I'm in an Elvis Costello funk. It's nothing serious, but hey, after browsing all the videos, here I find a cover of a suicide sick version of this song by Paul Gilbert! Perfect since I'm a guitar virtuoso fan as well.
Was his other girl a rhino? oh wait, his guitar is his other girl? Because my last girl was a rhino. After 14 years of my pure devotion she said she changed her mind. lol Now I just love my curvy guitar. :)
yeah Xtilkx you should have a look at the lyrics, they go something like this : Ok she may have dumped me right / But I don't give a damn / Cause I still have that other girl
Though these are the best songs Paul has ever made, I'd still prefer if he had tried to keep the old pick sound. It seems smoothened up quite a bit...
Not exactly. This kind of harmonic is obtained by playing the note normally and then leaning a finger - generally a thumb - from your right hand softly on the string in order to turn the normal note into an artificial harmonic. It needs a very good amplification, quite a high gain and some practice to sound so great.
amazing song, one of the best I've ever heard, but, I wanted some higher bends, it builds and builds to the point where you think you're gunna get something then BAM! you're back where you started
Hey Revival1 - some of us out in the more provincial areas...would not know about it, if not for posting on YouTube. Will not cost Paul a sale, in fact he would not have gotten my dollars, without it!!!!
Arcane you're right about Paul making instrumentals since the 80's. Just think of Scarified etc...
I also agree people who post this stuff kill the market though it wont stop me from buying the CD. As a musician you've got to support your fellow musicians without ripping their music.
As soon as I get the money I'm gonna buy this like I bought the last... true fans! hehehehe... pluz there's something about having the original CD with ya...
i gotta agree it sound very Vai! Nice touch from Gilbert himself. I believe though he came abit late for all these instrumental market but he is definitely the next to sit on the throne for quite a while~!
Anyway won't emi get jealous from the title? haha..
Paul didn't come late to the instrumental market, he has been doing this since the early 80's.
There is still a market out there for this kind of thing. But dorks posting this stuff on youtube is killing the market. You've all heard the album so why buy it now? Some might, most won't.
i will want to buy his album even more when ive heard his new songs, cos i know i wont have wasted my cash, but then again, with paul gilbert, you know its not wasting cash
I dont think paul came late to the market. And as for the market it self ti think its huge and growing. I think people should make more guitar instrumentals nowadays. I dont think there is enough. Plus Paul has a way of playing that is aint boring and is metalish, which frankly kicks ass.
I still have that other girl... or so I thought.

how does he get the effect of the octave at 0:52 i was thinking tapped harmonic?? anybody know?

thanks so much! i just love how much emotion comes out of that note :)
econtrerasguzman 3 years ago
Actually tbh i think that a sustain set to harmonic mode because its a normall note at first then it kinda glids into a harmonic
Ollyknkn 3 years ago 2
It sounds like a sustainer to me
