  • I would not have the balls to dive a 53 foot trailer up a fuckin mountain.... Glad to see some1 can do it. :D

  • is that a cat 3406

  • @joeylenseigne120 Cummins

  • 53 ft for 80,000 pounds in columbia in america its 65 ft for 80,000 pounds

  • @joeylenseigne120 Never seen a 65 foot trailer, anywhere in north America

  • Where were you while driving? What state? What is the name of the truck?

  • Sounds like a sermon.

  • siskiyou pass in Oregon last winter taught me a thing or two.lol

  • How do you protect yourself from crazy people?

  • @anzwertree Perfurably with a Glock

  • @seansuth Some drivers carry guns out here. But I live in Georgia. Every state has different laws. It's confusing as hell. Some states don't even want you carrying a stun gun. Right now I just carry bear mace

  • @anzwertree Yeah, it's all bull crap. I have my permit for Indiana, but I haven't had a firearm with me (atleast not yet). I think if they want this BS of TWIC and FAST and all them, there should be a federal CCP we can get... Yeah that'll ever happen

  • No problem with trucks on two lane mountain interstates. The problem is when a truck passes another truck to gain 2MPH slowing everyone down from 70MPH to 30MPH and creating a huge jam. I HATE when they do that just for 2mph.

  • I love the Trans Canada highway from Calgary to Vancouver and I've driven along it 5 times there and back since 2007 (mind you I do it with my car which has a 5 speed manual transmission). I've lost track of the number of roadside memorials I've seen along it, and I guarantee that they are all driver error to some extent. I've managed to increase my efficiency each time I do it, but I put huge amounts of planning in each time. Anyone driving it (18 wheels or 4) should watch your videos.

  • you should go to any mountain in mexico ppshh say goodbye to 4 lanes and say hello to one I can bearly fit my mini cooper in

  • I fucking hate getting caught behind these things on the mountain roads

can't you guys just drive on main highways

  • @TheLordofShell LMAO! ok, YOU build the highways to the store dorrs then! And while your at it, take EVERY last thing you own, including your house, vehicle, and scrap of clothing you own, right back to the store... You don't deserve having it, with your mantaility! Be thankfull someone in a slow ass truck brought you that shit! Asswipe!

  • @seansuth dont pay any attencion to him sean hes just one of those moronic drivers out there that have no patince

  • @TheLordofShell sure if people want to drive a couple hundred miles to do there shopping, we will stick on interstates and people in small towns can fuck off, doesnt matter to me.

  • @warrior350yam

Please learn some basic grammar and the difference between "there" and "their" before thinking you are worthy of speaking to me.

    Thank you!

  • @TheLordofShell hahahaha that is all you had to say?

  • @warrior350yam

Well I already proved you wrong and styled on you, what more can you want kid?

    warrior350 status: TOLD

  • @TheLordofShell hahahaha all I can do is LAUGH! HA!

  • I think I road tested you and I told you then 40k below speed limit mandatory 4 ways on.........

  • @bruceb851 Doubt you did

  • Yeah i live in B.C.

  • sean if you ever get off teh road, as a driver youd be one HELL of a good instructor

  • @yamahonkawazuki Thanks. Hope I never do laeve the road... but you never know what happens

  • @seansuth true. just saying probably every company in teh us, canada, and perhaps england or anywhere who had seen these videos would take you carte blanche. ive shown these videos. to drivers, as well as friends of mine who have never driven. ( including some that have never touched a manual 4 wheeler. now she drives stick :)

  • @seansuth you could always. take each and every instructional video youve made, and release it to dvd. maybe some driving vids too? hell id buy em. theyre that good. anyways. keep it safe hive for millions of AF miles. and most above all, enjoy it

  • Great Video sean! I have only seen a couple of your vids but I think they are quite informative. Now I am not a trucker so take it for what it is worth but I have to disagree on one comment you made on this vid re: the 4way's. I feel it is a courtesy to use the hazzard's if you are a slow moving vehicle such as a truck climbing a steep grade! It alerts others approaching from behind that you are quite a bit below the speed limit. Gives them time to slowdown or change lanes to avoid a collison!

  • why are you talking about kilometers insted of miles?

  • @plsniper he is canadian by birth. ( metric system there)

  • wicked

  • thats a big fuck off mountain! good video mate, be good to climb that with a b double!

  • nice video thank's Toronto

  • I dont mind going slow uphill. Going down sucks. Im only driving a single axle dump 10speed and no jakes (did any single axle ever have jakes?) The truck might pull some hills in 6th at 35mph but going down forget it im only doing 15mph or slower. It can get away from you too fast. The brakes are next to useless. I also Brake with my left foot and downshift as soon as possible when i need to slow down in a hurry

  • BC truckin baby nothing better in the world.....except maybe ice road truckin

  • I understand! Get R Done! Every buddy needs to learn respect to drivers and drivers need to learn respect on whats going on its a bitch to handle!

  • I am a retired (medically) driver of 30 accident & ticket free years. And I have to give credit for my driving record to the owner of a company I first started driving for. Every once in a while he would pull me to the side and give me a "pep talk". Two things that I made it a point to remember is.

    1. ALWAYS LEAVE YOURSELF AN OUT... No matter where you're at, open road or on a bridge.

    (Continued)

  • (Continued)

    2. If you find yourself THINKING that you’re an expert and you know everything on how to handle a truck, you had better get out of it because all you’re doing is ASKING the truck to follow your commands, when in fact, the truck has the final say and the command that you give the truck could be wrong and it could kill you and/or someone else.

These are the words that I lived by for 30 safe OTR driving years

  • kilometers where the hell do you live?

  • @WereBnWatched Indiana

  • Another well informed AMERICAN.......lol

  • @WereBnWatched Idiot! The USA is the only industrialized country on planet Earth that is not on the METRIC system, Sean said he is from B.C., Canada, they went on the international Metric system years ago! Dummies like you are the reason why the US have not converted as fast as other countries, that's why we are slipping in the world!

    (syncro-smasher)

  • @donberg01 ehh hey easy now lol. metric has its places. and weve not the need for it. yet. maybe one day, maybe not. we can do just fine with or without it

  • GOD JOB, SALUDOS DESDE COLOMBIA, I LOVE THIS JOB, BEAUTIFUL YOUR TRUCK PETER BILT....

  • GREAT VIDEO

  • What are 4ways

  • @MrEarthmover Hazard lights.

  • need fast forward

  • @1ogeebygirl1 No, need to pay attention

  • @seansuth YEah huh some beautiful country!

  • i love driving moutntins keeps me challenged more

  • plus rigs as tough as a butterfly you cant beat them plus brake lag with the brake checking....

  • so on these roads out west hows the off tracking with on coming traffic?

  • 5*+Favorite

  • very true to life.

  • their is no way

  • i thought all trucks were like that...it sounds like a bad idea to have a truck that can run out of air, and not be able to stop at all.

  • The rigs over in N America and Canada are on a totally different spec. Eu trucks have to have spring brakes, Us ones didn't at one time but all new ones do and the truck is an old one from maybe 12 years back.

  • what happens when you drums get to hot and expand... no contact and therefore no brakes... thats why proper techniques are used so the brakes dont heat up.. nice try tho

  • It's also true that you need to have alot of pacience for the other drivers, cuz they think you can stop a 40 tons truk as fast as a 2-5 tons car, i don't know how people are so dumb, it's obvious that it's harder to stop a truck also if you break to much down a hill you can get out of air presure, then it will be imposible to stop that truck until the presure billds up again.

  • It's the opposite way, bigboyrise. If a truck loses air pressure, the brakes lock up and stop the truck. There's no truck I know where you lose braking power if you lose air pressure. That would be a major safety issue.

  • wow, here in spain the max speed for a truck is 90 km/h, my father works as a semitruck driver, and in frace there are some sacrry hills, my father drives very saftley, but once i was with a friend of him and he was going down the hill at 140 km/h i don't remember if the truck was loaded or not, any way at that speed it was soooo scarry, sorry for my bad english btw :D i hope you understand what i mean

  • I can't recall the grades, but I think it gets to 11% ( I may be WAY off, and only upto an 8%) tho it doesn't look steep, it is. Even at 8%, for every 100 feet you travel, you rise 8 feet. with an average of 80,000 to 160,000 lbs to be pulled it takes time. Also depending on how many gears, and the HP it has, trucks can get right down in speed... the going up is easy... the going down, takes more skill

  • I was merging onto the freeway once and some woman suddenly decides to use the slow lane to pass other cars...she was so angry that cut her off that she pulls in front of me and slams the brakes in her ford escort.I knew she was up to something and I reduced my speed anticipating her every move.Don't ever let your emotions take over your common sense on the highway...and beware of people who flip you off and take it to the next level.

  • Exactly! It's not my (you the driver) driving I have to be aware of, it's everyone else

  • Great video. Very informative. He offers suggestions that can be adapted for automobiles driving the mountains particularly with the gears versus riding the brakes. Let the engine/weight hold you.

  • I totally agree with almost everything he says. Other drivers need to know that trucks dont respond the same ways cars do. The only thing I disagreed with was the comment about the 4-ways. Hazard lights are for warning other drivers that you are a hazard so driving with them on is perfectly acceptable if you are not moving with traffic. I even use my hazard lights when there are cyclists in the bike lanes. Simply to warn others of the hazard.

  • Thankz4 doin the video man. I used to be tht 4wheel dummy doesn't kno a sht'bt u guys.

totell the truth it did put some sense into my head .

  • Hey Sean,

What trucking companies do you recommend people should work for if they start out in trucking?

  • Very good...wish all drivers were like you!

  • yea man them 4 wheelers are jackasses i seen a 4 wheeler flip off a trucker and the trucker totally didnt deserve it regular drivers should all read a cdl manual before they get there license cuz none of the regular drivers understand anything aboutcommercial vehicles they need to respect commercial vehicles cuz like u said they are weapons btw thanks for the mountain driving tutorial i am very intimidated by mountains and this really helps

  • Oh man!! I like ur vidz, but this one has a really bad audio...

  • It`s right, a good Country Music is better than his

    comments

    Bernhard Germany

Five stars for the video, 0 for audio

  • BC - "Beautiful British Columbia" awsome place, been to Vancouver on Holiday once. Lovley place, real nice

  • @18WoSHaulinCrew who gives a fuck where you went on holiday!! cock!

  • your a pro at driving and 18 wheel i bet the first time id look at one id be like WTF? but your tuts have helped so much. cant wait. i was vol'ed to work for coca colas trucks. and i wouldnm't be able to drive em if you wouldn't have helped. thanks again buddy.

  • Congrats man, glad I could help. Thanks for commenting

  • People fuss about truck drivers. Hell half the time I would rather be on the road with them than some of the dummy on the road. I will speed up to make a pass in a passing lane. I know he may not see me for one and two you may never know then a tire could blow and take you out.

I see the disrespect you get. I was taking a truck to the shop for it's first service. The headlights were out of adjustment from the factory and a fool in front of me brake checked me. Had to drop to 7 bob tailing.

  • problem /w them 4 wheel dummy is they fail to realize we cant stop if they jam on their brakes knowning theres a semi behind them. then they will when their rear bumper smacks em in the head

  • please over tha road drivers. i have been down interstate 5 from northern cal down to southern cal. i need a chicago job or help getting back on da road

  • nice video

  • COuld you have atleast THOUGHT about what your saying? THink about it... if the sound is "horrible" With the window UP, how do you think it would get better DOWN?

  • haha..he wants to hear the wildlife man! :P

  • yourshorts ever roll your window down and drive on the highway? think about that for a sec

  • that's a really fun but of road to travel on a motorcycle and in the winter

  • when u say "4-wheeler" u mean as in a car?

  • Hey man I'm going for my AZ right shortly you should become a coach or a teacher

  • Cabbage...with mph signs in kilometers...that's pretty damn funny. Keep up the good work Sean.

  • sean, keep up the good work, don't mind all the underachievers they have noting to do than spit on others achievements

  • Hi Sean, That first part, if you can, do a voiceover.

If you have a Mac with iMovie, it's real easy.

  • at 7:30 it is Oregen

  • @ 0:00 to 15:17, it's B.C Canada

  • lol. Good vid. You're a good help for a new driver. Love your vids

  • u have my dream job

  • Good video, audio could have been better. But appreciate it.

  • Ask Airborerooster where we drove today. Hmmm, Cabage. Lets see some proof you even have a CDL. No changing a supertrucks mind, so from now on, your just blocked

  • cabbage is a joke

  • No, YOU need to learn theres more to the world then the US! Perhaps YOU should check out the leagal weights in BC CANADA where this was filmmed! Fucktard, Your right,.. Werner would love a driver like you that can't think for themselves

  • "Stay"? Shows you have no clue on anything in life. Where does a Swift trailer fit into any of my videos? Just goes to show you, your out of reallity

  • nicley said sean

  • "either going up youre gonna fricking die, or going down your gonna die"

    awesome video

  • Very good advice maybe some of these numbskulls will watch it!!! Ed Atl,Ga

  • Some good Advice man!

    BosTonTrucker

  • good vids. Sean, what part of the province do you drive? I meet some of your arrow amigos at the chevron in chilliwack, and was wondering if your ever in that area?

How does arrow treat you fellers? Whenever Im talking to one of your guys, they always ask if my company is hiring, so Im guessing its not all roses with arrow.

  • I lived in Chilliwack actually. Ran out of the yard there beside the tracks. Arrow was good, I just couldn't handle the daily runs.I'm an OTR driver. But for someone wanting local work I suggest them anyday

  • I have to agree about that rule of using the "4 ways" (hazard lights in some countries) being stupid. If another driver can't tell you're going slow, they shouldn't be driving (anything).

  • These are great vids. Thank you. Will you come to CA and be my trainer lol? You sound very knowledgeable and right down to business!

  • I think I want to drive an automatic lol

  • The federal law overrides the local laws when it comes to commercial vehicles unless the local laws are more safety concious."for example the speed limit each individual state chooses the speed for truck and for cars I am living in Michigan where there is a split speed limit. In missouri where the speed limit is the same "federal law states that you have to obide by the posted speed limit but when driving slower than the posted min speed you are required to use your 4 ways.

  • Check outside the box of the lower 48. This video is world wide, and Candian laws as we as UK, Australia law over rule AMERICAN laws, Therefore, MAKE SURE WITH LOCAL LAWS. Not everything is US

  • I am also an otr driver I drive all 48 states no canada though 4 ways are used to show people that either they are broke down and use caution when approching the vehicle and when the truck is moving slow to warn other driver that you are moving slow I have been an otr driver 4 6 yrs now. when I am driving in the mountains I always use my 4 ways if I drop below th posted min speed which in the us is required by fed law for commercial vehicles

  • True, but make sure to check local laws. There are places I've driven that require amber if you use fourways

  • Awesome videos -- A great insight into what it takes to drive these giants. I thinks I'm ready to give up my desk job and get into this!

  • I agree with you on the 4 way flashers. nothing annoys me more than a truck with it's four ways on.

  • sean, which is the most dangerous highway in b.c? and is there any grades steeper than the 8% on the coquihalla just west of the toll plaza?

  • IMO, the #3 hwy by Oosoyous is the worst Ive driven. I cant remember the grade, but ontop of a grade, tre are switchbacks. I don't know if it's the worst, but out of what I traveled it is. As for grades, I believe there are a few 11%. I may be wrong

  • i think you are right about it being 11% i went across it with my 1989 suburban and a 30 foot camptrailer a GCW of 17000 pounds

  • posted on the weight scale adjusting vid that was one of the things I'm NOT looking forward to when I start driving...

BC mountains and the like are the other thing.

    Thx for posting this.

  • AWESOME!!!! :D

  • How much horsepower did that tractor have?

Does the thinner air from the altitude effect the performance of the truck?

  • I think they had 550 hp. and no alt has had no effect on it

  • The last time I drove through the mountains was a 53 from Edmonton to Prince George. I swore it would be the last time. A hellish run for sure. I was super nervous. My mountain experience is extremely limited. It was at night. There was rain and a bit of snow coming down and I had other truckers up my ass. White knuckled it all the way. By the time I got to PG, I was so wound up, I had to get out of the truck and stand shaking in the rain for a bit before I continued to my destination. ;)

  • Yeah it's deffinatly something you have to respect, and untill you do it, you never know what to expect

  • shut up man he can drive what ever he wants to

  • ...and you drive what?

  • sad sad sad man you are ac4419.

  • boy you were kinda haulin ass in the beginning lol

  • ever seen a semi charged with Nos? lol

  • awesome videos

and there are alot of companies that will train you, all you need is class a permit and in 8 weeks on the road you will get 1st dispatch

  • nice video

  • Thnx again for these

  • great vid ill prob never be in the moutons of Canada but still uve told me alot. i hav also learnd alot fram my dad the best teacher u can hav is father.

im only 14 well nearly 15 and i can allready drive a truck. skip lorry and a semi.

im from northern Ireland jst if u wer wondering lol

well keep safe and keep on trucking

  • I want to get my Class 1A. My dad was a long distance trucker for Kindersley n HWT for many years. I was wondering if u know any companies that will train u to get your Class 1A? Great video's Sean I am learning alot about the roads I dread driving on. Watching these video's is making me understand a bit more.

    Kelly

  • I cant think of any lines that will train you before you have the licence. there are companies that will look at you and send you out (basicaly team driving) with a guy for a while, but you need your 1A first.

just remember, maintain speed safely, and you wont need to dread any road

  • Thanx Sean.I am working on trying to get a student loan no so hopefully I can. I did drive a 1 ton with a 28 foot 5th wheel camper to Chilliwack for a few trips. A little bit different than driving an 18 wheeler thats for sure.

  • well, yes but, you have knowlege now of how a towed vehicle will react, so it's actualy going to help you out

  • sanjel corporation trains new drivers, their alberta based but have locations all across northern alberta and bc. they are an oil field service company and you will get extensive off highway training as well

  • worked for sanjel for a brief period of time then went back to construction. but they are without a doubt the most safety oriented company i have ever worked for. good people.

  • I barley studying to paass the written exams the I start driving school I`m so intimidated by them BIG rigs. HELP!!

  • well I hope you study more than barely. you need to know that book before you get on the road, so make sure you do it right the first time. stay safe

  • just want to say thanks for all the info about driving trucks. i a rookie going to trucking school, now i know what to exspect. again thanks

  • Great vid. Some good pointers in there.

  • Thats a good video...Thx for posting!

  • Great video,glad I found ya!

  • Awesome video, sean! Thanks for taking the time to show it. P.S. cool music, too!!

  • Sean you made some very good points,IE: proper gearing and none use of the brakes and not relying on the jack..well done.Sean.Bravo.

  • Hey Sean, kool vid, good drivin tips and oh man, that scenery!Love them mountain views, bets the air is just as sweet.Cant wait for part 2.(Patience is a virtue,as my dear departed mum used to tell me) thanx again..Take Care,Stay Safe & God bless.."S"

  • Yeah, the worst mountain I have ever driven is that stretch of I-15, between Nevada and Utah.

  • yeah I know the I 15 in Montaina, but don't think I've driven south of Bute. Need to get back on the highway!

  • i get to hit that stretch regularly, monida is a real royal pain. five minutes you can go from fine to feet of snow. almost never an easy drive this time of year.
