I tried doing a fund raiser almost a year ago and I found a site that ranked charities by how much of the donations go to administration vs actually helping. MSF ranks near the top for actually using the money and not pocketing it. They're a great charity. If you have the money this is a great cause to donate to. MSF help with basically every major disaster around the world and do amazing work.
This is a great cause! Besides mirroring the video on my channel, I also added it and the description text to my blog, asking people to take part. I hope you do reach the target for this year.
You know the more we help other people with medical care the more we over populate the world. So the more we save these people the more we are getting closer to killing every single human being on the planet. I'm not trying to be racist by saying that only these people should be the ones that suffer it just that if we help them get to our level of medical care our population levels will increase a lot making us closer to the max population making us all die of starvation.
@addsering I think something gets missed quite often about aiding the 3rd world. Most of the countries in question are SO screwed, BECAUSE of the 1st world. Our way of life funds the conflicts and tragedies over their. That's why we should be helping them. Population control is a real issue we have to deal with, but it doesn't excuse the 1st world from making some amends for it's rape of the third world.
@haloboz That is on thing that will lead up to the mass starvation we are eating and wasting to much food that eventualy we won't be able to keep up with the food demands and have havested to much of the plants and animals that they will not have been able to reproduce so that it will die out and we won't be able to havest that anymore
@addsering That has to be one of the most ignorant claims I've ever heard in my lifetime. Every human life is valuable and deserves a chance, no human being should be considered a statistic or a liability.
@addsering Hey moron, maybe you should do some research into overpopulation before running your mouth and making yourself look like an idiot. The sickest nations in the world are also those with the fastest growth rates. Providing developing nations with medical care is one of the best solutions to overpopulation, in part because it gives people access to family planning facilities and education.

MSF certainly isn't the worst charity to donate to, if you're into that sort of thing, but don't you think it's a bit cliche? You know, a bit predictable, going through the motions just to show off your righteousness? Everyone & their dog is already donating to MSF and similar groups, so this little event won't make much of a difference. Why not use this opportunity to promote some more obscure, underfunded, but ultimately more important cause like SENS? Oh right, that would require vision...
@Parapon3ra there are several reasons. MSF is one of the most recognized and reputable charities out there. You get more donations when people believe, as they do with MSF, that the money is going to the people who need it. In addition MSF reaches places and people no one else does. SENS is a foundation primarily concerned with problems that affect the 1st world. Worthy goals, to be sure, but MSF targets the most destitute and abandoned, whose plight is, for my money, more urgent.
@LynxChan 'MSF is one of the most recognized and reputable charities out there.' Indeed! It's a large, well known, well funded organization that employs thousands of people. By adding a few more K's to its >$400,000,000 annual budget you won't be making a huge difference. SENS, otoh, only has a tiny fraction of this budget and isn't particularly well known, yet its research could potentially benefit all of mankind, not just certain people in certain regions.
@Parapon3ra Just a suggestion. Organize an awareness campaign and get people raising funds for SENS, otoh. Just seems a better way to fight for what you care about then just contrasting them to MSF.
@LynxChan (continued). Aging isn't just a '1st world' problem; it destroys life *everywhere*. It's all fine & dandy to try to feed the 3rd world poor and provide them with basic medical care, but it won't really save them. It will just postpone their deaths a bit. If we really want to 'heal the world' we need *fundamental* solutions and mentality shifts. Defeating aging is about much more than just the process of aging itself; it's about taking charge of our evolution, and becoming as gods.
I know that it is important to say "YouTube Community" because you don't want to exclude or turn away anyone from donating to this wonderful cause, but this is the type of action of the atheist community that should be pointed out. I'm sure that not everyone who donated was an atheist, but I'm also sure that everyone who donates to Christian charities is not Christian, nonetheless Christian's receive all of that political pull and clout in society that comes with having "Christian" attached...
... to the charities title. These are the types of events that sway 'the people' in favor of different special interest groups, and these are the types of activities that people do not see atheists for.
Nonetheless wonderful event, I will definitely try to attend, and will most definitely donate again.
@Mequellios That's just an example. During the show last year they listed examples of all kinds of things like equipment and medication that could be bought with the money. Hopefully the MSF guy will talk about it on this years show.
@DooMDrat Oh yeah, I know. The context of my statement was excitement. I went to last year's event, and I plan to attend this year's hopefully. I'll also be donating more this year.

@TruthfulChristian2 Never said they didn't have the right, I just don't get why you dislike the video, considering MSF is trying to help people that can't help themselves. I'm sure you would agree that Jesus would support the actions of MSF more than he would disagree with it, right?
