if only you knew

  • @IrishWarCry11 I LOVE METAL AND I LOVE BLACK KEYS.IS IT WRONG?

  • @76emperor In case you listen to metal bands with six guitarists all playing the same ol' boring thing, then hell yeah its wrong.

  • @IrishWarCry11 the beauty is................ they will never see the beauty

  • @TheRiteOne100 Lol i did :P

  • @TheRiteOne100 So true man

  • @IrishWarCry11 I used to be a metal head until i drifted to blues...true story .... Blues is the shit!!!

  • @BoneHouse333 I couldn't agree more lol

  • @BoneHouse333 i feel it im a hardcore guy myself but the blues are where it all began

  • Man I want to be on that stage so bad.

  • Dan's guitar is a vintage Ibanez clone of a Gibson SG, right?

  • There's no question that they would still be famous without Dan's beard, because they are famous without his beard. The beard just adds a level of awesomeness, but he had to shave it because if he didn't, the government was going to start imposing an awesomeness tax on all of their profits. The last known person to have to pay the awesomeness tax was Steve McQueen.

  • @ahsgreenwave best comment ever posted on youtube bro

  • @ahsgreenwave the told chuck norris he had to pay the tax too. you can imagine how that went...

  • @ahsgreenwave Nope, the last known person to have payed the awesomeness tax was Freddie Mercury, I mean EVERYONE knows that. ;-)

  • @ahsgreenwave And Brian Wilson

  • Do you think they'd be famous if this guy didn't have a beard?

  • @bodhidarma1 Fuck no. I would never listen to these guys if dan didnt have that epic beard, brah

  • Robert Pete Williams (born 1914), author of Grown So Ugly

Covered in 1967 by Captain Beefhart and his Magic Band (arrangement by Ry Cooder)

This cover was then recovered by The Black Keys in 2004

You can like best whichever version you want but Robert still did it first and just him and a guitar.

  • This isn't a beefheart original...it's a Robert Pete Williams original...who wrote a lot of songs about being in prison...including this one

  • they have their own sound, and thats something to really look for in a new age band. T In other words they keep it real.

  • does no one know this is a captain beefheart cover?

  • Actually they covered it too... Robert Pete Williams is who originally wrote it.

  • From jail, where he was serving a life sentence for shooting a man. He was eventually pardoned.

  • I don't know why you got a -1....you're right, it is a captain beefheart cover. The black keys also covered "I'm Glad" by captain beefheart...both of the beefheart originals can be found on the album "safe as milk:" I suggest you check it out!

  • thanks man, i know i have that album, people just dont appreciate captain and they're in love with the black keys but they won't take time to here the originals

  • I have the "Safe As Milk" album. To me, it's one of the greatest albums ever created next to "Sgt. Pepper"

  • very true.

  • Robert Pete Williams. I suggest you check him out
