Would place the opening scene as later than 1947 as the car in the foreground, a Sunbeam Talbot 80 or 90, and the light-coloured car, a Rover 75, were not introduced until 1948 and 1949 respectively.
Perhaps the original film was edited out of sequence as the scene in front of the Palace was certainly filmed during the winter of 1947. The weather was so bad television had to close down for about two weeks as the BBC staff were unable to get to Alexandra Palace. Some staff were stranded at the Palace when the first snow fell and had to sleep under their desks or in the canteen. By the time this film was taken the road in front of the Palace had been opened.
